The opening theme music to "Police Woman" composed by Morton Stevens is one of the greatest TV theme music pieces in the history of television! I miss that era of great television so much!
@@masteridiot5693 . Didn't Mort Stevens also compose the theme song for the great "Hawaii 5-0" TV series of the late 1960's-1970's that the music group, The Ventures subsequently recorded?
@@carolbell8797Yes! Even before reading your post, I was saying to myself that the Barnaby Jones theme is kinda similar---probably inspired by the (earlier) Police Woman music.

Lovely Angie Dickinson, soon to be 100 years old, and still a terrific yet down to earth personality. Thank you for your wonderful work on screens big and not so big.
@@davidsomerset Sorry to say but I'm laughing at this intro, this can't be a "Police Woman". Jumping into the water fountain fully clothed, clumsy man tripping over short hedges and they even got knuckle dusters on a woman's hand... C'mon, was this a comedy show or something???
While we had some fantastic cop\detective shows in the 80s and 90s the 70s was the true golden age of the genre where cop\detective shows dominated the ratings and America's love. Baretta, Kojak, The Mod Squad, Columbo, Rockford Files, Police Woman, Hawaii Five O, Vega$, SWAT, Ironside, Starsky & Hutch, Barnaby Jones, Cannon etc. and plenty more.
The music aside, my favorite scene from this season of "Police Woman"'s opening theme is when Earl Holliman ran, jumped, dove, hit, & rolled on the ground while holding his pistol with both hands. Hitting the grass next to that small tree. One could also see the 67' Ford Mustang in the background that Angie Dickinson was driving in that episode when Holliman performed that action scene. Still watch this particular opening theme quite frequently. When, as a youngster in the 70's, I would go outside & emulate the run, jump, dive, hit, & roll just like Earl Holliman did. God it was fun! I practiced the maneuver multiple times. The only thing missing was having a 67' Ford Mustang nearby. Have only seen the episode once. Sure would like to see it again!
I watched the show when I was 12 with my grandma. Baretta, The Rockford Files and Barnaby Jones were her favorite. I thought Pepper was pretty and had great skin. I later read she rubbed her face with almond oil. Thought that was remarkable.... How many know that the four main characters are still alive today in 2022?? Amazing.
Seventies cop shows rock! Great music, gritty realism, location shooting, hunks and hot chicks, and my God the cars! I love the customs and the bel airs. Harry o and swat were great. So was the blue knight with Lloyd bridges.
How did i forget about this!?..I loved police women. I tell u being a child growing up in 70's was everything. So so many good tv shows. We had one of those HUGE antennas on roof with the box on tv to turn and position it for better picture...So funny.
@ Storm Jacobs. Yeah the antenna rotor! Great memories from my childhood turning the knob on the antenna rotor to point the antenna on the roof of our house towards NYC to watch "Creature Features" on WNEW Channel 5 or to turn the antenna towards Philadelphia to watch "Dr. Shock" on WPHL Channel 17 from Philadelphia on Saturday nights during the early 1970's!!
One of the best TV show intros and music scores of the 70's, or any decade for that matter. Really cool how Angie's image is captured just as she fires her gun and the shotgun blast to the LTD looks 100% authentic. The male players look like they just stepped out of The Beastie Boys "Sabotage" music video. I remember watching this in the mid 70's when I was just a kid. So cool to watch it again. Decades TV aired a weekend of Police Woman episodes a few months back.
Yes, this theme, Movin' On and Rockford Files were the best themes of the 1970's from a decade full of great themes. The NBC Mystery Movie theme was great, and the CBS Movie theme was great.
I remember this well as a young lad in the 70's. It was one of my father's favorite shows. I found the theme to be haunting and at times mournful. I recall a few episodes that bordered on creepy which have remained with me for over 40 years. Great time for TV
Shows like these bring back nice memories. My father like the comedy shows like Bob Hope specials, Jackie Gleason etc But when Policewoman came on, he would watch it with me.
