Man, I really wish there were lessons like this readily available when I was starting out learning lead guitar. For me, a lot of it was like reinventing the wheel... That was really clear and concise.
As dreadful as the pandemic was, it was a boon for rockabilly guitar lessons on UA-cam! Been learning from Damian for years and now we've got your stuff Jeff, El Nico, Adrian White, Ryan Bradley... a silver lining in an otherwise horrible situation.
Six string, Damian and Adrian Whyte, thanks all, I donalways have time to sit and pick things out off records, your lessons a great references for me, thanks again!
Cool comments here everyone, I really like Adrian Whyte’s lessons same as Paul and Rocco. I’m a big big fan of Randy Richter’s lessons too. Those two along with Damian’s and Jeff’s seem to be my favorites. 🤠 It’s a good community and I hope it not only keeps this wonderful music alive but helps it to thrive!
Hey Damien I'm an 82 year old geezer from Wales UK who loves your rockabilly teach in's. In my book you are the best and make the lessons do-able Happy disposition and a fantastic teacher and great player -what more could a guy want. Many many thanks. Ivor
A Cool lick back in the day! A Cool lick in The Now!! Will be A Cool lick 100 yrs from now!!! Sooo, I guess what i'm saying is, "thanx for sharing this Cool Lick," Ha!
Great lesson Damian. I like the multiple angles that you used during the lesson. Very nice touch and helpful. Looking forward to seeing some footage of the Misfits tribute gig! I think you’re the only person that has as many band shirts as me LOL. By the way, Prince was one of my earliest arena shows. Saw him on the 1999 tour back in the very early 80s. The openers were the Time and Vanity 6. It was like the whole Purple Rain thing before Purple Rain existed (just with Vanity 6 instead of Apollonia 6). Cool shirt brother. Take care.
Wow, that must have been an awesome experience. Thanks for sharing. My next video will be footage from the Misfits Tribute Show. That's gonna be a fun video to edit. :)
What I really enjoy with your lessons is the musicality of them. They're not just glorified scales for speed and technique. There is a real melodic structure to them
Your hikes inspired me to check out Starved Rock hiking trails in Illinois, very fun and beautiful...lots of high look outs overlooking the Illinois River. Thanks for the lessons, I've been writing them down in my tab book ..
Another great lesson! Love being a you-tube student of yours. My ear has become so much better because of your lessons-thanks for these (and use the phrase "much love" as well!).
I've been to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg about 15 times. It's been years ago but one fall we were there (Pigeon Forge) and every restaurant on the six lane had a long line of people standing outside! Soectacular in the fall and any other time; refreshes your soul...
Hi Damian, I am very fortunate to have listned to this Video to the end ! What a anticipated Christmas present that is ....Thanks & be well. From São Paulo 🇧🇷 Best regards.
I know I'm going to get plenty of negative replies, but I'm sorry, I just don't care. This is what we used to call honesty, and hard truths back in the day before saying boo on Halloween could get you "cancelled". Your guitar playing is some of the more inspired I've seen trying to find someone to learn from on UA-cam. Enough so that I'd even CONSIDER paying for your version of "the course", but unfortunately, your version of "UA-cam speak" (I don't know what else you'd call it) is so hard to watch, I wouldn't be able to handle it. That cadence of speech is hard to stomach on a good day. Whomever it was that originally got the idea in their head, that talking like that would get more views, or make you look anything other than ridiculous, did you and the rest of the world, an extreme disservice. Id stay quiet and politically correct, or whatever we're calling it these days, but I guess today was when I just had enough, and I'm cognizant enough of that to say I'm sorry for my honest opinion.in the end, thats all it is... mine. So carry on. I'm sure you're doing fine without me. Maybe watch yourself sometime though. Look at the difference between the natural quality of your guitar playing, versus your ability to pull of that ridiculous sounding patwa, and say you don't see the dichotomy betwixt the two! If you'd just talk as naturally as you play guitar, your videos would rock...abilly.
I really enjoyed this video Damien. Its so cool that guys like yourself take the time to share your talents. I was born in the early 50's, and I'm envious of kids these days that want to learn guitar or any instrument for that matter ,that they can just go on You Tube and learn stuff in a short period of time, that took me years to learn by playing along with records by ear. That's a real sweet sounding Gretsch you have there too! Keep up the good work and those inspirational comments were a nice finishing touch. You have a new Subscriber...
Hi Tom. No, not this year. But I have plans to record her singing "Rag Mop" soon with maybe a guest drummer & piano player. Hopefully that video will come out sometime in January. :)
Woooooow... I mean, I like Gretsch stuff as much as the next catbeast, but I have to know... how do you play a guitar that's so clearly twice as big as you are?
Thanks, I mean really..just thanks... Ya go holding that headstock right up to the camera and I've already got a problem on my hands you know what it is? *I need a Gretsch so bad I can taste it* Thanks for sharing, great time, great playing, goodness
Can we please get how to play Chattanooga choo choo hill Haley’s version??? I haven’t found anywhere on how to play it ua-cam.com/video/Ul22mBkkKww/v-deo.html
Like i said in my other reply.. you have good licks but you teaching method is not that great. Yoi go way to fast yoi should waych other teachers on here like marty swartz. Edit.. for that matter justin guitar has a great teaching method
Man anyone else guilty of learning the small lessons enjoying them and then not playing them for a good while and totally forgetting them. It kind of bums me out
Damian FAN I am saving my pennies to get the Download Version. Totally Enjoy your Instruction. Got interested in the "MyTwangyGuitar Series ! Are You Him?
Sounds wonderful. Love the way you incorporated the riff into that solo about midway thru the lesson-- did you create the solo by building it around the riff, or did you just insert the riff into an existing solo? (hope that makes sense!)
5:59 That A6/9 chord deserves a lesson all its own-is that from Jazz? Did ANY Blues players know it? Did Chuck ever actually use it in a famous song? What simpler chords can be used here? maybe a diminished chord of some kind?
Damian..i love your lessons..i see you have really evolved from your first videos..at almost 70 years old...i have learned so much from your stuff..please tell me what delay you use..so i can go get one..thank you sooooo much.
I was just watching a Chuck Berry video hearing a similar lick and thinking, that sounds great, ‘I should learn that!’ And then here this video is! Thanks dude, this is a great channel!
One of the best sounding guitar tones on ANY tutorial I have seen. Right up there with Tim Pierce & Andy Timmons
Love your approach to instruction.
As a "Practicing Guitarist" since 1974, I really like your lessons.
Man, I really wish there were lessons like this readily available when I was starting out learning lead guitar. For me, a lot of it was like reinventing the wheel... That was really clear and concise.
You ain’t wrong Jeff. I think about that periodically. Looks like I’m a couple lessons behind on your channel, hope to hit those yet this weekend.
Thank you very much Jeff. I'm a big fan of your channel as well. Keep on rockin' brother. :)

Nice! New sub!
For a young player all you need is this lick and maybe stick in a couple more notes and this is all you need to have one fun time rockin'!

My grandma could play that good job buddy
👍👍👍👍
He's gotta be the nicest guy in guitar tutorials. Thanks for the lesson Damian!
I especially loved your message at the end, Damian. Thanks for all you do, brother Bacci!!!

Is there anything in Rockabilly that is _not_ overused?!
Reminds me of Mr. Slave from South Park with the chain on his neck
You got any more? I would like to see how to play double stops all over the neck, and how to use that the best ways. Ok thanks.
We are all greatful for your lessons..🎸
Thank you very much John. Keep on rockin' my friend. :)

The Misfits skull… Purple Rain shirt… rockabilly riffs… I’m so confused.
Soooooooooooooooooo will you and your daughter be treating us to another cool Christmas tune this year?
Hi Tom. No, not this year. But I have plans to record her singing "Rag Mop" soon with maybe a guest drummer & piano player. Hopefully that video will come out sometime in January. :)

Thank you for this lesson and the message 😊
Loved the lesson and the cabin my friend!
Isn't any power chord riff technically a "double stop lick"?
Rockabilly, Prince, Misfits and Metallica … you are a complicated man.
Can’t wait to get home to try this for a while I have a tune that them licks would be perfect for cheers lad from Ireland 🇮🇪 Brian

You play it too fast for me to see what your doing. Can you please slow it down more and send it to me? Thanks
So that one scene from one of those Austin Powers movies just won't get out of my mind. Shame on me.
Just found your channel. Love it 🎸🎸🎸
Damian, do you do private lessons? I live in Tampa.
Please tell me that you have some music on Spotify or something?
Dude you rock
Damian FAN I am saving my pennies to get the Download Version. Totally Enjoy your Instruction. Got interested in the "MyTwangyGuitar Series ! Are You Him?
Thank you for watching the lessons. Keep on rockin' my friend :)
Splendid stuff! So well presented. I'm going to master this lick, subscribe and buy the course. Nice one, Damian.
Life is short ! Filled with stuff...dont know what for...I aint had enough!!!! R I P Lux Interior. Another awesome lesson as always !
Thank you Tom. :)
Sounds wonderful. Love the way you incorporated the riff into that solo about midway thru the lesson-- did you create the solo by building it around the riff, or did you just insert the riff into an existing solo? (hope that makes sense!)
The "Shortnin' Bread" lick...
I detected a greatful dead vibe there. Nice job.
How do you like that Setzer "Smoke" gheetar?
Thanks Damian - your words are right - especially during these dark times.
Dude, need to show how to play the buzz saw twist...
Very cool. BTW, I just became the owner of a 2004 one owner White Falcom with Bigsby. My dream guitar.
That's awesome and congratulations. :)
5:59 That A6/9 chord deserves a lesson all its own-is that from Jazz? Did ANY Blues players know it? Did Chuck ever actually use it in a famous song? What simpler chords can be used here? maybe a diminished chord of some kind?
The 6/9 chord is my go to chord for an ending when playing Rockabilly. Gene Vincent's guitarist Cliff Gallup used it a lot. Thanks for watching. :)
Until this day I regret the moment your gig in Belgium was cancelled due Covid. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK!
I hear ya. One of these days I'll get over that way again. We'll make it happen. :)
I appreciate someone wearing a Prince shirt while playing Country guitar. I like wearing metal bands and playing soft Americana.
Thanks for watching :)
You're the best!! Keep on rockin"!!!
Thanks man. I always wanted to play like that!
I feel like I seen that cabin in a music video
Subscription added! you have that all nailed down brother. Love it! ... thanks.

Dude that cabin is awesome. I bet there’s some paranormal activity inside that sucker at nighttime
I'm sure the mice & rats have the run of the place at night. Thanks for watching. :)
Your such a likeable guy😊
Is there anything better than a Gretsch for playing stuff like this? No, no there's not :) Thanks for the fun lesson.
Thanks for watching :)
Hey fiend, I liked your lesson.
Ya know, I wish you could wake up a bit and bring some energy. Sheesh.
I'll try and drink some coffee next time :)
I was just watching a Chuck Berry video hearing a similar lick and thinking, that sounds great, ‘I should learn that!’ And then here this video is! Thanks dude, this is a great channel!
Awesome. Thanks for watching Alex :)
