After not playing guitar for 10yrs and just getting back into it I guess I'm an odd man out. I'm a solo artist, wanting to write/record my own music, live in an apartment, don't think I'll be playing live at all... this suits my needs. I don't know why all the hate. Most tonal differences I think are preference between VST's and tones/EQing that suits you as an individual. With all the "blind" test videos, the difference is so subtle that 95% of your non-musician audience won't care or won't hear it. Get what suits your ears yes, but be practical and get gear for your situation and lifestyle. Most of us will never play arenas.
Pretty much in the same boat here. I got myself a copy of Studio One and was kind of disappointed with the Ampire plugin that comes with it so I picked this up to use for my amps and effects. There are definitely "better" amp sims out there but if you're just a hobbyist putting together tracks by yourself at home you can do a lot with this plugin and it doesn't sound bad by any means.
I don't know why all the hate towards Bias FX 2. I might be pretty deaf from all the years of loud music, but some presets sounded pretty damn great to me. Definitely some mix worthy stuff in there!
Don't Know why, but all the Bias products review from OLA do not give justice to them. I use Bias Fx + Bias Amp 2 and they sound really really good, I use them live (with a RME FIREFACE UC + Line6 FBV usb pedalboard as controller) since some months. I listen the same presets I use in the OLA review and they sounds crap, "pixelate", with no presence, Negative Eq... I try lots of Guitar Plugs (TH-U, Amplitube 4, Mercuriall and so on...) and I I chose and use Bias Fx + Bias Amp 2 as finally Live choice. For me absolute the best in dynamic, sound quality and software UI. I use to play Blues, Pop and light rock John Mayer Style. It Worth the price.
I've been using various positive grid products for years now, ever since I saw keith merrow's bro 2.0 video. Introduced me to him, and you. I use a tonematched Satan I found on the tone cloud. Love how it sounds.
Such a great bedroom practice tool imo. been using bias fx1 for a couple of years now. I have found heavy sounds can be great but you really need to eq the shit out of your presets and back off the gain to get better note definition. This looks to be similar.
I use Bias everyday and it sounds great but you have to take in mind 2 things: -Stock cabs are completely shit, you can see in the video when Ola uses their own impulses with the satan and it sounds great. So pay for the Celestion expansion or use your own IRs. -Same for the amps, Bias amp necessary to make your own amps. Its a shame that a good software like that comes this way X)
Because you use Bias everyday, Do you have a solution for crackling and high pitch noise while using the mobile app? I have iphone 8 and griffin guitar connect cable, when I connect everything I get terrible crackling sound. I can get the noise go away if I change the output and the input volume, but then all the beautiful tone goes away so the app is basically unusable. Is it my cable? My settings? Even when the volume knob of my guitar is set to zero, I still hear high pitch feedback noise. I don’t know what to do, please give advice if possible, I really want to use this app. If for example I want to use Marty Friedman’s tone, I have the high pitch noise. I lower the output volume and lower a little bit the input volume, high pitch feedback noise goes away but the beautiful marty’s tone is gone and the tone sounds simple and not full and beautiful any longer.
@@88mrriss bro bias fx is getting us in a very very good direction.. just recheck your settings.. what audio interface are you using?? It’s most probably your iPhone mic activated somehow that’s picking up noise. Recheck n revert back..

I'm just stoked how easy it must be starting to play guitar now compared to what it was in 1980 for me... I didn't even own an amp for the first two years because all money was spent on the first guitar - an old second hand one, and when I got my first amp it was a really bad one - and since I couldn't afford to buy a distortion pedal I ran the guitar through an old cassette deck to get some cheap ass distortion! When I started buying pedals it was always a gamble because you got what you bought and there was no youtube where you could watch reviews so you ended up with a lot of sucky pedals... Down the line I was able to afford a descent amp and a couple rack effects and was starting to like my sound but the money invested was quite a lot. We learned how to play with what we got though! Today you have access to way better value guitars and the rest is done with a laptop! There are enough demo versions out there of amp & fx software to last you for years and if you want to go the whole distance we're talking max $100 investment for everything there is! You people have it much easier that we had it, trust me on this! I have since long replaced my amps and rack effects with software today and I can do everything with a laptop and I just love the development in this field! I don't have to borrow money from the bank to get that sweet Mark IIC+ & Mark V sound as well as all the other classical hi gain amps - AND it always works! They never break down, blow fuses or having the neighbours complaining because you play too loud since you have the same awesome with just headphones! Amp manufacturers won't be the same in 10 years time and I suspect many of them will go out of business, which is sad, but from a pure sound perspective this is the way forward every day of the week! You don't know how easy you have it today!
Jens Andree agree about 80%. The value in guitars is outstanding now. I dont think the amp makers will go out of business, provided they can roll with the tech.

Yes. I don't love it, but I have it and I do enjoy getting unnatural sounding guitar tones from it. Good for sparking creativity every now and again and making unique sounding bits.
I think I just have a couple problems with BIAS FX 2. 1) there’s a compression effect I thought was really weird, I couldn’t figure it out because I didn’t have any compressors in my chain, but I found out it was coming from the power amp section. Turning it off fixes it, but now I don’t have any power amp (which isn’t very noticeable but I notice it). I guess that’s how a power amp is supposed to work, but it didn’t feel very realistic imo. 2) I don’t think the amp sims take pedals well. Using my MT-2w with any of the high gain amps just sounds screechy and terrible. No other amp sims I’ve used have that effect. I love everything else about it though and the amps work pretty well without my pedal. I’d rather use my pedal tho...

Is BIAS FX 2 the software for this? Do they have a big data base of user generated tones I can download and use? If so which version of BIAS FX 2 should I buy? I dont want to buy one version and then have to download loads of extras
And i was blaming my audio interface for the sound this software delivers. When you hear it trough headphones alone it's terrible. You have to do some fixes in your DAW when mixing with drums and bass, to get an "ok" sound. At least they offer a refund in 30 days if you don't like it.
How does it compare to a real tube amp? Or will we find out in a few years like the valve state amps, as everything sounds great until compared to a soaring Marshall?
It's fun if you're into messing around and don't care if it doesn't sound like a real amp. If you are looking for impeccable tone, go with another plug-in like the UA stuff.
Hail Ola ! Two things: 1°. I really liked your Camo Shirt. It's amazing 2° Could you, please, "testing shit" with the Boss GT - 100 ? Cuz there are not many videos of this gear going METAL. Cheers !

Your studio is fantastic! Such cool set up vs my ghetto set up! Envious!
Can you make a song where you'd compare different apps, like biasfx fx2 fortin and maybe others? Would be great to see that
Tone Cloud versus Toad Clown. Ola must decide who will win!
Yesterday it was 12:30 today it's 3:00 a.m.
I have to stay up really late for these videos
These videos are sweet bro, love how you show everything and go through the tones. Sick Riffs & Diggin' that 2nd guitar view, looks sweet as fuck.
It's fun if you're into messing around and don't care if it doesn't sound like a real amp. If you are looking for impeccable tone, go with another plug-in like the UA stuff.
First Thanks for the Great video. I Love bias fx. At 9:22 you change the Tune. What is you gear to do that. With bias fx or a hardware Solution?😬
Do I need to purchase FX 2 and AMP 2? or FX 2 is enough?
Fx 2 is enough :) the amp 2 is different and is for designing amps. It’s really cool but different than what you’re seeing here.
Buy the most comfortable guitar to play and use guitar match. That's gold 🥇
will it be plugged into an amplifier with a bad drive of 100w? It will make you feel good? using the clean channel
Hail Ola !
Two things:
1°. I really liked your Camo Shirt. It's amazing
2° Could you, please, "testing shit" with the Boss GT - 100 ? Cuz there are not many videos of this gear going METAL. Cheers !
Ola, Neural DSP or Bias FX? What would you take for your sound?
Hella nice tone
Seems like a solid program but better than a tube amp or Kemper Profile amp?
Until you got to killer satan, I thought the software sucked. You redeemed it. Probably just like every other modeler where the installed presets suck but once you get past the learning curve you can make it sound killer.
This vid didn't sell it to me, BUT, others did. You gotta research these cause everyone's gotta different approach to their sound and presentation.
