I'm the same way whenever I go hiking. I call myself a "slow hiker", because I stop and look at *everything*, and I find so much beauty and wonder in every tree, every log, every patch of moss or mushroom! I always wind up taking way too many photos, and end up deleting most of them. But it's such an enjoyable and peaceful hobby for me, and I'll never give it up. I find it hard to relate to people who hike just to go as fast as possible, or they just make a lot of noise and talk loudly the whole time and completely miss all the wonder and beauty around them.

I’m the same. My husband is one of those hike fast for the exercise people. We live close to a large nature center that has a program if you hike every trail you get a t shirt. My husband & children got t shirts a few years ago, I’m still working on it. I like to slowly walk the same trail over & over until I know it well before moving on and even then I still go back to revisit with the earlier ones. I may never get a t shirt & I’m ok with that.
I appreciate your comment, and the replies. I always stay in the back when we go hiking because I like to go at the speed of me not them. I carry my wildflower book always hoping to find ones I’ve never seen. My phone’s only purpose is to take pictures. No noise please. Last hike I noticed beside a tree, hikers (of all ages) had left little “offerings” in that spot. A feather, an acorn, a leaf, old dead wood, all sorts of treasures. I left a tiny piece of moss that was lying in the trail. Such a beautiful pause to have during a hike. I also feel sad for those who hurry by and miss beauty. 🥰🍄🥾🦉🍂🪺🏔💗
Me too! One of my favourite memories was hiking with some friends and, as usual, I had fallen behind - they told me that at one point they stopped to wait for me. One friend said "where's Gabrielle?" and the other responded, "She's like 2 flowers, 3 butterflies, and a caterpillar away." I have never felt more seen. 😊
To me that's the point of hiking! Imo im there to enjoy nature and really take it all in, if I wanted to partake in a race I'd join a local cross country team!

this channel has inspired me over the past 2 years. I started watching this channel when I was 16, and it always brought me peace and helped me feel less overwhelmed. it influenced me to invest my time in mindful activities and focus on living well in times I felt alone and disconnected during the pandemic. I decided after watching your channel that I needed to somehow find a way to put myself in a peaceful environment and enjoy activities mindfully and overall take care of myself. I started going over to my grandma's 2 times a week which is a decision I am glad I made. We would cook for hours, for our family members, her neighbors, and even the stray cats. I would drop the food off contactless at family members and neighbors, and I only ever spent time outside of my home with my grandma and grandpa. Outside their home is a garden she and my grandpa spent 10 years building by themselves that surrounds the property. In the morning, my grandma and I would garden together for hours, and I felt this rewarding sense of happiness of just spending quality time with family and being fully engaged in just taking care of the garden, cats, and home. Sometimes I would ask them to teach me the hobbies they did as children such as ceramics and painting. After we would get tired, we would sit outside in the garden and talk, they would tell me their stories, and lessons, and we talked about trivial things, yet those conversations made very happy memories that I am so glad I had. The warm sunlight, the slight breeze, and letting neighbors sit in the garden/pick fruits, were all very small things that I made sure to express gratitude for. You talking about how investing time in doing things you did as a kid, to discover what you love and happiness, reminded me of how my grandparents built their garden to replicate the prairie they lived in before escaping war and how much joy they have in their faces when they talk about the flowers and trees they've grown and planted. I felt the same joy I felt during summer as a kid spending time with them. It made me grateful because I always overlooked family, was always dependent on friends for happiness and things to do before the lockdown, but never looked at the more mindful activities I could do for myself which would make such a huge difference. Your videos helped me learn to love and spend time with myself as if I were my own friend. Since life resumed, I have grown, to focus on my values and living accordingly to them, behaving from a place of compassion and gratitude, being around people I value, taking care of myself, and investing in hobbies that bring me joy. I changed a lot since I started using your videos as a way to reflect on myself, and how I can slow down and just notice the small things at times I feel like I am unhappy or overwhelmed.
The valuable time spent with my grandma and grandpa, gardening, learning her recipes, and taking care of the stray cats that love her garden as well brought me the same relaxing peace your videos have brought to me when I was feeling down during the pandemic. It is crazy how much your channel impacted me so much. Now that life has a sort of resume, I am now becoming an adult, about to graduate, and have been busy navigating through the process of living on my own soon. I have been practicing doing these things on my own, gardening, hiking, and making new recipes and crafts. This is long but after seeing this video it left me reflecting on how much I have grown with gratitude and learned emotionally, since 2020. It reminded me how much your channel was a fresh breath of air and how much I miss gardening and spending my time with my grandparents last summer. Your videos helped me develop a love for spending quality time in nature and I am thinking about doing work exchange on farms across Europe this summer to live, eat and travel for free while exploring. Thank you so much for creating these videos and spreading good to others! Congratulations aswell!!!

That happens to me a lot. I've also found rocks and shape of dog's head and other animals along with the hearts. And I found a couple that resemble dragons. They are my most treasured possessions.🙂

I also find rocks in the shape of hearts and numerous other items in the shape of hearts. The most unique heart was created by our dog's drule on the cement while he waited patiently for a snack. I love to share that these hearts started appearing emediately after my mother passed. Therefore, every time I see a heart I think of mom. Before that I have always decorate my home with hearts.

I've been subscribed to your channel for a couple years. Due to toxic relationships I lost my child like wonder for a while. I would always be so fascinated with the smallest things (for example I would always find this tiny fly called the wooly aphids and catch them talk to them and let them go) I was mocked and told that I was embarrassing and stupid. I hid that part of me for so long. Your channel is helping me embrace my inner child again. I'm no longer in a relationship and have a young daughter whom I cannot wait to play with. I will never grow up I love who I am and thank you for reminding me.

When I was young, my mom prepared morel mushrooms for us. She'd wash them, cut them in half, dredge them through scrambled eggs, then coat them in cracker crumbs. Once prepared, she'd then fry the mushrooms in very hot melted butter. She'd cook it until the eggs are cooked. This is a pleasure.

I've been watching Paola's videos for 2 years now, and I gotta say. As much as a refuge as they can be from the stressful world, I'm finding myself feeling down the more I watch. Where I live there is a major housing crisis, gas costs 6$, groceries are unaffordable. I work 9-5 as a salaried scientist and I can barely stay afloat. Watching Paola inherit an affordable house from Luke's parents, on a retail salary, have land, animals, and be able to live outside of the 9-5 makes me so jealous.
I wish I could just move and embrace a similar life, but without money and a privileged partner I can't. I'm inspired but also discouraged.
Anyways, probably didn't need to comment this but it did make me feel better. Best of luck to all.

I cleaned and pressed wedding dresses when I worked at a Drycleaners for 25 years. I always made sure to congratulate the bride and remind her to not be too nervous and HAVE FUN!
Agreed! When we got married 22 years ago, our pastor told us, nah... forced us, to separate from the preparations one hour before the wedding so that we could just relax, meditate, and focus on us and what made our impending union so special. It was the best advice that we ever had, and I pass it on.
This advice, however, may not work for Paola, as we did not have a traditional wedding where the fiance does not see the bride until the ceremony, but we walked together, hand in hand, down the aisle. We also were in our early 40's, and did not want the typical high-stress, high-cost wedding, it was outdoors, in nature, the altar by a very old, massive, oak tree.

@@georgiannaneller1394 I think your idea is brilliant! The mosquitoes can be controlled by placing a dunk which looks like a small donut inside. I buy them at a garden and pond shop.
I use dunks because they are non toxic to the animals. I love this idea and wouldn’t have thought of it except for you!

Oh Paola living in a forest that is subject to wild fires would increase my anxiety so much! Have you given any thought about clearing the trees closest to your house? I doubt a small gravel perimeter would offer any protection from flying sparks etc. Then again, clearing the nearest trees wouldn’t do much either I suppose! It is so beautiful though.
Clearing dead brush definitely helps.

I myself am well-acquainted with the Fae. And they have definitely tried to take stuff and hide it right when I need it, the little rascals. Love em dearly but it's like I have kids...without me having given birth. And I'm strongly clairaudient, so I hear their little "hehehe" every time they try something they know annoys me. I don't know how many times I have had to admonish them to leave things like my car keys alone. Seriously -- they love "the shinies." 😜

I have to tell you that in March when this particular tree started getting tender buds I looked up and the sun was behind it and it looked like a bunch of fairy lights were on it but then the lights started fluttering from branch to branch. My husband said what are you seeing and I said you have to see this because you won't believe this so he looked and said it looks like fairies and I said yes that's what I thought too. We just watched in awe to see this beautiful scene. It was Amazing! We never seen it again WOW wished you could have seen it. Sending our Love To You and Luke!

@@madstamper64 Yes it passes in a blink of an eye doesn't it? After all these years I have just bits of memory here and there. They seem to be the memories when I did stop and try and absorb what a special day it was and not to get caught up in the 'arrangements' and everything going just right. It's all about 2 people and the joy of sharing a huge rite of passage with their friends and family.

I live in a magical place, with four seasons and an abundance of wildlife and vegetation, as well. I live in Michigan and the land reminds me of living inside a beautiful fairytale. I had Lilac tea, from my nature walk this morning. However, the people here are very, very different and my heart absolutely stays terribly broken, so I’m returning to the heart of the city of Houston, in two weeks; back to the South where I belong, evidently. I’m a true nature lover and I’ve been very emotional about leaving the land; crying many times every day. It’s just that I need friendliness and kindness to survive. I cannot go on like this. I need genuine and trustworthy relationships, because this is what life is all about, and I can’t be the only one to show true kindness. It’s draining my life force. I hope that one day I can live on a beautiful land again like these, but have the kind of relationships I need, at the same time. Moving and change is not easy. I’m a little concerned, so I’m just putting all my trust in God and His promise to clear the path. May your new life as a bride and wife exceed your heart’s desire.

What a beautiful place! I moved into my current spot 8 months ago and have been having a similar experience identifying all the abundant plants around here. I keep having moments where I make a mental note to plant something or other, and then as if by magic I find it already growing here that same day. It is absolutely awe-inspiring how much is out there for us to discover simply by taking the time to look closely and learn the names of things.
