Beds are a great project. I made my first when I moved to Hawaii. I put it up for sale just for fun, and it sold almost instantly for a nice profit. So, I made and sold three more in the two years I lived there. Remember to always take the extra time to make it really nice in the event you want to sell it later!

Never made a whole bed, but i did rebuold from scratch the side rails for a four poster walnut bed we found by the side of the road. I was able to get a great color match, you can't tell they're not original. They've held up great for 20 years now. Fun project by the ILTMS team and well executed! Thanks for sharing!

If you do not need a head board and have a memory foam the best option for you would be a plywood bed. Depending on your size twin full queen or king. Most beds are about 6.5 feet long which means a sheet of plywood is a good start. You can have the hardware store split them to the sizes you need. You take 2 long boards about 1.5 foot tall and the lenght of the bed and then you cut notches in them so that your widith board can sit in it. These can be done with a jig sale and as long as you have supporting middle one you can then now cut slats to fill the space. Using some wood glue and some screws/nails/staples you can add in the pieces to keep the boards from sliding. Paint them and I think if you hunt around you might find some edging that can go over them for say hardwood floors. Either way the hole thing will pack up quite easy in to a small space. If you move every 2 or 3 years you can just buy a new memory foam for around 150. I just got a new 10 inch off amazon for $195.29 tax included. It was 179. Just toss the old one unless you want to make your own couch, chairs. We took our old one and cut it up in to sections to use in our outdoor rockers, swings and on the porch.
Just google Interlock OSB Bookshelf and you will find all kinds of ideas on how to make a super nice bed frame./

This was such a great video to watch, thank you for taking the time to show us! I love watching DIY videos and definitely look forward to seeing more bed frames being made as well as other projects you have planned! I love how much storage space the bed frame has and the paint job is beautiful, too! I hope to try my hand in making one specifically modeled after IKEA’s Gjöra birch bed frame. But one made from a different type of wood as I’ve heard birch isn’t very easy to stain? By chance do you have any tips on rounding out the spindles? Also, I think there might have been a missed opportunity on a bee pun when you had the bee around. You should have totally said, “bee free, my friend!” 🤣 But it looked like he had other plans lol and was more like “Bee there or Bee Squared” when it came to your bed frame project! 😂 🛏️ 🐝
