What I like most about these videos and tutorials and vlogs is how humble and "normal" they are. So friendly and patient. After watching several videos of Becki and Chris I just wanna drink tea and have dinner with them. Thank you for the amazing videos and I can't wait for more.
When Becki holds her hand behind the smart adapter and Chris goes, "...What is that?!" - One of the many subtle comments (yet so hilarious) and reasons why I subscribed.
would love to see you guys do a video tutorial on ISO, aperture, shutter speed etc. like an "idiots guide" for simple folk like me. Seeing Fanny again brought a tear to my eye.😢
Simon Blunden great suggestion! We are actually creating a little course over the summer with those things included! Hope to try and launch it by the fall. Let us know if there is anything else you would like to see, always looking for new video ideas 😊 Poor fanny, we filmed this right before we lost her. So sad!
Man, you two are seriously so much more likeable and real than Lost LeBozo and his clickbait girlfriend. Your photo/video talents are also on another level. Why aren't you two the popular Vancouver vlog couple instead??
I Lucked into getting mine really cheap as a demo that was never used. I believe its probably a older model but its great!! I use it for shooting our quads on the mud runs so it lets me get supper close without getting to dirty! haha!
This was so educational; thanks, guys! I had no idea how those filters worked - cool! I need to get more batteries than just one... that causes me a lot of grief. 😂
Well hey, that was interesting to learn. I'm sure it's changed a lot since you made this set but it's interesting to see what you used back then. Quite a lot of kit, but not as bulky as I would have expected.
Loved learning about your gear! I just upgraded from a point-and-shoot camera to a micro 4/3 with interchangeable lenses, so I'm diving into the world of more technical gear. And I really appreciate your format for explaining the gear, it let's us know you picked things for good reasons!
Thanks dude! We thought it might be good to explain why we use some of the stuff we have, especially the lenses. Congrats on the upgrade! New gear is super exciting!!
Just stumbled across your channel; content is fucking awesome. UA-cam been dying for me, glad to have found another channel to watch. Keep this shit up, y'all really gonna take off if this quality is maintained.
For your Sony for manual focus video just get some Pentax M vintage glass like the M 135mm f3.5 which is magic or any other, because Pentax Primes are just awesome and you can use them with sony. Forget about using Canon. Better colours and better lenses. Oh and mainly they are cheap also usually.
have you guys tried the sigma MC11 adapter for the Sony? I got way better results (though not perfect) than the metabones adapter. Love these gear kit shots
Nice kit guys.. interesting you have one cam for photos and one for video. Do you find autofocus works for video via the meta ones? I have heard bad things and it's an expensive gamble.
Great video, thanks for sharing! A couple of questions: 1. Do you use any flashes or LED lights? 2. What type of computer do you use for most of your video editing? 3. Did you use the Rode mic for this video? Was it mounted on the camera or elsewhere? Thanks in advance, Skye and I are looking into getting some video gear to start filming documentaries and this was super helpful.
Jackson Kale McLean Thanks for watching Jackson! We used window light for this video but we do have a fluorescent light bank we use for video. We talk about it further in our "what camera you should by" video. I think I've got them linked on the blog. For editing we use a Mac Pro with 48GB of RAM and we edit using Adobe Premiere Pro CC (plus audition, after effects and illustrator). We do find that we still need more power as the 4K footage takes a lot out of the computer. For this vid we used the rode video micro mounted on top of the camera for audio. The camera was on a tripod about 4 feet away from us. Hope that helps! Let us know if you have anymore questions! :)
besides the fact that the sony has s log, how come you guys went with the sony when you have so many expensive cannon lenses ? Ive contemplated going to sony just cause of the video features for a long time now, but I'm all ready heavily invested in cannon glass.
wayne keizer the A7sii doesn’t have the greatest AF to begin with. When you go with even the a6300/6500 (which I have) or the newer a7iii, AF system is a whole ton better and the adapted lenses even focuses just fine!
hey, great video even though im 10 months late, I just want to ask if it's sensible to use an adapter such as the metabones for stills and video with canon lenses? i.e is the disadvantage of autofocus speed so much of a problem that autofocus in general even for stills is unusable?
zczcc thanks! The autofocus with the adapter is unusable, you have to manual focus even when shooting stills. It became more of a hassle that we ended up buying a Sony 24-70. That said, there is focus peaking and a feature where it allows you to zoom in to check focus, which is fine for video but a bit of a hassle for photos. Hope that’s helpful!
I tested an A7R ii in a store today with metabones and a canon 24-105 f4 L and it seemed to focus fine and I seemed to get focused images, I could be wrong but i think autofocus is possible and it didn't seem too slow either
zczcc interesting! Same adapter? I haven’t shot a ton of stills with the A7S2 and canon lenses so it might be fine, but it doesn’t work reliably with video.
Could I use the Sony a7 iii as my all round video and stills cam? Was thinking of getting the 16-35 f4 with it and the 55 1.8 , then the tamron 28-75 for my 24-75 equiv.
I am a beginner at photography and i love interieur photography. But i have a realy low budget. I only have the 18-55 mm lens with the canon 700d. But i have trouble to get wide angel shots. Any tips?
Nice gear! Do you have problems with Metabones IV with Canon L lenses? Specifically 24-70 since I'm planning to invest in Metabones and 24-70 2.8ii canon. Thank you!
Becki and Chris i'm planning to use the 24-70 2.8ii in the a7sii 100% manual for videos. Does changing the aperture through electronic connection of the a7sii and metabones iv problematic? Some cheaper adapters make the aperture change in video freeze. Thank you! Planning to invest in Metabones iv. 🙂
Rian Chester Tan in that case you are golden. It's one my my favourite combos. I haven't had any issues with aperture, but we don't use the 24-70 all the time (we have the original) so I'm not sure if the issue would pop up if we were using it more.

Video on my birthday! The background song is love! Nice to see older videos 😎
Everyone always says gear doesn't matter, doesn't stop it being super interesting. Great video!
Cameron McNiff thanks dude! We love gear 😍
Im so happy I found you all's channel! Dynamic Duo! You two are lucky to have each other
Nice kit. 😀 Good to see a lot of older gear still getting it done. I have a bunch of 9 year-ish old Canon L lenses that just keep on trucking.
I love that you two were at Vista House. I love shooting in the gorge!

Thank you!!! Maybe one of these days, slow and steady 😂
Well that's quit the collection you got there !! Love it
So envious of all this great gear!
Amalie Karlshøj Radoor took a long while to acquire but it’s fun to have!
Just got the 70-200mm 2.8 II IS though. Can't wait for photo opportunities!
Those 70-200mm lens are killer. Ive only been using it for about a year and a half and I dont know how I went without one!
Myler 709x they are great! We don't use ours often but it's a great range to have in the bag!
I Lucked into getting mine really cheap as a demo that was never used. I believe its probably a older model but its great!! I use it for shooting our quads on the mud runs so it lets me get supper close without getting to dirty! haha!
Myler 709x that's amazing! Ours might be about 13 years old and still kicking it! Great quality!
I really need to add one to my kit.
This was so educational; thanks, guys! I had no idea how those filters worked - cool! I need to get more batteries than just one... that causes me a lot of grief. 😂
The DIY Mommy thanks for watching! Yeah the ND filters are great! And extra batteries are key! 😊😊
Just started watching u guy's from Peter's channel, and i really like u guy's love the message u put out. (On Life) peace and blessing, B more.

New sub and I love this content..keep up the good vids

Great video. Might want to update your links in the description though. Still links to your old site.
Nice kit guys.. interesting you have one cam for photos and one for video. Do you find autofocus works for video via the meta ones? I have heard bad things and it's an expensive gamble.
They literally stated that it's too slow to depend on and that they use manual focus with the adapter.
@@tamvibes I must have mis heard that part. Thanks
Dang, that's all in a camera bag!
Just subbed, cant wait to see some more content!!
Great video, thanks for sharing! A couple of questions:
1. Do you use any flashes or LED lights?
2. What type of computer do you use for most of your video editing?
3. Did you use the Rode mic for this video? Was it mounted on the camera or elsewhere?

So cool to see all the gear you use! We need some lapel mics - do you have Canadian links for the ones you use by any chance? Thanks!
Sustain My Craft Habit thanks! I don't have a Canadian link but if you google Aspen Mic's you might be able to find them in Canada.
How is it even possible, that you have only 3k subscribers?! How?!?!?!
SEAGULLSSSS lmao the ending
GIRL I Need to know where you got that yellow rain jacket, I've been looking for one for forever, pleaseeeeee tell me haha
Top shop about three years ago!
Thank you!! Do you know the brand?
Chris and Lyss Vlogs it’s Topshop brand!
Thanks so much! I just found one used on Poshmark and bought it! Pretty sure it’s the exact same one :) thank you!!!

Ive contemplated going to sony just cause of the video features for a long time now, but I'm all ready heavily invested in cannon glass.
wayne keizer just use an adapter dude
yeah but autofocus goes to shit when you do that.
There is some great ( but expensive ) adapter that works fine !
wayne keizer the A7sii doesn’t have the greatest AF to begin with. When you go with even the a6300/6500 (which I have) or the newer a7iii, AF system is a whole ton better and the adapted lenses even focuses just fine!
Good lord, update this video! I thought you were using the Mark III in 2022 then I checked the date of this post lol
hi guys, could you please give me the link for your new tripod? i could't find it. thank you
On your Rode video micro what did you use to tie the dead cat on to the mic?
I had that problem today. When you clamp the mic onto the mount, just pinch some of the strands of fluff into the mount clip. Works fine for me.
@@karlevlogs Great tip. I'll try that next time. Thanks.

yeah i was pleasantly surprised with its focusing actually and I've heard good things about the sigma adapter as well

Rinske Colours time for a new lens!
is the WB a bit off?
Anyone know where I can find that brown leather shoulder strap that was on the Canon 5D MkIII? I want one 😂, Thanks.
Omg Chris at 3:35 🤔🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Nice gear! Do you have problems with Metabones IV with Canon L lenses? Specifically 24-70 since I'm planning to invest in Metabones and 24-70 2.8ii canon. Thank you!
Rian Chester Tan thanks much! Autofocus sucks with the 24-70 and metabones, you have to manual focus but having focus peaking on makes it very usable.
