  • A subscriber reached out to me from Spain in hopes of acquiring a Sega Nomad at a (somewhat) reasonable price. The device chosen was already recapped and had an LCD installed, what could go wrong?

I would like to confirm, said subscriber is extremally excited, linking video to friends and tracking package, with enough page refreshing to take down entire Spanish postal system.

That's a great job you've done there, it's extended that Nomad's life for another 25 years!

Those lcd driver boards are known to fail prematurely, and im not 100% on that epoxy.
Itll be around another 25 years for sure

Love the flux pen trick, and rebuilding the screw post threads with JB weld is great too.

Sir, I would’ve taken off all of those large radial caps, wires, and replaced them with SMD caps. That first attempt at fixing it, was a horrible cluster_ and imminent danger⚠️ !!

id check if your component cable is on the correct test pad. Its obvious your power and ground are working.

it doesnt play games at all? no sound?
if thats the case id suspect a bad capacitor.
make sure to use an ohm meter!

I love repair channels but I have to provide a bit of honest feedback. Your vocal style is very off putting for me. Sounds so forced and unnatural like those viral Russian UA-cam nature channels with the same weird vocal style. Just some feedback from a fellow retro repair enthusiast. I’d enjoy the videos more if the narration was more chill. Macho Nacho is a good example.

It's all a matter of personal preference, Macho Nacho was not doing it for me at all. I like how Retro-AF reminded me of Project Farm's narration.
