I have to give props on this episode. Funny while analysing why the Producer's cut is far superior: Better editing, answers most questions and actually gives the characters more scenes that show off development/depth, something very well needed in movies as well as horror films. Changing the film for ungrateful 14 year olds was a huge mistake and the movie should have stayed as it was, even if longer. It's not like 6 is canon to the continuity anymore. H20 and Resurrection went ahead and ignored the stupid cult aspect. As far as I'm concerned, Michael is not some guy listening to some voice in his head telling him to kill people. To me, Michael kills because he wants to and like Loomis said in the original film, he isn't human. That's how he survived getting shot in the first two films, he's not a man. Michael was never intended to have an origin in the first place. To me, Michael's "origin" counts as canon as much as Jason's heart curse or Freddy's dream demons.
I always saw it as his desire to kill was so strong he could withstand anything, you know except a decapitation, which is why I'll own 1, 2, H20 and be done with it.
If you watch the pilot episode of the Freddy's Nightmares TV series they actually give a better explanation for the origins of freddy's powers which makes the dream demons from pt 6 actually make sense.
Richard Brooker stated in an interview that when he asked for a motivation for Jason in Friday The 13th 3 he was more or less told "jason is a human version of jaws, he kills because it's all he knows how to do, it's his natural instinct". To a degree you could certainly apply that motivation to Michael Meyers too.

Anyone else get a Batman v Superman Ultimate Cut vibe from this? You know, where the original movie wasn't the greatest thing ever but it was still pretty solid and had plenty of good parts to it and yet the studio gets greedy and cuts enough stuff out of the movie to where the editing is horrible and huge plot points and character moments are completely removed for the theatrical cut?
Kevin Strom I don't disagree that they needed to have a lot more actual conflict between Batman and Superman or even Clark and Bruce, but I still think the Ultimate Cut is a solid movie with a lot of good stuff in it.
+Alexander Sigstad you know what? That's a fair statement. I have the steelbook of it and its a pretty decent movie. I guess I just get mad when I think of the potential that movie had...I mean EVERYONE wanted this movie too be amazing, not just pretty good. but when you're right, you're right. and you sir are right. Happy Halloween man.
Kevin Strom Why thank you, and don't worry, I COMPLETELY understand the anger and disappointment at this movie. I think the difference is my rage is directed more at WB than the movie itself, as I have no doubt that the studio was the one who demanded that this movie squeeze so much into itself to try and catch up to Marvel, thus there was less time devoted to Batman and Superman's conflict and more focus on setting up the DCEU. I know for certain they are the ones to blame for the 30 minutes that were cut of the theatrical release, as the Ultimate Edition was the version the movie's directer wanted to release in theaters but WB wanted to maximize the number of screenings that the movie could have per day. I'm not saying the Ultimate Cut is perfect by any means, but if it had been the one released to theaters, it'd still be a bit disappointing but I think a lot less people would be calling it an outright bad movie. So I guess I just blame the studio a lot more than I do the movie or the people who worked on it, especially after reading about the re-writes and re-shoots ordered to be done to Suicide Squad after BvS didn't do as good as they'd wanted. Hopefully Wonder Woman and Justice League don't suffer from as much studio interference.
Wow, it looks so much better than the UA-cam one from a few years ago. Sound and picture quality for the additional scenes is on par with the rest of the movie, instead of looking so grainy from the negatives.
have test audiences ever actually improved a movie? that's not sarcasm; I am genuinely curious. I only ever hear them mentioned on movies that were ruined by them.
DurdenDevotee When Pixar was trying to get Toy story made they show the test footage to both Disney and their family and friends. Each group told them that Wood was so unlikable. So they rewrote the script and Woody into what we know today.
Apparently the original version of the Mortal Kombat movie sucked and test audiences fixed it by extending the Johnny Cage and Scorpion fight. Giving Kano a bionic eye and upgrading him to a minor antagonist when he was a glorified cameo in the original cut
I have to admit, I was totally expecting you to wait until next year to cover this version of the film. And as strange as it may sound, I would've been fine with that.
Happy Halloween Brad Jones and Friends!!! Vash Starwind here is a HUGE fan!!! I'm pretty sure that I've been a huge fan of yours for about 7 years...... Has it been 7 years. .. wow. Anyways, you've been hilarious from the get-go and I'll always be such a huge fan of yours
So it's a semi-respectable movie, it still kinda goes nowhere since it set up another sequel that would've accomplished what was already accomplished in the other sequels.
Two things to note about this film: 1. One draft of the screenplay said that Dr. Wynn was the one who wanted Jamie's baby. His monologue in the Producer's Cut even hints at it. And 2. If you go frame by frame of the strobing, flash edit, you'll notice two particular shots: First is, unsurprisingly, Michael holding a knife, but the second shot shows Jamie in a hospital. Supposedly, that's from a deleted scene that didn't make EITHER cut of the film.
Well for me it's like this: - Halloween - Halloween 2018 - Halloween II - Halloween Kills - Halloween: Resurrection - Halloween: H20 - Halloween III: SoTW - Rob Zombie's Halloween - Halloween 4: The Return of MM - Halloween 5: The Revenge of MM - Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 - Halloween 6 or 666 or whatever the f**k it is both versions are still godawful films.

@@Gideon13397It does, but they had completely dug themselves into a hole by this point in the series. I think the Producers Cut is a bad movie, but I admire them for sticking to their guns and going all in on the Cult of Thorn nonsense. It makes it a enjoyable mess, even though it completely kills the credibility and scariness of Micheal Myers, basically making him a side-kick to the Man in Black. The Theatrical Cut tries to back out of the game when it’s far too late, and this cowardly execution, combined with the rubbish score, horrendous editing and awful continuity errors, makes for a practically unwatchable experience. All it has going for it is the brutal kills, and the hallway chase in the reshot ending before that awful climax in the weird laboratory. It sucks. The Producers Cut also sucks, but in a fun way.

You know, where the original movie wasn't the greatest thing ever but it was still pretty solid and had plenty of good parts to it and yet the studio gets greedy and cuts enough stuff out of the movie to where the editing is horrible and huge plot points and character moments are completely removed for the theatrical cut?
no, both cuts of that were terrible. any movie called batman vs superman that only has 8 minutes of batman vs superman in it clearly misses the point.
+Alexander Sigstad I 100% agree with everything you just said.
Wow, it looks so much better than the UA-cam one from a few years ago. Sound and picture quality for the additional scenes is on par with the rest of the movie, instead of looking so grainy from the negatives.
Newer and actual release, that's why.
Yeah, I saw this on UA-cam, and the additional scenes were taken from the original negative print of the movie.
Yeah I believe they released it on Bluray fairly recently. The original footage is.... grainy to say the least.

This channel needs more Bat Hero
PHELOUS ALREADY REVIEWED THIS!
(just kidding brad i love you)
20:29 popped into my head rewatching Halloween 6 this month and thank you for that, Snob.
I'm glad they didn't call it Halloween 666. It would just create a whole lot of confusion when it comes to the sequel to the 665th Halloween film.
Can't wait for Halloween 665
Is that Ben Tramer memorial still happening?
Paul Rudd looks uncomfortable in every role he's in.
DJDEFSTROKE I kinda liked Ant-Man.
Trevor Hensley same. He's a good dad character
60% of the time he looks uncomfortable every time.
In Ant-man, it makes sense that he'd be uncomfortable.
After all, he is seen working at Baskin Robins, and they know EVERYTHING.
ajmrowland Can confirm. They're always asking me for blood samples every time I go get breakfast.
why TF did Hollywood listen to kids??
Ugh... thanks for reminding me that Vase de Noces exists, Snob. Now I'm not going to be eating pork anytime soon.
Also RIP Bat Hero
I guess this came out in better quality in between this review and Phelous' review
It's been officially released and remastered since phelous reviewed it
It’s on blue ray now
Paul Rudd gave the baby the name Stephen. That's why it wasn't in the credits
So why does Bat Hero sound like Phelous?
because it is
JDelwynn Brad does a good Phelous Bat Hero impression
JDelwynn pi think it's brian
Happy Halloween Snob!
PRECIOUS RUNES.
The shot of Loomis putting on his jacket and grabbing his gun like fucking Gandalf picking up his staff was worth the whole Producer’s Cut.
Good job on this one too! Made me laugh and I needed that today. Thank you
Brad's screams at the end were hilarious.
Happy Halloween, Vincent Dawn. Here's to some Bat Hero shenanigans.
With that thorn in in the title screen, technically the film would be pronounced Hthlloween 6
have test audiences ever actually improved a movie? that's not sarcasm; I am genuinely curious.
WOW Snob, that was an incredible review. Epic way to end the Halloween season.
This film might be one of the best examples I can think of how important editing is, and how good editing and pacing can completely change a film.
That ending joke was freaking hilarious🤣🤣🤣
yes!!!!
Ant-Man as a serial killer would definitely improve the current run of the MCU.
Thank you!! Big fan!
Biff Tannen + Donald Trump + John Goodman = John Strode
03bgood Damn that's a perfect description
Splash of Ryan O’Neil.
So it's a semi-respectable movie, it still kinda goes nowhere since it set up another sequel that would've accomplished what was already accomplished in the other sequels.
After Brad runs out of Halloween films, he will start reviewing a Halloweenie episode each October.
Great review as always, Brad!
Nothing better than a Crystal Pepsi cameo! :D
Supposedly, that's from a deleted scene that didn't make EITHER cut of the film.
another powerful cinema snob review ladies and gentlemen! This one is definitely Llyod approved!
Why is Danny getting orders from Johnny Cash?!
I was hoping you'd do this. Thanks!!!

I love you, Brad. Er, I mean, I love your Cinema Snob videos :) But you know what I'd really like you to know? I can watch ANY Snob video, ANY time, and be distracted from reality, drawn into the highly amusing world of a man who watches the most appalling and/or obscure films ever made, and be truly happy for a little while.
You've had hard times in your past, as your video last year made clear, but that's the one thing I'd want you to know: at least one person, probably many, _also in_ such hard times, considers you a small but wonderful gift. Thank you very much. No reply necessary :)
That was an excellent movie review. I greatly enjoyed watching both versions of this movie despite all of the pedantic details and its meager mistakes.
4:55 When she said, "You jerks know the rules." She sounded like a stereotypical '90s teenager.
Cringe-worthy moment.
@@TREBONIANVS It makes sense as a lullaby for her kid though
Prunes gave Michael the runes.
I'm glad we won't have to wait 20 years for a review of Halloween: H20. Just 1 year. Yeah, with the colossal fuck-up that was Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, I can see why they decided to just retcon 4-6 and reboot the series.
So when I finally get around to marathoning these movies, I should watch the producers cut? Good to know.
yes
Sweet, I KNEW Bat Hero wasn't really dead!
This is the only Halloween 6 in my eyes.... like snob said "It's actually a movie"
I like that the titular origin of Michael Myers is rooted in actual Druidic mythology and tradition, it's a fun detail
Except that ruins the entire point of the character Michael Myers.
I laughed WAAY harder at the Bat Hero joke then I should have. Man Phalous is great.
Good to see a poster for Halloween 3 behind - the thinking man's Halloween movie.
