I started learning to play Rockabilly years ago. ( I currently own 3 Gretsch's in my herd ) I had the pleasure of growing up in the same town as Brian Setzer and we are the same age. We both started playing around the same time, and Brian was SO into Jump or Jive guitar which is so closely related to Rockabilly, that it was mind blowing to watch, I as a guy who was basically learning classic blues rock was in WAY over my head. This and rockabilly, are by far, the hardest thing I've ever tried to learn. Theres no faking it, you cant be sloppy, its clean, unforgiving. And if you've never seen Setzer play, you MUST know your fretboard, and your "jazz" chords very well, to play it well. Watching Setzer play AND sing, AND move around WHILE jammin' stuff like this, is unreal. Great vid!!!
Love it!!!❤️ Thanks for talking to people like we are smart, Instead of going too slow and thinking we won’t get it,lol. I appreciate your direct and forward pace. It’s a good teaching style...👍🤗😀
Wow, this is really cool! Those jazzy chords always fascinated me in the blues. I especially like the slow blues demonstration at the very end of the Premium part where you said you got carried away. I think you should do that more often, Brian ;)
His premium site is the best 10 bucks a month I've spent in a long time. I'm an old guy trying to get better at blues/jazz, and the way he connects everything together and gives you concepts that are usable in ALL your playing is second to none. Thanks for your amazing content.
Wow. Brian, I'm so glad I ran across this! It sounds great, and it looks REALLY FUN to PLAY! I can't wait to try it out! I just watched the first video, and when you explain everything, suddenly it's so easy! A lot of stuff in there, but I followed every bit. I did try a couple of the licks, and I love 'em! But I need to go to bed soon, have to get up in a couple hours. So I'll wait until then to actually practice it. Before I start trying to play it, I'm gonna hafta watch one more time...lotta stuff in there! Thanks, Brian! 👌 👍
Love this lesson Brian. One question, everything I have been reading says that on a jazz 2-5-1 that is the 2-5-1 of the IV chord, but are doing it based upon the I chord. So I guess it can be done either way? Im supposing. I wonder which is more commomplace?
Hey Brian! Great lesson, you just made my.. next week or so.. 😄 Can you please give us the link of the 2-5-1 turnaround lesson? Premium member and lovin' it! Thanks!
Anthony 147, I must have missed the part about a 2-5-1 lesson. I love 2-5-1 chord progressions. P.S., I'm thinking about becoming a Premium member. It sounds like you're getting a lot of it.
@@stevedouglas7375 Got you Steve! I'm waiting for the link for the 2-5-1 turnaround, (check 17:28 onwards) otherwise I'll have to do some digging in the activemelody website... Give it a try, it's great.. too much good stuff! Best tuition money I've ever spent!
Hi Brian, You do a great job of explaining how chords are structured. However it would be a greater help if you were to put a chord diagram with the explanation. Sometimes it's difficult to distinguish which strings you're mentioning and the chord diagram would be very helpful. Thanks.
WOW! I just understood what you mean by calling that chord an F#m while also being an A6! So cool.

Absolute 🔥 sounds like junior watson
Hey Brian, I always get something from your lessons. It's really helping to jazz up my blues playing. BTW, what is that T-shirt?
Jerry Garcia
I thought it was Frodo :)
I am currently studying II V I blues, I would like that link to previous video

Too cool 😎
Great stuff (as always)!

Nice Mate 😎

Antony 147, in my previous comment to you I meant to say --- "It sounds like you're getting a lot 'out' of it." No big deal. Just clarifying is all.

@@antonakis79ohyes Cool! Thank you Anthony for your reply. I appreciate it. Alrighty then, I'm going to go for it!
And on a squeaky Tele! 😉
Dam Brian I’m a 30 year seasoned player and I can’t play as well as that, thanks 🙏
Is that a print of Jerry Garcia's hand on your T-shirt?
Really dig the progression. Your 2 5 1 is really a 2 7 1 in this isn't it? It's good either way. Thanks Brian
how ya figure? Bm = 2, E = 5, A = 1
Sorry I didn't see you play the 5. b minor to a flat diminished to A 9
Brian I want to wear you skin j/k I just can't explain how much you a are appreciated
Phantom finger!
I like it. A little jimmy Vaughan.
How many decades will it take me to play like that?
Very "Hollywood Fats" ! Nice...
Nice song. The link to the tab doesn't work though.
fixed it - thanks!
First man
I deserve a guitar hehe.....
Kidding 🤣
Clapton rang me, he want to buy your hat.

The tab has the chords listed
You have to pay for it and it is worth and you get more than just tabs
Good lesson but ugly sound
Those are not blues cords, they sound like rag time
Jump blues uses jump blues chords.
Great. Thank you. (Like most of these vids... you talk too much.)
yep - and will continue doing so. :)
