Literally quit my job last month just to train for this shit. This means a lot to me thanks brother!
You can go to Recon training right after Boot Camp? Also can I eventually join MARSOC assuming I pass Recon training? I'm 16 and I plan on joining after high school.
@@josefernandez5329 yeah, you can get a recon contract which means you'll go after ITB (infantry training battalion) I think. But if you fail, they'll put you at any job the corps needs, if they need cooks, you'll be a cook. People go in with infantry contracts so if they fail, they'll go back to infantry and can retry when the opportunity is open again. If you do go in with a infantry contract, I've heard they'll ask for volunteers during or after you complete ITB. I don't know which it is.
I know what you mean about guys that are better/stronger/faster/meaner falling off. A little cold and wet, you come in last off an evolution and missed that meal, etc, and it starts to wear on em. Hell, I had to try 3 times before I weaseldicked through a RIP and got in a platoon. As far as the mental toughness, go jump in a pool in blue jeans. Rub some sand under your eyelids and in your crotch under your boxers (if you're stupid enough to wear them). Continue the rest of your week at a full sprint and sleep outside with random alarms. All I got was RIP, airborne, pre-scuba, an R&S pkg, an amphib pkg, a couple shooting pkgs and OEMS and a buncha deployments, which was why I ultimately left and went Army. But this video is dead on. Also, I have never met anyone who did not shit themselves at some point in the whole ordeal. One thing you didn't warn them about, which is kind of obsolete now I guess, is that during RIP anyone with both wings and dive bubble, in the absence of an instructor, can fuck. you. up..at any time they want. If you are waiting to class up, get a hotel on the weekends. Trust me.
Great video brother! You guys need to listen this guy! Throughout our training, we always talked about how we wished there was some kind of book that would help you figure out what to do to get there.

I wanted to be a marine since I was 10 years old before that I wanted to be military. However I was keen on knowledge and history and the morals such as God, family, country, and seek and destroy all who threaten it. But my parents never were taught and I wasn’t taught physical fitness until I moved to IL. I still did not know what I was doing until I got mentored by recon/infantry Marines and engineers. I want to be an infantry men but I’m considering other combat MOS due to limited spots and needing a first class PFT and more upper body strength. I want to be a Marine and the most combat affective Marine possible with one day perhaps SOF. I also like big guns and explosives so their again more upper body strength. A bit of advice. Don't not follow your dream but don't rush this. If you show up with a 44 GT on your asvab and something other than a first class, you will end up being placed in a job other than Recon. There are infantry guys that have 2nd class, but their life absolutely sucks because nobody wants to see that in the infantry. Better yourself and prep so that you can walk into Recon. If you rush it and go Recon and weren't prepped, they'll reclass you and you have a very high possibility in ending up in supply/admin/motor T etc. and promoting in ranks other than the job you want and won't be able to reclass.

Tricks regarding hydration, minerals & vitamins? I know a guy who almost died in selection because he had canteens and no hydration bladder and the others had/they were always on the run. Recovery: Here we use mountain pine oil. At least some / the smart of us.
I’ve been wondering about this for a while now so I might as well ask. What are the basic steps for someone who wants to be an officer in Recon or what would the process look like? I still have a few years of schooling left so this would be a ways off.
Hey Nick. I love the video. I have question for you. My Stepson wants to join the Marines and has interest in recon. He is a sophomore in high school. What is the best advise you could give him? I was told that he shouldn't sign a contract for recon, because if he didn't make it, the Marines would put him anywhere they choose . Should he wait to be volunteerred? When should he start training? Im going to buy your book for him. Thank you!

Awesome I've been looking for a vid like this
Awesome stuff Nick! Thanks for sharing your knowledge man!
Rah Devil dog I was waiting on this video keep this quality content coming. Do you think you could do a video in this style about MARSOC?
Is there a lot of schooling in Recon or is it just DO NOT QUIT.
Both, from my (fairly extensive) research.
Nick Koumalatsos, swear to Christ thought you were Triple H when you walked through door at the beginning of the vid.
God is good good
well done !! Semper Fi
14:10 yes I concur. Great video, my PFT 280 , great advice (evolution from the 1980's)this is why I like, this why I subscribe. Too old for Recon, but, if I was 35 years younger, yes I would go U.S.M.C, but,( I serve honorably buy. . .) but if I join now. why go Pussy? Go M.A.R.S.O.C. You boots keep my Marine Corps relevant. Carry on !
I don't know if it's just me, but the recon prep links aren't working.
this video is what made me a sub to you nick, very nice, and the stories are always welcomed. would definitely be interested in an updated edc video too.
Can you recommend a work out for my son who’s going to marine boot camp in 3 months
Yes
When I wanted to get better at pull ups I did weighted pull ups. I got stuck at ten pull ups then 5×5 with weighted pull ups got to 20 pull ups in no time
Also there was a massive cell in r.i. from the middle east, they had replaced many state police and Cranston police and immigration authority's,the military had actual came down from 3 different states,I see remnants of the cell today...
What were they saying when he said what is pain?
SEMPER FI MARINE
Oorah, motivator. I miss the Corps every day. Semper Fi!!
RIP made ARS a Vacation!
Tricks regarding hydration, minerals & vitamins?
I know a guy who almost died in selection because he had canteens and no hydration bladder and the others had/they were always on the run.
Recovery: Here we use mountain pine oil. At least some / the smart of us.
Nick, make a new EDC video with updated links
I’ve been wondering about this for a while now so I might as well ask. What are the basic steps for someone who wants to be an officer in Recon or what would the process look like? I still have a few years of schooling left so this would be a ways off.
When I was in Recon none of this help was available 1988
Nice
Very informatinal
Nick have you heard of how the instructors are being restricted over at RTC lately?
Run and swim repeat
Good one.
Never do this hung over! 😂
@3:16. Marines approach to everything Marine Corps haha!
Can u become a marine recon straight from civilian
Thank you
Thank you!
I was 6252 airframes av8b harrier 2÷ and flightline QRF
Are there Any more videos of your time in Force Recon?
One question: how do you have long hair and are active duty? May be a stupid question but was just curious
Marine recon prep link doesn’t work
Can civilians use your program just to get into shape
Does anyone have a link to, or know what the marines are saying in the pool. During the “what is pain” clip? I can’t u them
Yo, that google short link was taken down
Great video, mate! Which camera were you using throughout this video?
How do marines feel about coreman completing recon school ? Are they considered recon guys ?
I am planning to join the marines and go to recon and raiders i am also flat footed do you think they will allow me into the corps and go through recon and raiders
Nick Koumalatsos alright well thanks man i appreciate you responding to my commet and you've bin a big inspiration to me wanting to go through recon and raiders
If you want it don't claim anything and suck it up I watched atheletes get turned away from meps over flat feet because they claimed it remember you will run a lot at the speed of your leadership not your pace
quick question whats the difference between marine recon and marine force recon????
Go swimming, have strong bones, and thick legs.
Thanks
