    It's fantastic for home/farm/hobby use. Smooth welding, and tips are cheap. The TIG torch option was a bit spendy. I have no need for a DC spool gun.

    I just bought one. I love it. But I wish I didn't have to buy their specific TIG torch. I have a few different tig torch set ups at home from other machines.. cant use any of them have to buy the special one because of the gas output...
    Has anyone tried retrofitting a separate tig torch some how?

    • @LincolnElectricRetail

      Hey Swampy Ryan,
      Glad to hear you are happy with the LE31MP. Thank you for your purchase. We wanted to make it easy to switch between welding processes. To do this, we use a universal 8-pin which makes it easy to change accessories from MIG, spool gun and TIG. That's why the TIG torch is specific to this unit. Retrofitting a different TIG torch probably wouldn't work.
      Wishing you a fun weekend!

    Are there any TIG video's for the LE31 MP, I'm looking to TIG weld some thin aluminum tubing for a diesel intercooler on an engine swap I'm doing. I bought the LE31 and I can't find any info??? Also is there a dust cover made for it yet???

    • @LincolnElectricRetail

      Hey Leon,
      The thickness range for aluminum welding with a LE31MP is 18 gauge to 3/16" using a Magnum® PRO spool gun Lincoln spool gun (K4360-1). Please reply if you have other questions. More info about the LE31MP can be found at lincolnelectricretail.com/products/multi-process-stick-mig-tig-welder/
      Happy welding!

      You need a AC current machine the LE31 mp from what I know of the LE31 does not have it

    • @sarblade
      @sarblade 4 роки тому

      Yeah, like Sterling231 says, you require AC for TIG aluminum, this machine is DC, however, if you add the spoolgun, then you can weld aluminum. I’m not sure how well,it does, I wouldn’t think anything thick because the 140 doesn’t produce enough heat, maybe preheating you’re thicker aluminum might weld up.

    Will this work for welding rock sliders to a toyota frame or the plates and hangers need to covert to straight axle. Or am I limited to basic hobby projects. I just purchased this machine and was curious. I have bigger welder but no 3 phase to run it at home.

    • @LincolnElectricRetail
      @LincolnElectricRetail  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Christopher,
      It depends on the thickness of the metal. The LE31MP has a welding output range of 30 to 140 amps for MIG, FCAW and Spool Gun which can weld 24 gauge to 5/16".

    Do I need gas to. Run tig

    • @LincolnElectricRetail
      @LincolnElectricRetail  3 роки тому

      Yes and the most common gas used for GTAW (TIG) is pure argon. Other gas blends can be used for special TIG applications but Argon is probably what you will be needing.

    This is a TIG question...to start the arc, would I have to scratch start or lift arc?

    • @LincolnElectricRetail

      Hi Adrian, it's scratch start. And if you'd like to share some of your TIG welding projects so other people can learn from you, our Facebook page is:

      I understand a scratch start, but if you add the pedal, isn’t it a touch start then

    • @LincolnElectricRetail
      @LincolnElectricRetail  4 роки тому +1

      @@sarblade You are correct. If you add the foot pedal in it is a touch start. The TIG foot pedal for the LE31MP is our Model # K4361-1. Hope this helps!

      @@LincolnElectricRetail Thanks for that info, I just purchased the Mig Pak 140MP, does this apply to it as well. The LE31MP is not available here. The other question that no one seemed to answer was, what is the difference between the Mig Pak and the Power Mig 140MP?

  • @JOROZC7009
    @JOROZC7009 4 роки тому

    Cant find anything about what the difference between the l31 and the 140mp is.
    Is it just that this is the newer model??

    • @LincolnElectricRetail
      @LincolnElectricRetail  4 роки тому

      The LE31MP and the 140MP are very similar. The big difference is where they are sold. The LE31MP is sold through retailers and the 140MP through welding equipment distributors. Here are links to product literature:

      140MP - www.lincolnelectric.com/assets/global/Products/K4498-1/e730.pdf
      As shown in the literature, both machines flux-cored weld up to 5/16" multipass with InnershieldNR-211-MP .035, the 140MP indicates it can do this also using .035.
      Both machines are manufactured by Lincoln.
      Thanks for asking and please write back with anymore questions.
      Good luck with your decision.

    • @LincolnElectricRetail
      @LincolnElectricRetail  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Sergio, I just checked with our technical staff and they said the LE31MP has the same specs as the 140MP. So it does weld up to 5/16" multipass with InnershieldNR-211-MP .035. So the only difference is where they are sold. LE31MP is sold through retail.
