I thought I wanted to do this. MCT isn’t even as hard as ITB and I was DONE. I look back now and realize how out of shape and little I even knew about the Marine Corps, and wish I had more drive to do better and be better. If I could go back, I would have tried out for Recon even if I failed selection. Still proud to be a Marine nonetheless. You gents are awesome!
Marine combat training isn't supposed to be as hard as infantry training. Marine combat training is for all MOSs other than infantry. An individual Marine does not have to be with a Recon unit to train with or like recon. There is Radio Battalion, or ANGLICO.
I'll always remember the Recon guys on my first MEU in 03 to OIFx1. I volunteered to do a field op/working party with them playing the role as the "enemy" watching those guys train, in the kill house, jump/parachute in, and then come breach combat town and kill us will be one of my coolest USMC memories, some were cocky dickheads, but most were cool ASF they'd always on ship hey are we playing HALO tonight lol! We'd link like 5 Xboxes. good times
That is insane! Thank you for making this video, been watching Surviving the Cut Recon Marines and always wondered what the training looks like today. It's crazy to how different it is than the documentary.

Familiar yourself with knots, and learn how to tie them. It’s always a good thing to have a head start on them before you go in because you will be tested on them. Also, if you have the chance, learn land navigation. Learn terrain association, as well how to read a map and compass. You will be TESTED HEAVILY on land navigation.
