I never got the hate for this movie. I know a decent amount and used to actively try to learn about mythology, but I still love this movie so much. It has a great soundtrack, a fantastic badguy, and a good story. This movie also debuted in theatres saying “this is not a lesson in mythology”.
I'm surprised Kor and Eden used to be knowledgeable on Greek mythology as kids but forgot most of it into adulthood, because that's exactly how it was for me.
I was six when I saw this film in theaters and became obsessed with it for years afterward. My parents got me so many of the toys, especially the Hydra which remains one of my favorite Mythic Greek creatures. I drew it countless times. In my opinion, its animation holds up well specifically BECAUSE the animators wanted it to stand out. It was very deliberately stylized, and they approached it with the goal of creating something both cartoonish & visually stunning. It's difficult to articulate exactly, but the motion of it gives my brain this feeling of it walking this uncanny line between 2D & 3D. I like that aspect of it partially because it made the monster look scarier to me which benefitted its impact. Could it have looked better within the film's world in pure 2D? Perhaps, but I don't think it would have been realistic to try that in 1997. Considering how ambitious the film's vision for this monster was, particularly with the amount of heads onscreen at once towards the end, animating it in 2D only would likely have required drastically reducing their number. This is one main reason I'm glad the animators stuck to their guns. Part of what makes this sequence so memorable is PRECISELY all those heads. It's a defining element of what made the monster so intimidating to me as a viewer. Since I knew nothing about the mythos on my first watch, I worried how Hercules could possibly win against this seemingly unkillable behemoth. Him fighting inside that mess of giant, bright serpent eyes & snapping teeth terrified me. Most depictions of the Hydra in books or other media only have it regenerate a few heads. I'm glad this was my first exposure to it because, as far as I'm concerned, Disney's incarnation is far and away the most visually badass. Then, I got the PC game and was addicted to that for a while (The Hydra boss being my favorite part). I'd sit at my monitor almost every day after school and try to finish it. It was awesome to feel like I was playing through the film. I loved seeing the cutscenes from the movie, listening to adaptations of the music throughout the levels, and felt like I was on cloud 9 when I finally beat the game. My folks even took me to see Hercules on Ice at the Richmond Coliseum. For my young self, seeing the Hercules actor's sword cut slime out of the puppet Hydra was epic. On our way out, we got a mug based on the one he drinks from in the movie which I kept & used well into high school until it finally broke. So yeah, this remains not only one of my top favorite Disney movies but one of my favorite films in general. It kickstarted my interest in Greek Mythology. Hercules, while some criticize him as a bland protagonist, was fun and wholesome. I wanted to grow up to treat the love of my life (whenever I meet her) with the same love, respect, devotion, and kindness he showed Megara. James Woods as Hades is still one of my favorite villains. Danny DeVito as Phil was hilarious. Some of my favorite Disney songs are in this. Lastly, as someone who grew up feeling like an outsider in my own ways, I pleasantly related to Hercules' arc of wanting to belong and realizing by the finale that his place was on Earth. It was with the people who already loved & accepted him. And Meg loved him for who he was, not for his power or fame. He didn't need godhood to become the best version of himself because his greatest strength was his good heart.
4:21 no bro, this is our average protagonist character and our avatars in videogames. Let not forget Zeus banging everything else under the sky an beyond so if I were the strongest Human ever until now, then I would suspect the mofo is my father (and might her mother lie to her husband, lol)

5:29 this is a very hazardous phrase to use in regards to Zeus.
9:23 he forgot to GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK
4:09 How f*cking dare you! Son of a bread
How is it that Hercules could kill all of the Titans so easily, yet Zeus and the other gods couldn’t do anything?
Well, the Titans are deathless, like the Gods, so none of them should be able to kill them.
Danny De Vito singing One Last Hope does not suck guys!🤦🏽♀️ I can't help but hear it with a big smile on my face and tap my foot along with it.Those instrumentals ✨ 👌👌👌Month 8 asking for Good Burger and Dreamworks Wallace and Gromit curse of the Wererabbit 🥕 🦔🐣 🐇
Oh that’s why you always have new episodes right after school THE END OF MY SCHOOL IS WHEN YOU POST THE GODS SMILE ON ME
4:10 this literally killed me. That song is amazing and you just compared it with "Here I are"
Zeus’s sister is his wife and he cheats on her with his other sister 😭
I never got the hate for this movie. I know a decent amount and used to actively try to learn about mythology, but I still love this movie so much. It has a great soundtrack, a fantastic badguy, and a good story.
This movie also debuted in theatres saying “this is not a lesson in mythology”.
15:45 aged perfectly 😭
Yeah I had to check when this was released once they said that

I think they have watched MLP on the channel
@@SyiepherzeTheir still haunted by it
I'm surprised Kor and Eden used to be knowledgeable on Greek mythology as kids but forgot most of it into adulthood, because that's exactly how it was for me.
1:12 That's the most nerd emoji thing i have ever heard 🤓
He's not wrong though
0:50 u damn know that disney itself would be make such a scene by that
4:16 I just realized Hercules and Superman have the same backstory in this
I was six when I saw this film in theaters and became obsessed with it for years afterward.
He didn't need godhood to become the best version of himself because his greatest strength was his good heart.
scrolling through the comments and immediately spotting all Percy Jackson readers. i know what you are.
10:49 Out of all the songs the editor could use, Sand Planet by Miku was the last thing I expected
Got me barking like a dog. Whoof whoof
Perseus which was one of the heroes he named didn’t let him down because he killed Medusa,a ton of other monsters and had seven kids with a hottie
14:55
That’s wild af 😂
5:58 I feel personally attacked
4:21 no bro, this is our average protagonist character and our avatars in videogames. Let not forget Zeus banging everything else under the sky an beyond so if I were the strongest Human ever until now, then I would suspect the mofo is my father (and might her mother lie to her husband, lol)
I love how they say “oh my god, this is like the Mario movie” as if that came out afterwards 😂
EDEN’S BACK!
this was such a funny react ugh i love this movie and the soundtrack, won't say i'm in love is constantly playing in my mind
They named the movie Hercules wich is the Roman mythology name instead of the Greek one Heracles because Hercules is way more popular
shoutout to the editor for the random fancams done at the whim of the spillers of milk
Ah yes, one of my favorite Disney movies!
Corey Burton voiced this Zeus in the show and also another Zeus from God of War who is a foil to this Zeus. What a nice moral compass example, also Rip Torn voiced him in the movie, who is also Hephasteus in GOW 3
