Aputure sent a 60D and 60X to me for review. The content of this video and my opinions were not reviewed or paid for by Aputure or anyone else. - Фільми й анімація
Aputure is FINALLY stepping into the budget market, and we all win as creators as a result.
Like, honestly, it's a REALLY good time to be a creator nowadays. Very good, inexpensive options for hardware and software all around!
They've always been budget! Just there £500 lights are equivalent to £2k+ lights back in the day. Now their £170 light is similar to their £500 light etc.
@@jambononi this is a very true point!
Indeed! Anyone remember when Home Depot work lights were the only option? I don't miss those hot lights!
@@dslrvideoshooter I remember using some super hot 2700K construction lights back in the day. I don't miss tripping breakers in the middle of a shoot.
@@dslrvideoshooter FRFR. I DO remember that LOL
Soooo glad to see major brands delving into this low price range space, and with actually good product offerings too!
We're SUUUUPER spoiled LOLZ
That softbox setup was the equivalent of mounting the lens to the tripod instead of the camera.
Yep, I have the Sony 200-600 f5.6-6.3 on an A7Siii, the tripod mount is on the lens not the camera.
Haha! Yes! I should have used that analogy.
Is that a good or bad thing
@@WildWill318It's more so an observation.
Depending on your situation it varies, so not really good or bad, just a method of doing it. (Consider what you need, and if it's inconvenient or useful)
Man, I love your reviews Caleb. Such a depth of experience mixed with no-nonsense, no-hype cold, hard facts. So useful!
When I just started my channel I was using LED pannels, which I later upgraded to a single Godox SL60W + large softbox. I was planning to upgrade to Aputure 120D at some point, but realized I have absolutely no need for that, since I barelly use 70% my 60W Godox. Looking at these... If I was starting out - I may prefer them due to the super compact size, however, I do love metal construction on my Godox. Anyway, awesome addition for us, beginners :)
Caleb, LOVE that you're doing more clear disclaimers at the beginning of your product reviews. This has been something I've enjoyed from Gerald for years and I'm so happy to see other great creators taking these sorts of disclaimers seriously, as well. It helps us as viewers of your channel and as potential buyers of these products to know how you got to test the products and how much editorial review the companies have.
As a long time fan, thank you so much and keep up the great work!
Still so biased. Doesn’t it feel like a commercial to you? The fact that he’s doing such positive reviews is in return securing him these requests of manufacturers, that are indeed jobs, since he’s earning through views
Wow, that mounting solution for the large softbox just made me realize I have an old tiny 40w light this trick will also work with.
Aputure has chosen a really smart development path. Give broke filmmakers great starter lights, with pro features, then offer pro versions that are more expensive but built like tanks.
I see it as they target UA-camrs with tight budget
No if the fan and outside was harder. IT would be the best
Been waiting for your review since the day it came out!
Thank you for this excellent video, I've been eagerly looking forward to your review & comparison of these lights! They both look incredible for the price, I'm excited to try them out!
I wish you would be able to have the time to post even more videos.
I'm a huge camera and computer nerd. But i really have to say, that YOUR videos are really the best in terms of quality and load of information.
I wish i could watch new videos everyday.
greetings from Germany :)
That means so much to hear from you Daniel! I wish I could upload more too!
Quality Review! Helps me a lot on understanding simple and efficient setups of lighting for indoor studio.
HA! Was just about to order the Amaran 100X and then got this video in the ending card of the 100D & X review. This smaller light will suite our needs even better .
Apart from the regular use with softboxes it can also add some great bouncing extra light to a scene where we’re usually filming. No modifyers, just splash it everywhere, and the size is of a camera… We’re getting one of each models, perfect. Thank you for all your great reviews!
Thanks for your review Caleb, as always!
Thanks Caleb. Thanks Aputure. I really hope Aputure figures out the budget RGBWW COB equivalent for max portable lighting flexibility - Godox, Hive, Prolycht paved the way already to show the RGB COB tech is here.
Love your videos: your info, lighting and tone of voice. Thank you!
been waiting for this review
such a great comprehensive review of the light
This is a great light, great review as always. Excited about the External Monitor showdown! Thanks Caleb
Hi, just had your very useful channel offered up. I like the style. In my price range as well! Small 'bite sized' pieces and straight to the point. No faff. Have yet to work my way through the offerings but liked and subscribed just on what I've seen so far. Looks like you've been in the art for quite some time, impressive collection behind you. Thanks, and have a good Christmas. Bob.
Epic value for the output. Easily going to be a staple in wedding kits or interviews.
With that size I could even see it being used as a practical in certain situations
Caleb looks like the cool uncle at Christmas time that always has the newest dope tech 🔥🔥
I've waited so much, finally aputure finally
Definitely worth the wait!!!
that Matthellini clamp? simply inspired! thank you for sharing...
So helpful, thank you!
Tons of reviews on YT, no one puts aperture values and in general exposure values, just saying "it's super bright!"
How could I evaluate the power of this light without any exposure values?
Thank God Caleb' reviews are thorough and super detailed. Pleasant to watch as well!
Huge thanks!
Wonderful stuff. What a great little light. So many applications I can think of!
Thanks! this answered exactly what i needed to know.
Very cool. Great review 👍
Thanks, Caleb. I learned lots. THANK YOU!
Impressed by your new lighting setup for you videos
Great review of what looks like a great little light. Thanks
Amazing! Thanks for the video!
Love your videos ! Thanks man 😃
Great content and the review is great! Thanks for sharing!
thanks this was super helpful picked up a light from your link :D
Amazing content, thank you
Just ordered a 60X because of this video! Thanks buddy!
Dude thanks for this review. I love my 200d and now I. I’ll buy this 60d cause of your review. That’s complete. Thx
Perfect timing as I’m looking for a light for my overhead rig……done!👍
Epic video, thanks for the christmas gift idea for my pops.
Awesome & Thanks :)
Bro you and my bro Tom Buck, and Manny are the best and my Favorite explainers 😜 I was determined to watch your take on these lights before I grabbed two! I have the Amaran’s 100x after switching from Hodox ML60s and now this 💪🏾💯
I am shocked that Aputure has put out a light like this but in a good way because I think it is smart of them and I dont won't hurt sales of the more expensive lights due to the different use cases of each light they offer being pretty clear. All around this is just a great thing for everyone. The one thing I have always been held back by with filming is a great bright light due to cost. Now I can buy a good bright entry level light to get started without breaking the bank and eventually if I start making money I can upgrade to a more robust light like the 120D later when needed. As always thanks for the awesome video showing why this light is great and also for explaining how it is not a bad move on Apurtures part. I have missed your videos!
I’d love to see these compared to other budget options namely the various brands of SL60w
And gvm80s
Yes please!

Exactly. This is the first thing I'm about to google to compare brightness
Fellow Filmmaker just did one, she's not a fan of the case with these ones
wow thank you for sharing this light. awesome.
Great review of a super interesting light. Packability is so underrated in the video world! I do feel you're a bit too harsh on the umbrella though, that first shot around 1:00 is perfectly usable.
I just ordered 2 from your link !! thanks for the valuable information !!
Cute light, love it!
Lovely set behind you
I like your channel, you really find some good gear!
Ordered a couple of the 200x to fill and hair. Looking forward to getting hold of them. Aputure continue to be amazing
oh crap...ppl using the godox sl60w will definitely hop over to here soo much great things coming this year glad to be living thanks for GREAT Vid~ cheers from Tokyo
Excellent presentation!
This is perfect for a live stream/video call setup
great video!
the light looks very compact very interesting thank you.
Having tried to find a light that would work well with an optical snoot, I really think this checks all the boxes!
Buying now!
Great review. Oddly enough these lights are cheaper and more color accurate than my truck's flood lights. Thanks for the info Caleb, might mount these on my car next time.
These are a must!
Mr. Rodger's Camera Studio lmao the red jacket
This gave me the piece of mind I needed buying the 60x’s 🙂
Super bro Good video Good Luck with your 🤗
I might have to pick a pair of these up!
Love the small form factor
Those are cool. Been looking at a small light to use at home and for smaller projects. Hate to lug around huge lights.
Awesome Review!
@DSLRVideoShooter? is this legit
@@og975 fake
@@cbcsurvivalguide i thought so!, thanks
I'm definitely getting this
Perfect thanks
Thank you, Caleb
Just an FYI when using the Sidus link app on the phone it does give a battery level estimate. And the function of being able to turn on or off the light from the app, really it turns off the light and puts it into sleep mode, it works wonderfully for conserving NPF battery life.
I know this is a lighting review.. but damn did i learn a lot about lighting also. Excellent vid!
Great video Caleb, it would be interesting to see a comparación between a bi color light and a 5600k light with gels just to see the difference in output
agreed. video would go from 9.5 stars to 10 with this!
cool again - thank you for sharing.
Insightful video as always and the 60d looks like a winner. One thing to note is it's probably better to go with the 100d if you need to have the large softbox. I just priced it at B&H and the 60d plus 6" Matthellini and Hollywood Head totals $269 with taxes. At $200 for the 100d, it's the more budget-friendly option.
I guess the idea was -- if you already had a big softbox and C-stand and claps, you can still use this light, which is powerful enough to fill in a large soft box
Not when you factor in battery power
Nice video 👌👌
This looks like an amazing deal
Crazy good value indeed.
I literally just got the 60d this week. Still waiting on a back ordered 18x18 soft box. It was a huge jump from a $70 led I was using. Thinking about 1 more of these and getting the 200d to round out my set up.
Great review! I just got the Amaran 200x and love it! I feel like these would complement it really well. I also have the nanlite 60b. I wonder how these compare...
Great and interesting review! Would you please be so kind to reveal the brand of the two tabletop tripods…? I’m looking for something like that as well… Have a wonderful 2022 and take care! Max
Да,свет действительно шикарен.
Был бы отличным дополнением к моему Aputure ls 120d ii
Спасибо за ваши обзоры
I love Aputure
super fantastic !!
Unbelievable for fly gigs … total game changer for me
Interesting product
That's an interesting looking thing.
Thanks!
What a steal!
I'm glad I waited to purchase lights.
Yeah these are bonkers!
@@dslrvideoshooter Thank you Caleb for being a pillar in the UA-cam filmmaking community. I’ve been following since day one ☝️
Thanks
That is amazing
I brought Beta SP equipment back in the 90s using the BMC Terranex to up convert to HD, the footage looks great.. so glad I invested because I'm making money from that old footage today
Still waiting on these to be in STOCK (N) Great video btw!
Very useful to see some hands on experience with these.
How much output would you get by putting a ¼, ½ or full cto on the 60d in comparison to the 60x? Is it worth getting the d and some gels over the versatility of the x?
following
Can’t wait for rgb version of this.
Good value for small studio set ups, but quite underpowered compared to the opposition when softboxes are used.
I'd recommend paying the extra for the godox VL lights.
Very helpful video Caleb! Comparison between 60x and Colbor CL60 would be quite interesting please. :)
Did you build yourself a virtual set? The background in this and the last video are just 🔥
It's amazing this video was posted 12/2021 and 2 months later, the price of Amaran 60D hiked up from $170 to $229 @ Amazon. A $59 price hike in just two months. lol
I just got mine in and mounted the soft box instead of the light! Thank you for saving me from myself 😂
Nice and interesting review… would you be so kind to reveal the make of the two small tripods you mounted the lights on…… have a great 2022 and take care.
