"Into the steaming hot water, boys! This lake isn't gonna salt itself!" Holy shit, the first time I watched this episode, that line had me laughing my ass off for about 15 minutes.
twist aside, i've started to find this movie really fascinating. think about it. it's about a boy who is forced to be female to appease his abusive and mentally unstable aunt, only shortly after he was traumatized watching his sister and father killed by a boating accident. Not only that, he was further affected seeing his father sleep with another man (which makes him sexually confused and unstable as heterosexual boys display attraction to him, believing he's female.) Then years later, the boy is pursued other boys' and older mens' unwanted sexual attention as well as unwanted attention from girls who bully him relentlessly for being weird and getting male attention, until he ends up murdering them. It's a combination of misogyny, sexuality, gender dysphoria, and peer abuse that causes Angela/Peter to become a slasher villain, but you completely understand and can even sympathize his reason for doing so.
Don't forget the constant awkward staring at Judy is because he's attracted to her and making Peter's peter hard (or would it be Angela's angela........ Angela's peter? Yep, Angela's peter, it even has a double meaning)
@Not Applicable A shockingly respectful comment and apt analysis. The youtube comments section is often terrifying to scroll down, especially when the complex issues of sexuality and gender identity are concerned, but I found an intelligent and thoughtful comment on a Brad Jones video. Thank you for adding good thoughts to a standing pool of awful ones?
I was not a fan of horror/exploitation films until I started watching the Cinema Snob. Now I sit around all day making sarcastic remarks to strangers about the latest lucio Fulci movie I stumbled across. Thank you Brad Jones!
HAISPAM Whaaaaaa....Thats really cool man. I do not live in the states so no wonder I did not get that reference. I just thought it was a random joke at how far the husband went to get away from that woman. And honestly I cannot blame him.
To be fair, the end shot was done by a college student wearing a facecast of Felissa Rose, the actress who played Angela the rest of the movie, so it wasn't pre-teen dick. Most of the actors in this movie were much closer to the actual age of their characters than most teen movies nowadays (Felissa Rose was 13 and Jonathan Tiersten, Ricky's actor, was 17 but looks much younger in my opinion).
It's not that frozen, unhinged stare complete with a wide-open mouth, it's not those unearthly, feral snarls, it's not the fact that "she" has a penis... It's the fact that we're looking at someone who went through so much traumatizing shit that eventually made him\her snap and go on a killing spree. Between: witnessing his sister and father dying a sudden, heinous death, being raised by a lunatic who repressed his sexuality and forced him to live as not just any girl, his very deceased sister, having witnessed a man making out with another man, being bullied by a bunch of chickenshits and bitches complete with a creep trying to bang him\her and attracting a boy who clearly can't have a clue about what "she" really is, do you think Peter wouldn't have snapped any time soon?!
Yes, between a pedocook, a worthless camp director and the worst kind of teens in earth, yes, it would've been a crapshoot camp even without a slayer on the loose.
Y'know, it's not really the guys fault. His aunt forced him to become a woman, repressing him sexually for many years before so many painful memories kept flooding back in only a few days. Sure, they killed people, but if you wanna blame anyone for the murders, blame that screwed up aunt.
yeah the aunt is the real bad guy. i mean look what she did to this kid. though i wonder why his cousin never did anything? probably just as messed up as angela was. oh boy.

Ah yes, one of my favorite Cinema Snob reviews! The movie itself is kinda stupid but pretty enjoyable and the Snob's reaction to the twist at the end is a classic!
It never ceases to amaze me how Snob's critique style has evolved over the years. Now he doesn't even pretend at being a snob. He reviews the movies as himself.
The movie is really cheesy and schlocky, but I remember that last shot of Angela's crazy face legitimately creeping me out the first time I saw this movie. It's just a wonderfully disturbing shot. Love it.
Just watched Sleepaway Camp for the first time. I saw this review when it first aired, so, unfortunately, I already knew the twist ending. But that didn't make it any less creepy. Seriously, my skin was crawling.
yes a hairy nude teenage girl sporting a boner, truely the worst nightmare hell has to offer lol i would suggest you don't go on a porn site under the futa/shemale tags lol
Oh my God! The Cinema Snob remembered this terrible movie and made a review of it! I thank "Robot Chicken" for initially informing me of this movie's existence
Totally agree. That face for some reason really freaked me and a friend out when we first watched this when we were both 21. I always have a random liking to this movie for freaking me out.
You gotta respect Ricky though; feisty little bastard will challenge a whole group of kids, all bigger than him, just to stick up for his cousin. He don't give a shit. Yet he only does it to stick up for Angela and not for himself; when it's just him, he cusses them out, but doesn't get violent. Mad props, because I don't think I was that ballsy at his age.
I just watched the documentary about this movie & it's hilarious that the actress who plays Angela's aunt did not want to play this character because of how "slanted" (in her words) her lines were meant to be delivered, the director pretty much told her she was gonna be in this movie if he had to mime her lines for her lmao
1:53 for those curious, Sleepaway Camp was put out by UFDC (United Film Distribution Company), the same company that put out George Romero's Dawn of The Dead and Day of The Dead.
I love this movie! It's a great "deadly summer camp" movie. I love that "everyone got what they deserved". Especially the pervy, pedophile cook, Judy and Meg.
my god that face scares the shit out of me, credits to the actress who played Angela, moreover I don't want to know what the director did to get her to make said face.
Hiltzik (the movie's director) modeled a mask of Felissa Rose (Angela's actress) and made it wear to a guy who had to stand nude with his cock in full view at night...
Not mentioned in this review: one of the chefs in this film is played by James Earl Jones’ father Robert. He also played a custodian in the Peter Weir film Witness
The "Jersey Shore babies" line is extra hilarious given that the little boy at the beginning is the brother of Mike "The Situation" from Jersey Shore. (I haven't watched the whole video yet, sorry if he points that out in video).
Omg one of my favorite snob reviews! Thanks for re uploading Brad :D your reviews are the reason sleepaway camp became my favorite B rated slasher film!
Another observation worth noting: Paul leaves Angela to be bullied by Judy one time, and Meg another time. Maybe that's why she/he ends up decapitating him?
Ah yes, the episode that got me into the series. I legit do remember being confused at first since I was looking for someone else but possibly that led me to the greatest internet heroes of my life.
This movie was the biggest fucking eye-roll all the way through, and then in the last few minutes it gets you with one of the best twists out there. It's probably the only reason we still talk about this movie.
This is probably the most quotable episode ever. "That's a dick" and "Fuck me, he's a diddler!" Are two personal favorites of mine.
"Into the steaming hot water, boys! This lake isn't gonna salt itself!"
Holy shit, the first time I watched this episode, that line had me laughing my ass off for about 15 minutes.
“Jersey shore babies? Something needs to happen to them”
that ending is kinda legitimately terrifying
Dalton Swayze Yeah, I think it's the Wierd off model mask and creepy noises he/she makes.

The aunt would be applauded today on social media.
The most terrifying part about that ending is the look on Angela's face.
Yes. That face at the end is the look of insanity itself.
It’s so uncanny in a way
It’s actually a mold of Felissa Rose’s face. That’s why it’s so uncanny.

I’m the Ricky to someone in my friend group. With how Ricky is loose with his tongue, captain haddock definitely was his grandfather.
I just realized the aunt sounds like the Balloon land lady who kept getting way to excited over the balloons at the parade
