You took many things into consideration with your design . As a 32 yr mechanic myself, I advise that you make a guard for the belt in the event it breaks cause it's gonna cut right through that gas tank. Just a suggestion, good work on the upgrade
This is an amazing setup though! Thank you for this design! I'm going to probably do something very similar, I'm going to look into AC Delco 10si alternator see if that's about the same size as yours. This way you don't need Max RPMs to still get a charge
I can't get to my H15 for a while, but I'm thinking it might be able to go to the more forward position. More over in the FB thread - be nice to have the Amazon link/item# for that bracket, please.
Funny story: After receiving my 25 amp upgrade kit I removed the covers and flywheel only to find that what came factory had the same 8 pole / 10 magnet setup as what I had ordered. The reason it wasn’t keeping up with the fans was due to the main fuse being blown. I hadn’t checked it, but had just made the assumption the fans were over taxing the battery. I put it back together keeping the factory parts and now the voltage stays above 13 at idle even when running the cooling fan and the hydraulic cooler. Moral of the story: Don’t make assumptions and troubleshoot it before ordering parts.
@@sixlugchris3747 it doesn't sound like much, but if you only have a 15 hp engine and your hydro system requires 7-10hp, 1-2hp is a large draw. it will still work but maybe a bit much.

Yes that is a good idea! I will have to figure out a way to protect that tank.

I thought about a 10si style but wasn’t sure if the mounting tabs would be at the same place
@thegarageconnection if anyone can figure it out you would be the man

Hello do you. Have this in a kit now. ???
Does this set up get the alternator speed high enough to produce full output? The ratio seems low compared to a car
4” drive pulley, 2” alternator pulley at 3600 engine RPM
Most people run these machines at idle to half throttle Max. Hopefully that won't be an issue with charging @@thegarageconnection
@sixlugchris3747 I don't know if a acdelco 10 si alternator would fit, but that's what I use on the bobcat, it doesn't matter RPM it's still charges
Thanks:
Why not a mini alternator?
It doesn’t fit correctly with the mounting locations
Well crap. Of course I see this upgrade two days after I order an upgrade kit for the engine charging system….🤦♂️

Nice job, im sure you know how hp those gm alternators can use, may want to use an alternator from a small marine diesel.
Yes they’re quite a load on the engine, but as long as it’s essentially full throttle the ac unit should be kept off
Brilliant cam just wondering is the predator a direct fit with the lovejoy fitting
I’ve heard it’s 1hp per 25 amps so I wouldn’t think it would be too bad, plus you can probably remove the old charging system to get a little back
@@mark7330 B&M Excavating installed a Predator motor after his B&S died at 1000 hours. It took a couple videos so check him out to see it done.
