So great to see you guys chatting Star Wars together on here, love love love the collab and what a fantastic build, you guys are speaking to my Star Wars heart fella and you nailed it!
I was grinning through this whole video - this was so awesome! The music was great and I really enjoyed seeing all the "greeblies" - I never knew that was a thing!
Brian is the man! Super kind, genuine guy! This was a fantastic collaboration and Bob & the iltms team delivered yet again! Thanks for the great content!
@@TheSmugglersRoom of course! I still have plans for the box of Greeblies you sent me. It may be a while before I use them but I will 100% build that spaceship dashboard one day!
That etched plexi with the LEDS is awesome - as a woodworker even the slightest bit of tech stuff like that is mind-blowing and makes me want to learn more!
Fantastic work as always, but I especially loved how you cut back and forth between the "kicking butt" and "doing his best" songs. Keep it up, Bob and team!
As far as your comments about spraying/sprayers and how you don't like the ones that you have tried: I was of the same opinion, but that was because I was using the lower end brands of sprayers. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a top of the line 5 Stage Fuji HVLP Sprayer. I retrofitted it with a 3M PPS disposable cup system and now spraying is like living a dream. Super easy to use, suoer easy to clean up and all my finishes (shellac, latex, oil, poly, etc) come out looking like a factory finish. Spend the money and you won't be disappointed.
Really fantastic work, Bob! It looks beautiful! 😃 Just one tip, I disassembled lots of old and broken printers to get parts for my DIY stuff... Mostly dc motors, there are some fantastic ones in old printers! And, anyway, there are LOTS of small parts that would look fantastic for something like that! I have a bunch of them that I couldn't throw away. 😂 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Wow, that is commitment to a concept. A lot of detail for Star Wars fun purposes. One of a kind thing that a lot of Star Wars nerds are going to covet.
I've been wondering what the "big project" was since you mentioned it on your podcasts last week! This was WELL worth the wait and the week off. As always, stellar work and thank you guys for making these large scale projects seem so much more approachable! It's encouraged me to just jump in and start making things and I know I'm not alone on that.
Thanks for the inspiration, Bob. After a year of making UA-cam videos I decided to build a Star Wars themed display case for all the props I've made and this was really helpful.
Brian talking about making the panels brings back some memories. I'm an IT guy and I worked with a guy who made space ships, etc. from scratch and I would save all of the interesting little pieces from electronics and stuff for him. He was probably tired of all the random stuff I would give him.
I love the Aesthetic of this thing - it looks amazing! From a functional standpoint as an IT professional can I please ask you install a Smoke/Heat detection alarm immediately above that thing though....between the wooden structure and some of the gear you've got in there it's a small risk, but an increased one over a standard 'ugly' server rack that someone could happen 😉
Such a nice video. Really cool build. I really love the music in this video I think it went so well with the camera footage. And the bits on Josh with the 3D print is hilarious. Thanks ILTMS.
I have a few different sprayers... never go back to just using spray cans. LPHV bottom fed is my fave. 1mm, 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm guns for all the different paints and finishes...Also love my Graco Pro airless and the Graco Handheld for bigger projects. I still use rattle can for smaller stuff and specialty colors or finishes.
Thank you Bob, I love the attention to detail along with the explanation of how and why. Which leads to a question. Why not make the control panel like a secretaries desk where it is hinged to open? You'd have easier access to your storage. Please, keep the videos coming.
Super cool stuff ! And the collab with Brian is also great. I follow both of you since quite a long time now and all your buildings are always amazing ! Greetings from Belgium !
Wow this is awesome and I love how you and Bryan are working together I would like to see more of that, I also like all the little details in there and one that caught my eye was the LEGO brick separators. Its things like that, that will make any build more interesting
Excellent build. I have a few questions, if you don't mind. 1) What tape did you use while cutting the mdf to hold it together? 2) What did you put behind the small screen at the top left, to stop the leds from showing? 3) What are those Lego pieces? Thanks, and get better every time!
Talking about rattle cans and such with spray paint, I have a trigger so I don't have to use my finger and can just squeeze a lot easier, and it honestly is a really good alternative, especially when you want to use spray paint
I like a lot of your builds, but I think this is the first time I have ever hit the like button just based off the thumbnail and intro shot! Amazing build!
Since you mentioned music equipment being 19" rack mount as well, you could also fit some eurorack or similar synth components in where the "control panel" segments are. Actually, eurorack is a good modular standard, anyway, so just make whatever components you want to that size!
One easy addition if your network gear is on rails and not just hanging on ears would be linear actuators to rack out each unit. It would make use of the dead space behind your decorative panels. I've been planning on doing this with my own rack along with the intro to Welcome to the Machine timed to the extension of the actuator. Some sort of smoke Gen would be awesome to provide that cryo effect, but I'm not sure what would produce dense white smoke that's oder less and residue free without being high maintenance.
Hey Bob as I mention in your other star wars display case you may want to look into *EL Wire* Its about the size of copper wire but when low AC voltage is applied to it it will glow brightly! There are many colors to choose from and since its low voltage AC its pretty much portable. Also depending on how you use it it will look like those neon signs. Again check it as it may help in places where LEDS or other lighting might not Thanks and keep up the awesome work!!! ^^
One of the projects on my short list is a wooden Dejarik/Holochess board in the style of a classic maple/walnut chess board. Would love to see you tackle something like that - especially how you would handle the concentric rings of the board and compound curves of the edges!
Kewl beans!! The only thing I think coulda made it even 'geekier' would've been to assemble the greebly that you put together at @ 25:00 on the shaft of a reclaimed microwave turntable motor-- these are usually 5-6 RPM (slow!) torquey little motors, and having that part randomly rotating (only attach it to the front or middle plates, let the others 'freewheel') would trip out even the geekiest of SW nerds!! Keep on keepin' on-- 🤖
It would have been cool if a keyboard, track pad and mini pc was added even a couple of usb ports for game pads as to uterlise the screen more. also if you had some smart home switches you could control the area lighting and shop equiptment from there too. Great work Bob Keep it up.
I'm not sure if you've tried it before but Lord adhesive is pretty good for a bunch of applications. They have different kinds that fit into caulking guns and all that.
This is awesome as well as collaborating with (Brian) The Smugglers Room, totally cool! He got me into greeblies. I've been collecting all kinds of stuff lol!
Thank you so much for having us along on the project Bob! It was so great to work with you and your team!
Nice shoutout to you !!!! Quality is recognised eventually !!!!
Been a fan of both of your channels for a while. Really cool seeing you collaborate.

The best part is that acrylic screen with the LED edge lighting after you put the black backing! The whole this looks fantastic you guys!
this might be the coolest thing you have ever made. also learned a lot about the design of props awesome video and great work

Keep the awesome work up!
Cool dich hier zu treffen :D

I think this might be my favorite project you have done. It really looks like it belongs in the Star Wars Universe.
Hey Bob, I recommend the Wham Bam Flexible Build System for your resin printers. No more stuck parts.
I have the Wham Bam Flexible Build System. Prints pop right off the build plate with ease.
I love this colaboration, I love both of these channels. When you guys post it is a highlight for my week.
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you Roger!
Brian’s work is beautiful and I found his channel from your previous videos!
Awesome co-op video and a brilliant build!

Next level guys... awesome collaboration. Really impressive use of found objects, 3d printing, cnc, etc.
This may just be your coolest project ever. Brought a big a smile to my face
Finally Brian works with a UA-camr I'm already subscribed to. That entertainment stand looks great. Can't wait to try it for myself.
I really liked that shot at ~ 4:53 where you used the black box to zoom in, in sync with the music, good job on the project

I love the use of 2 paces of music near the end between Josh and Bob. It helped break it up and made it amusing

Wow, thanks!

That turned out seriously cool, loved the side lit acrylic piece at the top, very nice

That thing is ridiculous and I love it!
Nice edit queuing up the music with the glue segment

this is such a cool project. i have never heard of greeblees (spell check lol) such an awesome touch!
