I'm definitely getting the bias but I don't know which one to buy since there are so many to choose from THANKS FOR ANY HELP...
I’d say no because well, I’m not interested, and there’s already so much included in the base package (most of which I don’t even use). Maybe you’ll get a better feedback from Slash fans on Reddit or something because it’s quite a niche addon I think? 🙂
Hey! On your Scarlett Interface, about where is the input vol knob set? I'm playing through a Scarlett Solo with some Fender Noiseless Hot pickups and I can't get your patches to sound as good as they do here. Thanks!
I know this is a weird question but if I get a Behringer UMC22 and hook it up to my computer with the guitar plugged in. Can I use Bias FX to set a preset and play along with it in real-time, so it's kinda like a fancy amp because I really want to have different tones but I can't afford different pedals and stuff.
@@DarrylSyms Hi Darryl. Just watched your video post and comments. Sorry I'm a total nob on this. I intend to purchase the Bias FX2 and connect thru an audio interface (i.e.Focusrite 2i2) to my pc and sound output thru a pair of studio monitor (i.e. Yamaha HS7). This setup is mainly for home practice and jamming along backing tracks. Is this the correct way to setup and will this sound anything as good as yours?
Quick question! Do you think the standard version is enough? Or do you think it would be beneficial to spend the extra money for the elite version etc? I just don’t wanna spend $300 if i can get away with the standard version.
It depends how many effects and options you want. It’s best you read their site and see what the differences are: bit.ly/2Ndo4zA Personally I would opt for the standard version because I’m not really a man of many effects. However, if you want alllll the toys to play with and all the tones, then consider a higher package. Note that you may not be able to download other tonecloud presets that have elite tools of you are on a lower package
I tried to record from bias fx2 through my focusrite interface into my garageband, it does work when it actually appears i mean bias fx software but when i try to extract the file that i recorded the tone from bias fx is gone? Im i missing anything or is it supposed to hapen that? Does it only works while software is active and no recording? Please help
I've never tried the Katana, but BIAS FX will give you HEAPS more options and effects to play with. It depends what you want. Portability? Versatility? More Choice? For me, BIAS FX suits me perfect in my home studio. I sold $5000 of gear in exchange for BIAS FX, and I'm actually more stoked with BIAS FX than I was my "real" rig. I rate it 👍
Bias FX2 is better soundvice on the computer than katana, with that exceptions if you mic the katana, then you will get the sound we all know katana for. But using the line out thing from katana to interface you have to temper with the global EQ to make it sound good. Where is that settings, I do not know. I was choked the first time I plugged katana into computer. So I did not like the modeling sound on the computer. Its was very different from katana speaker itself, really sounded digital. I will go for the mic as recommended by other when I was saying even bias fx sound better and more naturell on the computer when using the line in. With Bias fx you can basically just plug and play. You have 50 boss effects in katana, but can only use 4 at time. I would recommend 100w instead of 50w, because you have more connections inputs on the 100w. Try out the bias fx2 demo and try it out
@@DarrylSyms You're right. I see them now. I tried to repeat what I searched for before and could reproduce it only once, searching exactly for "Darryl Syms". Please elaborate on why you think BIAS FX sounds better? I feel like you’ve given up before even giving it much of a chance? I found it so easy to get good tones. Perhaps it’s the glitches that are putting you off more. I can’t relate with the glitches, but I’m sure that if you report this to Positive Grid then they will fix the issues for you. Also, you are not wasting any money, since they do offer a 30 day refund policy.

Thanks for the review. I just ordered their Spark amp. I assume it comes with software, but not sure which. Can anyone recommend which additional Positive Grid software I should buy? My preferred style of music is indie and rock with explorative tones (Radiohead, Mars Volta, Queens of The Stoneage, NIN, Kurt Vile, etc). I’d like to only spend around $100. Any recommendations on what pack would work best for my preferred music tastes? And will this software work with GarageBand? Sorry for so many questions, I see no information on the Positive Grid website. Surprisingly they didn’t even mention what software comes with the amp when I ordered it. Thanks for any help.
No software comes with the amp - hence why they didn’t mention any 😛 You can download the spark app on your phone, that is all. Not sure where you got the software idea from? It’s just an amp?
Hi Darryl, what do you think is Bias Fx 2 worth the price as a plugin for Garage Band? I am still waiting for my Positive Grid Spark Amp which should have the effects included.
@@DarrylSyms thanks Darryl, I think will first wait for my ordered PG Spark that includes many of these effects and amps. The performance of FX2 is not that good on my IMac 5k even with 24 GB RAM and Garage Band ist running great.
I don’t believe that? It sounds like you’ve got some dodgy configuration, or your iMac is running heaps of malware if you can’t run BFX2 well. Your iMac sounds significantly more powerful than my MacBook Pro, and my MacBook Pro runs this plugin, video editing software, audio editing software, 50 internet tabs, plus video streaming all at the same time 😂 This plugin is so lightweight, you could run it on a Nokia X10 😝 Anyhow, the spark, BFX2, enjoy 😄
@@DarrylSyms It's an IMac 5k Late 2015. But I have just tried the test Version of the stand alone Bias FX2 and not the plugin. Besides that I have a Line 6 Spider V 120 and since I am a bass player first and foremost I am playing a TC top and looking forward to the Spark as a rehearsing amp also for Bass.
Darryl Syms Very nice playing there. Just discovered your channel, will sure check more out. I wonder what song is you playing in the video intro? Is there a tab for that very beautiful melody you playing? :)
Thanks man! It's just one of my own creations. There are no tabs just yet, but I may consider turning it into a "song" very soon and then creating some 🙂
It’s mono vs stereo. My interface has 2 inputs, hence 2 lines. Not that it matters because guitar gives a mono signal anyway and therefore only one of the lines is active 🙂

That’s no lick, that’s a riff from one of my songs 🙂 If you’re subscribed, you’ll see more of where that came from soon! 😋
@@DarrylSyms well it's amazing! I am after i heard this! When is the song coming out? I'm looking forward to hearing it! Hope you write some tabs for the song, i'll be learning this by ear today nevertheless.
There will be tabs - keep a lookout 🙂 Thank you Marko!
Nice playthrough.❤
Thanks 💛
Does this software work in combination with bias amp 2 and is there some hardware thing to run this on? Like the bias amp head?
Yep, very well in fact. I’m not so sure about Hardware - that’s a question you’ll have to ask them ✌️
@@DarrylSyms thanks man I just might. right now the Rack version of the bias amp looks quite interesting I'd just love to get some effects for that.
Hello Darryl. Would it be possible to show the stages of equipment set up as quite a few of us are unsure how this all goes together ? And sugestions of what usb interface and speakers to use ? Krk yamaha etc ? Thanks
Sure! I’ll make a video on this soon. What should I title it so that people like yourself don’t miss it? 😋
@@DarrylSyms thank you darryl for your quick reply ref a tittle ? something like how to connect home studio equipment to pc (and how to use it with amp sims and daws ) is it also possible to show how to use an external 1x12 speaker to play through while using ? amplitube 4 or other amp sims for us home users that want the ability to use amp sims and listne through a proper cab as we dont have the money or need to go out and buy all the amps we like the sound of ?

Whats your set up computer and Amp or just software and computer set up ?? You can get all that with just software ?! Hu whats the link ..
Thanks! Any insight on the MIDI implementation for integration with midi pedalboard?
I wouldn’t know unfortunately since I’ve never owned a midi board. Although I expect that it’ll be mega easy to figure out. Perhaps check their website for a guide?
Hi, we plan to implement MIDI in the update release on 4/9, thanks!
@@MikeLee-qx4mz great. The midi implementation was one of the things that I felt lacking from the original Bias FX , .. looking forward to trying out the April version. Thanks
@@AndresBurgoa The FX1 do also have midi.
Good stuff! Did you use the bias amp or the pedals or is it purely just the bias fx?
It’s just BFX2
Well this is kind of an older video I don't know the chances of you actually replying but what would you recommend to get the November rain slash sound? November rain solo is kind of a unique sound.
Thanks!
You mean the gain knob of the guitar input? It’s on zero, because you should be using the ‘inst’ toggle, not ‘line’ 😋
@@DarrylSyms thank you!! I can't tell you how long I've been doing it the wrong way 😭🤦♂️😂
It happens 😂😃
Great vid any latency issue's
Nope, latency is never a program issue, but rather an issue with how you set it up with your hardware
Thank you for your response.I was going to purchase a Positive Grid Spark Amp but a little out of my price range
Get BFX2 if that’s within - it’s great value 🙂
I checked for that is it software or amp
Software/Plugin
Damn your setup looks clean!
That’s Eddie, I’m glad someone noticed my efforts 😄
@@DarrylSyms I only hope I can build one like that
I know this is a weird question but if I get a Behringer UMC22 and hook it up to my computer with the guitar plugged in. Can I use Bias FX to set a preset and play along with it in real-time, so it's kinda like a fancy amp because I really want to have different tones but I can't afford different pedals and stuff.
Darryl I'm sorry but i'm really going to have to cover that song! That was gorgeous!
Don’t be sorry 😂 I’m honoured - please tag me so I can watch! Would be great if you could post it and tag me on Instagram 😄
@@DarrylSyms Will do mate! Btw fuck that thumb stretch! #smallhandproblems
Outstanding playing, dude
How do you plug your guitar to your pc ? It sounds really clean
Btw, as always thankyou for clear and good explanation brooo!
Just via an audio interface 🙂 Thanks!
@@raddydydy thankyou so much man, can you give me reference for a good audio mixer/interface?
I use the Scarlett 2i2, but the solo is great 🙂
Think I would go for 2i2 over solo. Just see the comparison between them
@@DarrylSyms Hi Darryl.
It’s best you read their site and see what the differences are: bit.ly/2Ndo4zA
Personally I would opt for the standard version because I’m not really a man of many effects. However, if you want alllll the toys to play with and all the tones, then consider a higher package. Note that you may not be able to download other tonecloud presets that have elite tools of you are on a lower package
Great demo !!
Please help
How would I go about creating the sound of your guitar Australian dream with a axe fx 2
Ooh yeah good luck with that, I’ve no idea 😋
Great info!! Ty!!
For the same budget I can buy Bias FX 2 or Boss Katana 50, what do you recommend sound quality wise?
Try out the bias fx2 demo and try it out
beautiful playing my friend, considering buying this for my little macbook 12 inch
Thanks man!
There is only one preset from you now in the Tonecloud: YT Little Wing Intro. What happened? I sure would like to use them. BTW, I love your playing.
Nope, I have 6. Just checked. The YT little Wing isn’t mine. Just type ‘Darryl Syms’ in the tonecloud 👍
@@DarrylSyms You're right. I see them now. I tried to repeat what I searched for before and could reproduce it only once, searching exactly for "Darryl Syms". The LIttle Wing preset description says "If I remember rightly
this started life as the Darryl Syms patch and I made some tweaks for my setup. Thanks Darryl!" That's why it matched. Anyway all is well.
Thanks for the incredible presets! Using them while I noodle my way through your Udemy course. Cheers

@@DarrylSyms Hey man! Thank you. I really appreciate it, but I missed the cut-off. ha, I picked it up Oct 22.
I hover in that space of being a guitarist, but not really a musician if that makes any sense. I would love to look at the neck and have a ton of different "options" or routes to take when writing. Would you recommend your CAGED course, or the Essentials first? Thanks again!
Matthew 100% absolutely sounds like my CAGED masterclass will be your new best friend for now! 🙌🙂 Hope to see you there!
which one you will suggest to buy a standard / professional / elite
Whichever is most affordable for you. Don’t stretch your budget if you don’t want to 🙂
Please elaborate on why you think BIAS FX sounds better? I feel like you’ve given up before even giving it much of a chance? I found it so easy to get good tones.
Perhaps it’s the glitches that are putting you off more. I can’t relate with the glitches, but I’m sure that if you report this to Positive Grid then they will fix the issues for you. Also, you are not wasting any money, since they do offer a 30 day refund policy.
suchdoge - if you would like your issues resolved, please get in touch with me on facebook so that I can put you in touch with someone who can help the glitching. EDIT: Since you've not gotten in touch with me, I'll just assume you're trolling....
Nice review! Subscribed!
It’s just an amp?
impressive. good job
Will the type of guitar I use matter if I'm using Bias fx? Eg. humbucker, single coil, sustaniac etc.
Not at all. Obviously every guitar will sound different though, as with any "gear"
Hi Darryl, what do you think is Bias Fx 2 worth the price as a plugin for Garage Band? I am still waiting for my Positive Grid Spark Amp which should have the effects included.
It’s good value, I use it all the time and have done for years 👍
@@DarrylSyms thanks Darryl, I think will first wait for my ordered PG Spark that includes many of these effects and amps.
You should certainly be able to run BFX2 on that mate. Sounds like you need to do some cleaning on your Mac or something 🙂
what would be the difference between pro and elite. im thinking of buying pro but not 100% on what elite offers extra.
Darryl Syms Very nice playing there. Just discovered your channel, will sure check more out. I wonder what song is you playing in the video intro? Is there a tab for that very beautiful melody you playing? :)
Thanks man! It's just one of my own creations. There are no tabs just yet, but I may consider turning it into a "song" very soon and then creating some 🙂
Hey Darryl why does your input meter have 2 lines showing up mine only has 1? thanks
It’s mono vs stereo. My interface has 2 inputs, hence 2 lines. Not that it matters because guitar gives a mono signal anyway and therefore only one of the lines is active 🙂
I cant decide between Pro and Elite! it would be good to know exactly what amps are in the Elite but not in the pro
Good question! Shoot Positive Grid a message and ask them. Feel free to let us know here, as this is a very good question!
Think its the same number amps, but you miss out on the celestion deal, but stil have the IR loader/manager. You could do without, but annoying when trying a cab in tone cloud, and the creator had one of the celestion.
Everything in BIAS AMP 2 Professional plus 15 officially-licensed custom Celestion speaker cabinets, including in Elite:
Celestion Vintage 30
Celestion Blue
Celestion G12H Anniversary
Celestion G12-65
Celestion G12M Greenback
www.positivegrid.com/bias-amp-compare/
@@xPowerShotx not even close. The pro has 6 guitars 60 amps. The elite has 18 guitars 100 amps
They both have the celestion speakers.
@@MrGlasstech On the compare page posted above, it says that pro comes with the classic celesetion pack, and not the modern pack. And the pro does not include any of the celestion pack. You need to get does later with additional purchase on the pro. Just look at this compare page on Positive grid page.

@@xPowerShotx whoops your right on the pro its the cab selection with different speakers. Which is good enough for me. I just bought the program less then a week ago. sorry
what kind of speakers do u have or recommend, are they FFR speakers ?
I have a slight delay in the latency using focus bright - any advice on how to tighten that up?
Not heard of a focus bright before, but change your Buffer I/O to a power sample rate
Darryl just subscribed to your channel and website :). Most probably get your melodic course. I wanted to ask I already have Bias fx and Amp elite. I just watched your Tonehub video. I like it a lot compared to Bias now. What do you recommend. It's on sale now. But I also see it a rabbit hole as buying packs would be expensive. But tone and depth-wise, do you recommend. Please let me know. Cheers
Thanks man! 😄🙌 Honestly I’m not sure what to recommend. Both have their pros, cons, and limitations. I use BFX2 and have done for a long time now. It’s by far my “ideal” or “perfect” sound, but it does the job for now 💁♂️🙂
@@DarrylSyms Thanks mate. Do you still find yourself using Tonehub here and there? As you are a master of your craft, can I also ask why people don't like it as oppose to Neural and some other stuff. I downloaded the demo yesterday. I found it quite good. But on gearslutz people are rather very much skeptical stating it's kind of very weak. May be it was earlier version. I need to know your last verdict please and I will decide today. What do YOU find it lacking in etc?

I just set up my LTD EC-1000 through a Focusrite Scarlette Solo with Bias FX 2. Using Audio Technica ATH M40x headphones. Can't get any clean tones...they are all a little distorted/crunchy. Any idea what the problem could be?
Too much gain on the focusrite? If you’re plugged into the focusrite with a standard guitar cable, the gain knob should be on zero
@@DarrylSyms I fixed my issue by changing ging the battery for my pickups. But if I were to turn again to zero...there would be no volume.
hallo, thank you for your great tutorial. can you help me. I have bias fx 2. My Input volume shows, that the Input is only on one channel, thank you for helping
Check our your input settings on BIAS FX and change your input channel to the channel on your AI. You’re probably using output 1&2, when you should only use 1

@@DarrylSyms ha! Amazing. Another thing you’ve played very well sir! I will be checking it out
Can you use your phone or IPad to control the Bias fx2 on your computer from across the room ? I’m lazy I like to play in my armchair! Don’t like to get up to mess with knobs!
Nope, but you can download BFX2 directly on your iPad as an app 👌
So would you recommend this as an upgrade from say boss katana to that one with good monitors and interface?
It depends what you want. Portability? Versatility? More Choice? For me, BIAS FX suits me perfect in my home studio. I changed from a $5000 rig to BIAS FX, and I'm actually more stoked with BIAS FX than I was my "real" rig. I rate it 👍
thats really nice great reply man. no i cant have my amp anymore because its to big sadly and i never go to my room to play either way anymore. So a setup at my pc where i play guitar through rocksmith would be more ideal. So it would be a sense more natural for me to sell katana go for monitors interface and BIAS FX. But if you use it and have changed from something like a 5k Rig then you changed my mind i am also going to. but ofc in my price range :P
Wise man, it sounds like your best choice 🙂
What did you use to cover the neck humbucker hole?
Black plastic
