A showy display of white flowers in spring yields an abundant harvest of dark crimson fruit each summer. Firm flesh with a wonderful flavor for fresh eating or in preserves. Fruit production is higher when another plum tree is nearby. A lovely border tree or garden accent. 400 chill hours recommended. Deciduous.

I made these by accident into preserves and looked this up to learn more about plums and it’s litterally the 4th of July today.
Picked on the 2nd of July and more are on the tree. You nailed it!
Thanks! We ate a few today and will pick a bunch to share on the 4th. Thanks for watching.
My favorite sweet plum! This is one of the many varieties developed by Luther Burbank, up in Sonoma County in the early 1900’s.
So good.
Wow! What an amazing life! He is responsible for so much of our food today! Thanks for the information! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_Burbank
Mine reached over 6 foot in 1 year. It was a stick when i planted it.
We live in Jerusalem and ours' is 6 years old. It grows at least ten feet tall so needs a vigorous pruning in the late fall. This year we have at least 500 plums! One thing that is a nuisance is that we lose about 5 to 10% to bugs and birds pecking the fruit. But much more successful than our apricot tree. It produced about 8 wormy fruit. It's hung a medfly trap on the both trees but didn't seem to help.
i have few specimen of this santa rosa cultivar and also many others,
and also apricot and few variety of pear trees at my backyard,
great tree for sure, love them very much, and they 'help' me a lot on distancing great amount of my precious time from social media.
Awesome, I agree 100%
Thank you, great video,!
Thanks for watching.
it grows to perfection from a cutting! and to use as understock for almond/prune/apicot/cherry/flowering prunuses! superb specie. thank you.
Great idea. It's my favorite plum... Thanks for watching!
Sweet! I put one in my parents backyard in early spring that we bought at costco, and it produced about 10-12 plums this first year. Question: we put in a Harcot apricot next to it, and it didn't produce this year, the tag said it needs 700 chill hours and I'm here in so-cal so I'm worried I got the wrong variety. Also will the apricot help pollinate the plum? thx
Nice! I love these plums! 700 hours seems high for the apricot, but give it a few years and see if it will produce. I only read that any other plum tree nearby will help with production, but this variety seems to do just fine on its own. I don't think the apricot will hurt, it should attract pollinators. I hope it produces, if not, check this out! www.crfg.org/pubs/ff/apricot_low_chill.html
Do you know if this will pollinate my japanese excelsor plum tree? If so, is it a good pollinator? Having trouble finding info on excelsor plum pollinators.
Excellent question, I am unsure. In San Diego, Zone 9B, the fruit is ripe in July. I do not pollenate the flowers, but get plenty of fruit. I heard this cultivar is a good pollinator, but I can't find much online to back it up.
Brother , please in need a Help ! I have this type of tree almost 200 trees, but the problem is that after flowering the harvest falls, especially if there is a little wind, I do not know if a lack of fertilizer or what should I do '?
Bummer! Do you have another pollen source nearby? These plums do well with other pollinators in the garden. We have a peach a different plum,, apricot, avocado, and citrus trees near this tree. I don't give it much fertilizer and the fruit seems to set well. I hope you have a better crop this year.
Can i grow Santa rosa plum in Singapore? Will it bear fruits?
I believe so. It can grow from zones 5 to 10
We grow santa Rosa plum commercially here in India
That is awesome! They are my favorite plum.
What is the flavor?
My favorite of all plums. Sweet and tart. Always ripe on the 4th of July in our yard.
