I have a Shimoda bag and I know what you mean. It's very nice and very comfortable but for whatever reason it's not the easy to configure. I always find myself going back to my trusty Lowepro 450 AW II.
It astounds me why you do not have 800K+ followers on this channel. Amazing content as always Josh! Definitely want to see more about the DJI Pocket 3 :D
omg perfect video for me! I actually just recently bought this same backpack used for $200, but regret not going for the Shimoda 😅 one day I’ll make the switch! but currently the peter mckinnon 25L is working great for me so I cannot complain too much
I do similar with my PM 25L bag. You might also want to take a look at the Peter Lingren Jupio TriCharge. It holds 3 canon batteries, charges them with USB C, and is also a battery bank draining 1 battery at a time. I recently went to Europe and it worked amazing. 1 power brick + tricharge eliminated the need for a battery chargers and power bank
@@Josh_Sattin I use Sony so I use the OEM batteries and chargers also but I have been finding it much more convenient to charge 3 batteries one shot and without all the extra cables and space of the three Sony chargers. Also canon is picky and now with the new P batteries, who knows
Thanks for the great video! I actually sold my Peter McKinnon 25L and went for Shimoda. Shimoda is more comfortable than Peter McKinnon 25L. I can also store my camera vertically no issues.
Great stuff! how do you find it going back-and-forth between the laptop and the studio? I was thinking about taking a jump to doing that and I start trying to figure out the logistics and my brain overheats. I often wonder if I’m overthinking it and/or if it’s worth it.
great vid! agree on the Pocket 3, been a really convenient little cam to keep in the bag! very capable, good IQ, and great battery life. have you played with the hyperlapses on it yet? I've been having more fun with these than initially expected
Lovely kit! Were you not worried about not having a standby body with you as well? I mean if you are travelling to remote places and your body goes down you are pretty much screwed are you not?
Hi Josh, have you ever used the Ugreen 100W charging brick you showcased to charge your Canon R5 mark 2? Please let me know since I was looking out for an adaptor to charge the camera with the battery inside directly. Thanks in advance.
I’ve seen that product and it looks super cool. I generally try to only use OEM brand batteries and OEM brand chargers to charge those batteries though.
Thanks for sharing.. One question, if taking a trip to Alaska (yes, I am a professional photographer and have made many trips to Alaska) why not pack and extra body (like a Canon R7 etc.) you are aware of the old saying about Murphy's Law.........Yes, I am also using a Canon R5M2 but always travel with an extra body.. Just Asking!
You’re welcome. That is a great question and something I considered. The reality was that I was visiting and traveling with a friend that lives there and has many extra cameras.
BE CAREFUL putting that aluminum multi-tool in the bottom pocket of your bag! I have the same one and it wound up scratching my then-brand-new 28-70 f/2 lens barrel. 😬 The lens works fine and is beautiful, but a little piece of me died when I saw that scratch on my first trip. I honestly found myself looking over at it repeatedly in this video, willing it NOT to scratch anything for you! 🤣
Seeking advice. I have a Sony FX3, a Tamron 35-150, and a Tiffen ND filter. I'm a wedding videographer and am frequently in situations where the light is glaring. Though I can darken my image sufficiently with the filter, I can't get rid of the hazy quality, and it greatly diminishes my images. What combo should I use to eliminate haze in the worst of lighting situations? I don't use my Sony's hood, because it doesn't fit on top of the filter. Would finding a hood that would fit do the trick? Would a different ND filter? I'm also curious if others mess with their shutter speed - and if so in what conditions? Thank you in advance!
If it's glare from water or a reflection, a polarizing filter can help, if it's glare from the light, use the tamron hood that was included. I'm not sure what sony hood not fitting on top of the filter? If you mean the tamron lens hood doesn't fit on top of the ND filter, get a thread in lens hood that can thread on top of the ND filter
Can you tell us how this 14 inch m3 max mac handles canon R5 mark ii 8k Raw please tell us if you can with color grading and and exporting or rendering speed
I did not have any issues with TSA. This was my first time using TSA Pre. I have traveled with the multi tool before though without issues but I could have gotten lucky with the TSA people those days. No idea.
This is perfect because I’m planning a trip to Alaska in 2025.
Noting all this down for my LensRentals order 😂
I love the 1.4x on my 100-500 esp on bright days it’s amazing.

@@Josh_Sattin absolutely sir! 👍🏽
That was an awesome Alaskan trip video! Another reminder to go out and shoot!
Thanks! Yes, go out and shoot!
Nice kit! I’ll have to check out your other Alaska videos. Haven’t been in a while but hoping to do so next year to see the auroras too.
Thanks for checking out the videos!
Thanks for sharing Josh! The trip looks awesome. Also, nice glasses lol.
You’re welcome. Yeah I am usually wearing contacts. I don’t have great eyesight.

The kit makes sense given how light and portable the 100-500 lens is. 24-500 coverage. I should re buy the 100-500.

Thanks! I was visiting and traveling with a friend of mine. He has MANY extra cameras. Otherwise I totally would have brought a backup.
Great video, is it safe to keep the Macbook in the backpack while tripod foot of the lens might do some pressure against it!!

Nice video! But don’t you bring a backup camera? I mean even a R50
Thanks! I totally would have brought a backup, but my friend who I was visiting and traveling with has many extra cameras.
@@Josh_Sattin top, that’s the only answer I expected
Cool battery case. It’s definitely something I could use. What’s the make and model?
Links for everything mentioned are in the description.
What is your thought about using the TRi-Charger instead of battery charger, SD holder, and charger?
I’ve seen that product and it looks super cool. I generally try to only use OEM brand batteries and OEM brand chargers to charge those batteries though.
Welcome to the dark side.
Haha. Thanks for the push to get the bag.
I have never gotten the Smallrig VB99pro to charge quickly. I’ve tried various cables, power adapters etc but it always takes hoooours to charge!

I see your mult-tool in the bag. Did you not have any issues with TSA with that?
I did not have any issues with TSA. This was my first time using TSA Pre. I have traveled with the multi tool before though without issues but I could have gotten lucky with the TSA people those days. No idea.
the mighty TSA!
curious why you use the 1.4x and not the 2x?
1.4x is plenty and 2x degrades the image more.
