I appreciate the video. My Methley plum is a little over 3 years old and the only plum tree, I have producing so far. I had no idea what they actually were supposed to look like inside. I picked a couple and they were not ready. Now that I know what to look for it will be much easier. The tree is bearing heavy and I have thinned 3 times. I still ended up with one broken branch because I missed a cluster. Thanks

My Methley is covered in plums, but they are not that big, wondering if i fertlized to late, or perhaps theyll still get bigger since they have maybe another 2 months before picking..... itll be my first year to harvest.

Depends on the rootstock, but I would say 2 years. 3 years to get a large crop.

Did I hear you saying they doesn't test great? I am waiting for my young tree to give fruit. There is another video that the guy says it tastes great.

Compared to other plums and pluots it’s not that great. If it’s the only home grown plum you have had then it will be amazing.

How old is your tree? Maybe they will get sweeter as the tree ages. 😊

Methley plum doesn't have much distinctive flavor. Its strongest characteristic is that it ripens very early. I would recommend other varieties unless you just want an early ripening plum.

I don’t have an Italian plum to compare but our Methley plums have outstanding flavor. I’ve never been a plum fan but I eat these like candy and have to stop myself from eating too many. It’s a favorite tree in our orchard and anyone else who has enjoyed some of our bounty sings it’s praises. Definitely an early producer so if you get late freezes (May), you won’t have a fruit crop those years. We are in Payson, AZ…zone 6b
