Your video was very helpful in the rebuild of my 1993 RMX250 shock. The two bikes share many similarities. Have a blessed day. Happy Thanksgiving from the USA State of Michigan.
Awesome video. Even though it's an older bike it's the same process for any modern shock. Those tools you made are nice! The seal head setting tool is so nice to have when doing a shock.
Love how you zinc plate parts that’s amazing finish and durable, cerakoating is cool, but this is even better esp for fixings great work, learnt some cool things.
Excellent work! Your filming style is very much like Chris at click spring! I'm rebuilding a 95 Honda XL and your attention to detail is making me go back and redo parts I'd skimmed over for a much better finish overall! Thanks!
Great video, very helpful on disassembly. I rebuilt a 1989 RMX250 shock, almost identical to what is presented in this video. If the shaft/piston/head assembly is installed in the manner shown - it will result in air within the system, as the seal head has a rather larger cavity on the bottom side that will never allow the air to purge, also the seal head is not correctly positioned and shaft is not fully extended, this causes incorrect oil volume. This "air" will end up within the compression adjuster when the shock is installed into bike. The bleed screw located between the reservoir and main body needs to be utilized. Add oil into main reservoir and allow the oil to flow into reservoir slightly. Install the shaft assembly and stoke as shown in video, strike shaft eyelet with a plastic hammer to further remove air from valve stack, these steps will also clear air from compression adjuster, a torch can be used to flash air bubbles away. Hold a hand over reservoir to inhibit oil from further equalizing into reservoir , install seal head and clip, then pull/seat shaft assembly against clip (full extended). Add/remove oil as needed from reservoir and install bladder just until it seats the seal, then reorient shock body in vise so bleeder screw is pointed straight up. Remove screw and into the bleed port, install a small section of hose, appropriately sized funnel or syringe that will hold roughly 20cc of oil. The bladder and clip can now be fully installed and bladder can be pulled back against clip. Here is where the final air bleeding takes place. Make sure there is adequate oil in the bleed port oil holding device. Stroke the shaft in and out until you are certain all air has been bled from shaft assembly, finally shaft needs to fully extended out, remove oil holding device and reinstall bleed screw. I used 5wt oil and charged to the indicated 145psi nitrogen. After riding and comparing to original pre-rebuild ride quality, I feel 7wt oil and 200si is more appropriate . I lack the official specifications, so just my 2cents.
Where did you source parts for this shock? I have a 1992 RMX250 and i am having are ridiculously hard time finding a rebuild kit for my shock. Great video!
@@GoldsGarage i did eventually have success but i had to find each individual part from different brands and companys. If i can remember it was a combination of moose racing, all balls racing, and maybee something else. It was a while back.
Hi. I liked your video. I need to service a rear shock on a 2003 yamaha r1. I want to know what reference and amount of oil should I add, I also want to know what air pressure the preload should carry. I hope you can help me. From Colombia Thank you very much! Espero pueda ayudarme. Desde Colombia ¡Muchas Gracias!
Did you buy a new shrader valve for the piece that you use to fill the shock with nitrogen ? I think mine leaks and I don’t know if I can replace the valve itself cause when I went to fill it it leaked somewhere around the shrader valve and it’s sort of messed up from someone cross threading the old cap on it
Hi. Really enjoying yr videos. Could you please tell me the paint you used for the shock spring as i need to do mine and i like the results you have achieved with yours. thanks.
amazing, can you give some info about the zinc plating? What solution are you using?Don't you buff the parts when you take them out from the solution? They come so shinny straight away?
Do you know any method of purging the shock absorber without having to use a vacuum device, it would be of great help, I await your clarification, greetings.
I'm looking to rebuild my shock soon and I have an rmx250 which is very similar to this bike especially in terms of suspension. I am wondering if there is any better ways of refilling the oil? and what did you use to clean the internals of the shock? can I use brake cleaner?
I am almost done with a build very similar to yours! I am at the final stages and have had no luck... Do you happen to remember which shock bladder you are using? I have searched high and low and have had no success... PLEASE HELP!!
Hi like everyone else I am hooked and can't wait to see end result, and I owe you a big thank you for video on front suspension as it help me rebuild my 1993 rm 250. Would you know the stock gearing on the chain and sprockets my had 13 front and 50 rear many thanks, big fan in the UK 👍
How's it going? I had a question, I am restoring a 1990 Suzuki RM 250 and can't find anywhere to buy a front wheel spacer. My bike is missing that. Any recommendations, I would really appreciate the help. Thanks
Where did you get spare parts for the shock like new seals? I have the same work to do on my 1994 Öhlins shock but can't find any replacement parts for this model, it seems it is too old.
No idea if this is still being followed but worth a try. Wondered what year CRF bump stop did you use? We are just rebuilding a 92 RM and this part is no longer available. The one you use fits perfectly. Any help much appreciated.
Hi how are you? I followed your advice to repair my 250 cr Monoshock. I couldn't get the nitrogen charge. So I inflated it with air. He walked well for a while and suddenly stopped walking. It looked like it had the spring alone. The next day he was back to normal. Could it be due to bad assembly and there is air left? Or is it the air in the bladder that causes this?

I looked on UA-cam as I do most days and was happy to see a new upload of the build , yet again a joy to watch 👏🏻
Your videos are so relaxing and informative... please keep going with this build!

Man, very meticulous and professional job!
Enjoyed watching, and your attention to detail I found familiar. Cheers. PS, I also live local, go figure.

Hi,nice vid. I followed all the steps but my problem is the bladder. I can't find any replacement. What can i buy for replacement. Thank you
Did you happen to find one? This is the LAST piece to a full restoration and its quite frustrating...
What are you using for yellow paint? I’m doing a 93 rm125 and want to use the same color
good job bro, i like this 👍
Amazing!
Wow veramente complimenti super professional..!!
Great Job as always!!!
(I haven't done watching the video btw)

What are the dimensions of the shock bullet I have the same shock thanks great videos.
Adorei, trabalho fantástico!
Muchas gracias...es Perfecto
I'm having trouble pulling the shaft out. It seems like the seal is getting caught and I took the circlip out. Any help
How do you plan to set preload? Trying to figure out the best way on my 93. With the spring going against the retainers it’s tough
I wonder how many rides you will do before the rebound damping quits working.

Any local machine sho can make it
If you're not sure about measuring up take the bike to them and they will be able to work it out
Could I ask if the frame of the bike and also the shock spring have been powder coated or painted? Thanks
Hi, the frame and spring are both painted.
Can i use fork oil for this shock?

Wanted to see how you did the yellow coat. Only reason I watched this 🤣
Well constructed video!!
Are the rm 125 and 250 practically the same parts and assembly? Because I’m doing what you are on my rm 125
Cheers Callum. The 125 and 250 have plenty in common. The basic principles of restoration and assembly are the same.
G9Garage thanks for that! I’ll keep watching the vids as long as you make them!
Debería darlo en español muy bueno
