Also for the sims 4, some CC creators you should check out for fantasy stuff: Lady Moriel (BG3 content, Tiefling tails) Pyxis (Fangs, skintones) Evoxyr (Pointed ears) Bellasims (Horns) Simbience (Anime style pointed ears, like Frieren's) courierseis (BG3 Tiefling horns) Strangegrapefruit (More horns, tails) lamatisse (Skintones)
The way I’m so indecisive I’d go broke in a HEARTBEAT commissioning artists to draw my ocs. But god I want to. I think this year I’m going to ✨ treat myself ✨ and commission someone to draw one of them. Now just to decide which one…
I love picrew, as a writer who has no skills in drawing, it's one of the few ways to bring my characters closer to a real person (aside from Sims 4, which is also amazing, but I am tired of dowloading 60GB of cc that would fit my chracter just to delete the right after)
Honestly this made me realise that dress up games or games that have it in some way, are really great options to visualise your character or even bring them in other worlds and how they may fit. The amount of time I spend in ff14 dressing my tiefling-sona for every occasion is emberassing.
You can totally use bg3 for this too. I mean its a literal dnd simulator and also has built in mod support that even my dumb ass can understand. Oh also for ts4 you dont even need to exit cas for photos, ill screenshot them using the different trait animations in cas, key out the background and add some random backdrop from the internet. Hell you can even mod in a backdrop or greenscreen into cas if you want to
Best thing for me is Hero Forge, even if you have no intention of buying them, you get a pretty good idea of what the mini might look like (the quality is dropped a bit during the printing, hence the more "cartoon" proportions) To make it look less "plastic-like" (like the image used by Gamer Girl in this video), change the proportions (under body and measurements) and alter the colours yourself. If you're still not happy, use the share button to get a quality screenshot, use a free background remover and then play about with free filters. If you just don't like Hero Forge, there's other similar apps, or use any of the great recommendations Gamer Girl has in this video
I draw my DnD characters and then play with them in the Sims 4 (if my DM won't give them a peaceful, happy ending then damnit I will), and the conversion is pretty spot on with how I picture them. Especially if you have mods to help get hella specific.
For what it's worth, I shoved my PCs and NPCs into Sims 3 and included ghost versions of my Ranger's dead parents. I'm the one who made them dead in her backstory, but they were both legitimately very nice people, so I wanted to let them be happy somewhere anyway...
I use modded Skyrim or FFXIV to make characters if I need to. Between the two you've basically got the whole dnd character spectrum covered unless you're something unusual like thri-keen or owlin.
This reminded me YET AGAIN that there is a whole world of Fantasy CC in The Sims 4 that I have yet to explore. And now that I started making my own recolors... maybe I should learn Blender and just freaking do it myself!!!
Any video game where you can customise your character appearance is a good shout. The Fromsoft games and Elder Scrolls have so e fun creators. Putting anything down is often better than nothing though. Be it a poorly hand drawn one you did yourself or one that's close enough you found online. But I would encourage people to take an hour here or there and practice the basic shapes and draw them yourself.
For what it's worth, I've had great success making D&D characters in Sims 3 without any mods. Though I was actually doing that because I thought it'd be neat to shove all my PCs and NPCs in a town together, not to make tokens...though I _am_ extremely proud of how my Orcs and Fire Genasi turned out. Significantly less proud of my "Dragonborn" who really are just appropriately colored humans with the appropriate personality traits amd hairstyles I felt were vaguely similar to their particular configuration of horns, frills, and barbels. There's even my truly, _truly cursed_ attempt at creating a Mindflayer that gives me a jumpscare everytime I see him wandering around... Edit: Oh, there's also the ghosts of a few dead parents of one of my PCs wandering around. Also it pretty wild to see a bunch of the pre-made sims standing around while a Drow, a Orc, and the a (sadly) hornless and tailless Tiefling are just existing in the same general area... Edit 2: I'm also very well respected on my D&D Discord server for my ability to make cool looking characters in HeroForge - including a couple that I don't even know what they are. (I got bored, fiddled around for a couple hours, and wound up with a couple eldritch horror looking entities that I've been informed are apparently hot.)
i don't play a tiefling! i play a Drow who's actually a good guy who didn't want to be involved with his corrupt society and ran away so he wouldn't have to be evil and he's a completely legitimate and original character
Problems with options 3 and 4: not having a computer that can run games. 🙃 (I only have a super old windows surface, so basically a tablet. I use actual consoles for gaming.)
Me watching this knowing full well I’m an artist and draw all my characters anyway 👁️👄👁️👍
Haha yep
LMAO same
Thank you for this! People saying they need AI for their characters because they can't draw is so depressing.
As someone who is the shit at drawing, I find it my ideas are too much for paper, so I immediately give up, this helps.
I got the life hack of having an artist in my d&d group
Same. Every campaign, we collab with them to create our tokens and they turn out so cute!
I actually started playing TS4 just to make my oc's and their house to have drawing references because I can't draw perspective to save my life.

I have been meaning to look for fantasy cc creators, thank you for the starting point

soul calibur is also a good avenue for customization (with 6 having the most options), especially when the series already leans into fantasy elements

"sometimes the closet door opens for you" I had to laugh so hard my cat got spooked. Other than taht sims4 is a banger suggestion.

All jokes aside, this is actully very good advice because people may not know about Dragon's Dogma or Picrew!
Hero Forge can be so annoying sometimes, so thx!!!!!

Finally the video we all need!!!
Drawing your characters sometimes also gets you new ideas about them sooo >>>

You forgot Skyrim for Tabaxi, Lizardfolk, High elf, wood elf, orc and others.
I use the sims 4 to create D&D characters and my human archfey warlock actually has the dress on at 2:56 as her main outfit.
This reminded me YET AGAIN that there is a whole world of Fantasy CC in The Sims 4 that I have yet to explore. And now that I started making my own recolors... maybe I should learn Blender and just freaking do it myself!!!
Brilliant video my French friend sent me!

If you want to get a really cartoony one, you can also use gacha
Ah just call me out for using HeroForge.
I'm good at heroforge, they look much better when you completely change everything about them
I'm so happy this channel hates AI like I do ❤❤❤
omg thank you!
I would love to see you play Baldur's Gate 3 🥺❤️

Can you please link the picrews shown in the video?

A free Dragon's Dogma character creator on Steam? I had better delete some bad mod maps from Killing Floor to make room
man not the heroforge shade 🥺

🪄⋆。 °✩Vicious Mockery °✩⋆。
but naw fr tho these are great suggestions! ty
Coming here to volunteer my services so I can beef up my portfolio lol. I’m on most platforms as either fancyflautist or fancykayemedia
❤
Shame my character is a Tabaxiborn (Tabaxi Dragonborn hybrid) so it makes this really hard beyond Heroforge
Yea I just get on my hands and knees and beg my Leonardo da Vinci equivalent artist friend for art pieces…
Or I buy them lunch that works too.
So real
Currently laughing my way through the video.
ive made all of my dnd characters in the s*ms 4 because i Cannot Draw lol
