@@vivredeseaux That's a valid take actually. I also loved a lot of sequels. In fact, I enjoyed rewatching sequels more than the main movies (especially while multitasking) because I liked seeing the characters already met up and living their lives together! It's why Toy Story 3 was my most nostalgic one: I preferred it since it already had Jessie And Bullseye and all of the other toys integrated together. With Mulan 2, the secret is already out so everyone knows, which is fun to watch.
Yeah, amazingly bad. Of all the Disney direct-to-dvd sequels, this is one of the worst. Mushu becomes such an unlikable villain here, with no real punishment or redemption. The drama with Mulan and Chang's relationship is so bad. And they don't even resolve the big conflict at the end, no alience against the Mongols are formed because no one got married. China is doomed. And yet, this is still 100× better than the Mulan live-action remake.
Not only that- but the timeline of when these events take place is a mess. It's a mishmash of multiple time periods of when things take place and it's very confusing. So the reason the dvd sequels get a bad rep is because most of them were basically 3 pilot episodes combined into a movie. They picked the most successful ones and made shows out of them, which is how we got the Lilo and Stitch show and Emperors New School.
The earlier direct to video sequels has lower quality animation due to having a TV budget since it was done by their television studios. Around 1998, a lot of their studios got Toon Boom software to do their films digitally and it increased the quality ( Japan did not get it hence why Hunchback 2 looked like it was from the early 1990s)
They tried to turn Mushu into an anti-villain in this movie, whose selfish motive is that if Mulan gets married, Mushu will be fired. But the audience didn't like this change because Mushu was the hero in the first movie and not the villain like in this direct-to-DVD sequel.

Don’t let spilling the milk gaslight you. This is a bad movie, not the worst Disney sequel. one of the better ones in terms of direct-to-DVD sequels, but it’s still bad. This has so many things in it that you would think would make them dislike this movie, especially Kor.
"gaslight"
Meh, I liked it
It’s not that bad tbh
Gaslight lol
It's a Disney movie, calm down
If jack was here he would’ve ensure that
YESSSSSS INA IS BACK YOU GUYS DID IT IM SO HAPPY
I thought this movie was fun, but I absolutely hated that the princesses and the trio fell in love with each other.
Edit: 7:42 YEAH EDEN GETS IT! ALSO LIKE THE TRIO ALL WANTED SPECIFIC THINGS IN THEIR WIFE, AND OF ALL THE THINGS ORANGE GIRLIE DOESNT FIT WITH CHIEN-PO’S LIST! LIKE HE WANTS A WIFE WHO CAN COOK, BUT ORANGE GIRLIE? SHE JUST LIKES FOOD LIKE HIM! SHES ALSO A PRINCESS SO WHAT COOKING HAS SHE DONE??? Unless he decided that marrying a foodie is better, and then again if he marries a princess then there will be a royal chef to cook his meals so I guess it does work out if you think about it that way.
6:23 Mulan was literally sent to a matchmaker in the first movie before she went to war
Mulan offering herself to the other kingdom to help the other princesses is a truly bro move.
VHS jump scare 4:19 👁️👄👁️
i actually did see mulan 2 before mulan .
not on purpose. i watched mulan when i was little, but didn't remember anything about it. we watched mulan 2 a lot for whatever reason. 8-or-something year old me thought that maybe mulan was scary or "inappropriate" and never asked to because i though i would get in trouble.
the first time i watched mulan was at my grandma's funeral, but that's another can of worms
Thank god you guys changed that thumbnail
11:01 Nooooo! 😂😂😂 I Love It!
Oh my goodness! You guys should watch the original Disney Cinderella movie, and then watch the Cinderella 3!!! Cinderella 3 is ironically one of my favorite Disney animated movies!
4:05 I watched Mulan 2 before I saw the first one and I saw the first one years later lmao (Same with Aladdin I didn’t see the first one until a few years ago I saw the 2nd and 3rd one before the actual first one) I owned them on DVD but never the first Mulan and Aladdin movie 💀
The best direct to video Disney movies are Cinderella 3 and Ariel's Beginning fight me. But this movie was still really fun. Also the scream at 16:06
“Direct to dvd” is so specific I’m glad you guys care that I want to now what version it is too🗿👍
Wishing for jack to get better. :) and this movie was childhood. But the first is always the best.
This was a pretty nice and wholesome movie. 😊
Bro this is the fastest I’ve ever clicked on a spilling the milk video 😂
Doug Walker/Nostalgia Critic’s review on Mulan 2 really influenced me to not giving this movie a positive experience, especially the whole point why the princesses need to marry to make alliances and save china from Mongols fell apart. But hey, the designs are decent for a direct to DVD movie.
4:15 actually my grandparents only had the VHS for mulan 2 lol, and I vividly remember the chopsticks in the nose scene and always thought that was from the first movie till today. They had that and like hello kittys paradise, which i loved. maybe thats why im bi
Movie sucks sure but we get long hair Shang and I'm NOT complaining 😭
4:06 I think I did that. I know I’ve seen this movie as a kid but I haven’t actually watched Mulan. Same with Hunchback of Norte Dame. I’ve seen the second movie but not the first
12:45 bro my headphones decided to make a noise right there so all I heard was “one order of s-“ 😭
They should watch the Lilo & Stitch sequels. Before Leroy & Stitch. And the TV series.

The Fox and the Hound and its sequel please!
Reallll i always hear the sequel is bad but growing up i didnt know it was a sequel and thats all the fox abd the hound i knew lol
@@gusherxcrusheras a kid I always wanted more of them together as kids so the sequel being that was exactly what I wanted. I got the dvd for Christmas the year they released it💕
@hayleyhellbound9513 that's so cool! Ngl I kinda grew up wondering why it was called "2" if it was the only one I'd seen lol
I think this is one of the only movies where you show the ending scene, usually you just instantly plug your patreon but you couldn't think of anything so Eden just clapped. Not complaining just something i noticed with your videos.
I just got a PF Chang’s ad in the first 3 minutes of the video … UA-cam ain’t hiding nothing …
The only good part of this insulting sequel was the really good chemistry between the princesses and Lee, Chen Po, and Yao.
This right here, that is the main reason i am ok with this movie
Them bringing up the possibility of someone seeing the sequel first is very real and I am that person expect it was with the Little Mermaid I was the second one before I ever saw the first one lmaooo
4:05 I actually watched the second Milan movie first and I didn’t know it was a sequel for years!
Edit: Mulan
1:23 long before time had a name
"AND NEXT TIME, DON'T LEAVE YOUR POST!!!"
Yknow movies like this made child me think that an arranged marriage was going to eventually be a problem for me
DA Fack did you just say? 12:40 💀
Just sittin here eating pizza watching spilling the milk 👌
This was the one I saw first. Watched the original maybe a bit after highschool. First one is definitely a better movie but 2 has some charm to it. I liked the romance with the soldiers and princesses.
I love when they collab with Ina, she's my favorite guest commentator
I can't wait for Jack to wake from his 30yr coma
You know what else is surprisingly good?
*Dan Vs.*
17:10 Mulan became Reiner fr 😭

@@maria-cz1pf NOW TELL ME THE THINGS YOU'RE BLABBING ABOUT BEHIND MY BACK
I have the DVD for half these straight-to-video sequels. I am more nostalgic for those than to the first movies, which I only watched short after already watching these sequels (mostly)
