Great coverage, as always! It does make me wonder: under the laws of war, the resources of an occupied region cannot be used for the benefits of the occupier, but they can (and should) be used to maintain / rebuild infrastructure in the occupied region. So from my reading, Ukraine would have full rights to tax all gas passing through the Sudzha pumping station, and if Russia refuses to pay, diverting a percentage of the gas to Ukraine to cover their debt, so long as the funds went to reconstruction in the Kursk People's Republic. So Russia blows up a building, bridge, or whatnot, Ukraine could rebuild it with Russian gas money. And surely Europe would take Ukraine's side in that dispute, only crediting Russia for delivering the non-taxed portion of the gas. I wonder if they'll end up taking that approach? The whole thing will be moot regardless at the end of the year when the transport contracts expire. Wherein, by all means, reverse the pumps, pump high pressure air into the Bratstvo pipeline at maximum power while the Russian pumping station at Mari El is off, do maximal damage (to the pipeline, Mari El pumping station, and Urengoy gas field), haul off the valuable pumping to safety, and start legal proceedings to seize it as part of reparations. Sad that Urengoy is an older gas field without that much life left in it anyway...

It forces Russia to seriously guard the entire border. Fresh recruits and rent-a-cops don’t cut it. That is a huge deal. The incursion is an embarrassment that Putin can not hide. The Ukrainian warriors have consistently proven themselves to be as bold and brilliant as they are cautious and wise.
Yes, very good analysis ! And it also proves to Russia that simply hiding their assets (planes, artillery, AA-weapons, radars, electronic warfare, ammo & fuel depots, troop concentrations etc.) behind the border will no longer mean that they can only be hit by the few long range munitions Ukraine has. Ukraine has now always the option to deal with those assets the old-fashioned way, namely in close combat.

Has your country paid compensation for the illegal invasion of Iraq and the numerous war crimes committed there like Abu Gharib? You are the same as russia.
After the Nazi's were defeated, most germans didn't believe the atrocities being committed, sometimes right next door. It was only after the allies forced the germans to look at what they'd done in the concentration camps that they no longer could be in denial of the evil they had unleashed upon the world. Russians has to be confronted with what they've done, bring them to Bucha, Vuhledar, Kharkiv, make them look at the torture chambers and mass graves and make them watch the atrocities russian soldiers themselves filmed and proudly showed to the world.
@@ThatSockmonkey It's not as easy as either all knew, or no-one knew. The closer you were to a camp, the more likely you knew what was going on. And while "nothing good happens there to you" was common knowledge, the details and the amount of cruelty were almost certainly not. Most people claiming they did not know what exactly happened in the camps is probably not a lie - but of course it's likely that a lot of people who did know lied. Also, there's a difference between having the knowledge of "those are hard labor camps", or "they're working people to death", or even "they're killing people there" - and seeing it with your own eyes. So showing this will still have a big impact even on people that may have been fully in the know.
"We are apolitical, we don't watch TV, we are not interested in politics, we work all day we don't know what is happening arround...", they say. Who believes them? 😂
That is how most Russians are. They live in a dictatorship, so having an opinion on politics is dangerous. But besides that really a lot of Russians are apathic about politics because "I anyways cant change anything"
Mouse people, same in all fear-o-cracies. Eternally scared, compliant, will even patriotically boast when commanded to. But if there is any visible opposition, they hide faces, avoid cameras. Afraid even of weak opposition. What do they know? Next, opposition may win after all?
If people are not interested in politics, then they are not interested in whether politics is continued with weapons. Russia invades a neighboring state and Russians only say that they are not interested in politics. Now Russians are confronted with the consequences of their indifference.
Most people are actually apolitical and just want to carry on with their lives. Even the fanatical keyboard warriors would feel the same if people with guns stormed their homes. These individuals thrive far from the frontlines, provoking others to fight more and more. They view wars as a sort of entertainment, experienced through the screen, much like a football match.

Not a russian phrase at all and a lot of people aren't into politics.i don't like that russia started a war, but still i'm not so brainwashed as to say a old grandma in a small village was supposed to do something about the government
That's extremely common in dictatorships. The tacit social contract is that you never complain about the Great Leader, only the leader's underlings. So if something goes wrong, you appeal to the Great Leader for help and complain about his underlings being incompetent or misleading him. And if the Great Leader ever needs to shift blame, he scapegoats an underling. This sort of behavior is deeply ingrained in such societies.
yeah they were lying. shame on them for never being honest with you.. but I guess denying it saved them ever having to accept their own accountability. Very common I would assume. The psychology is fascinating though.

1. Not "being interested in politics" is/was a mean of self-preservation in an authoritarian, police state. You'll hear this phrasing a lot if you watch street interviews, whether in Moscow or in remote places in the Federation (look for Daniil Orain 1420). 2. What did conflict with the journalist's ethic is not presenting visual testimonies to, or inform those civilians, it is to ask them questions about it (or recording their reaction), while having occupier soldiers in arms around, even after both parties denied being actively intimidating/intimidated. All things considered, it is a bit like being interrogated by the police without the assistance of a lawyer. I find this journalist very pro.

We all are… USA is defending Ukraine because there’s 16 trillion rare earth minerals in Ukraine, and USA wants them. Russia also wants the rare earth minerals. So what’s the outcome……? War for said minerals. And both sides always say it’s for something it’s not.
I am from Germany and a lot of people said something similar "We didn't know this was going on". Let's see if Russia will end up owning up to what they did, just like Germany had to.
I highly doubt it, Germany is one of the only country that was on the wrong side of history and isnt in denial about it. Japan isnt owning up to their past war crimes and so is Turkey.
Lmao people are pretending like Germany "owned up" to it's government's actions on it's own volition because of some kind of moral awakening. Buddy, Germany was crushed in a war, basically subjugated, made into the Allies' bitch and FORCED to "own up" to everything. They had no choice, lol. If that hadn't been the case, they never would've "owned up" to sh*t, just like every other government & society ever.
This is why it is so important for civilised countries not to sink to the level of their enemies. Being able to hold your head high means everything. God be with Ukraine. Someone needs to stand against a vicious dictator. It was Britain in WW2 and now Ukraine is doing their bit for democracy and freedom!
Yeah that's what surprised me. She must have had friends or even family across the border. Or other locals who went back and forth for work/trade/shopping prior to the border being closed. The border for the most part is a line on a map. Farmers on both sides must have chatted to each other?
Because war is in the eastern Ukraine genious? Do you realise atleast 80% of Ukraine lives in absolute normality and didnt see a shot fired since the war started?
"Moreover, I am not really into politics, I want this to end as soon as possible.. I always cry, get upset - that's why I didn't delve into it" "Do you understand that you were not into politics, but now politics has come to you" That exchange speaks volumes. It's understandable why people want to stay out of politics but when too many people sit out, it's a problem.
@@hesiolite Maybe- but as a Russian I must say that most people just don't watch the anything political. The civilians are probably not under direct pressure, but it is obvious that the presence of people with guns alters anyone, anywhere. Even when they are your own people, one changes demeanor naturally to the situation, so an occupying force of any kind will affect what people say, regardless of how well the occupiers behave. Its basic psychology, and why prisoner intervews always is understood as passively pressured, regardless of interview tecniques and how well the prisoner is taken care of. That said, they still are valuable for insights, as long as one keeps that dynamic in mind.
Also to keep in mind is the (well appreciated) voluntary disclosure at the start that this is a AFU guided tour, so the people might be "prepared" for the press. But as you said, it's still valuable reporting, as long as the circumstances are kept in mind.

And it also proves to Russia that simply hiding their assets (planes, artillery, AA-weapons, radars, electronic warfare, ammo & fuel depots, troop concentrations etc.) behind the border will no longer mean that they can only be hit by the few long range munitions Ukraine has.
That's what people claimed, but there's good evidence that it was pretty widely known what the "camps" were for.
You really believe that the "ordinary Germans" didn't know what was going on in these camps 😮😮😮

The civilians are probably not under direct pressure, but it is obvious that the presence of people with guns alters anyone, anywhere. Even when they are your own people, one changes demeanor naturally to the situation, so an occupying force of any kind will affect what people say, regardless of how well the occupiers behave. Jako vtip dobrý . Od Majdanu Ukrajina nedodržuje žádné mezinárodní zákony a tenhle fakt neokecáš protože je na dost důkazu .
you realise this is a pro-ukrainian reporter, they have full control over what they show and tell you
If people pay attention to the background images, the stark difference between what the occupation in Ukraine has done to every village, town, city and what THESE images show is so different.
ZERO obliteration of everything, in Ukraine, it's obliterating absolutely every single home and building.
That IS the difference between the two cultures, values, respect.
🇺🇦💪🔱
Thank you for seeing this.
That's why Ukraine should get their territories back and should get to keep the territories they so gracefully invaded, should they wish. Huge respect for Ukrainians, it takes a lot of strength to keep your integrity against an enemy that has NONE.
There was not a real fight. That’s why you didn’t find any signs of it. Ukrainians choose small part of the border guarded only by border patrol and went all in…. You see the fact and draw the wrong conclusion….
Or it's just Russia didn't use their citizens as meat shields and don't start battle in cities
@@etoyonkerNah, Ruzzia is stuck in the stone ages and likes scorched earth tactics. "if we can't have it, no one will". 🇷🇺🚫🇷🇺 🤮
Good work, wonder if Russia gonna get angry that you “crossed their border” 😅
they will and you are going to protest
I don't think so because it's not their border.. anymore

In reality so called journalists that enter illegally will pay a price if Russia gets them.
Everyone know that they were aware of everything and they were on the Russian side. . But what an old desperate woman could say in front of a foreign soldiers and an international media ? Let's try to use our brain not the flow of ignorance. People are always victims of war and dictators, and the suffering has no flag.
Ukraine have liberated them from fascists
This is what happens when you don´t care about politics. Politics cares about you. And politics will reach the kremlin too in due time.
"Due time" 800 years and counting
When decades of utter cavalier disinterest and apathy suddenly blows up in your face and all you can do is complain and mutter angrily about the sheer inconvenience of it all.
" _Don't you understand, you guys are forcing us to have ideas, an opinion, feelings on the matter! We are poor orcs, don't you understand that we do not have energy for that? Or worse, 'ideas', 'opinions' or 'feelings' can end us executed, or worse, deported to sibera??!!_ "
It's a sad sad reality.
Abandoned by Pootin.
I'm incredulous that these residents don't know anything of what Russia has done in Ukraine. Maybe Ukraine will show them more respect than their own leaders who fled.
“An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.”
"...if you say yes, (that Putin knows), it might be the wrong thing to say." That says it all.
These are images that you will NEVER see on Russian state T.V.
And if they did show on Russian state TV, the government-paid reporters will say its AI or some other lie
"do you understand that politics has come to you now?" damn that sentence must have hit hard
In every fucking videos, from either side
Wonderful front line reporting. Best move of Ukrainian forces so far. The Russian people need to understand what their government has done or nothing will change
Wow!! YOU are the bravest of bravest ti report in Russia. I applaud you
"...he [Putin] probably doesn't know."
The president of your country probably doesn't know it was invaded? What!?
That's just the omnipresent ruzzian brainwashing in action. For decades Pootin was creating his God-like status in that country. They truly admire him. He cannot be questioned. Everything wrong is because of "bad politicians" or because someone keeping the truth from him.
Seems like this town lives in isolation because they don't know anything
@@TheReelStuffthey always say this if something happens or in general about any problems, they say “ Putin just don’t know”. That’s terrible dictatorship
God blessed you all for reality
That woman is a liar that said she knows nothing.
she did not want to know

Your very brave,thankyou
I have zero sympathy.
I completely agree with your comment, zero

Ukraine continues to advance in kursk, invaded a new oblast, destroyed 200 million dollars of Russian oil, cut off Crimea even more, and the 3rd assault brigade launched a big attack on Russian positions in kharkiv. Wild times.
Ukraine is loosing the whole dombass faster than ever and kursk incursion has no military value and is costing lots of resources for nothing
Only wild thing is that you have been following this war for more than 2 years and still didnt realise taking and losing territory wont affect when this war ends.
@@skugskug9078You're right, when Ruzzia has no viable equipment in enough quantity to defend itself, it'll be the Russian population that pays the price. Not pootin or his shit bag cronies. China might as well take back some of the land ruz stole from them too.
When Ruzzia fails and falls (only a matter of time) the land will be Ukraine's as it always was and always will be. INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED BORDERS. Fuck Ruzzia.
9:00 i think she's crying around this point because she does not want to face the reality of understanding the politics and the realisation that she's on the bad guys' side. Sort of a burying of the head in sand.
9:17 well there is a difference lady, the Ukrainian government did not decide to invade a peaceful non waring nation because they stood up to a bully and wanted better lives. The Russian government did that, not Ukraine's.
She's at a certain stage of grief, the stage of denial still.
As a Russian, I can tell you, it's not about grief. As noted here, it's fascist denial. The propaganda is so strong that they'd rather believe in Nazis in the US than believe that they are fascists and have been supporting fascism all along.
