I was behind one of these guards lining the mall for a visit by the Japanese emperor (I think). It must have been in the mid 90s, sweat was pouring down his face in all that gear and he kept blowing the strands of fur that was dropping over his eyes. Greatest of respect for them.
Nice, many other UA-cam videos on the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace often focus on the band playing and very rarely focus on the actual changing of the guard which is the main thing people come to see.
@@lynxyt_194 thats true the other thing I was wondering if any of them are wearing face masks cos that would be very strange to see if you saw them marching up and down in one.
It's designed like that to have stopped a sabre slash to the face, in times gone by! Also means if their bearskin was hit off, it wouldn't snatch their neck back (like it would if it was under the chin).
They'd be the same, they have to follow strict rules, and can't be distracted by anything. That's why it's near impossible to make them laught. If they aren't serious they'll be fired.
Donald John Trump unless they are caught, many guards have gotten away with smiling in the past since it is either not recorded or the ministry of defence don't see it anywhere, but yeah you are right. And sometimes you can just go to military prison for a bit. And you get extra hours on guard, but not for good reasons, it makes you more tired so more effort and work put into it.
Aidan this is designed to be somewhat more practical, and where the tomb guards are a single platoon that spends 90% of its time drilling and cleaning etc. the Palace Guards rotate units. Also, unlike the Tomb Guards these guys have working rifles. The M-14s at Arlington are deactivated.
Aidan - the Guards Regiments soldiers are manned by professionals fighting soldiers who can be sent anywhere on ACTIVE service - where they are regularly put in hams way. Your comment is truly offensive.
David Tinker to add to your comment, they rotate the post of “Palace Guard” to various Regiments, not only of the British Military, but on occasion, Commonwealth Regiments as well. It is considered the highest honor to have your Regiment selected to man the Post. It’s not like the Old Guard, where the Tomb Platoon are dedicated to their post.
Different military customs and traditions. Also, the Old Guard is dedicated to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while the different regiments in the Queens Guards rotate and change commands.
The most elaborate punching of a time clock ever.

@@alphonsenfor815 I’m high and laughing at that
They regularly take walks to reduce fatigue from excessive standstill periods
Don't get in their way, they will stomp you out quick. Much respect from your brothers across the ocean.
Seem rather dangerous during superior collection and returning the log time when he turned around with the dagger so near to the head of the guard.
A lot of the guards look so young..I don't know why but I didn't expect that.
these are Welsh guards regiment [ white & green plume on left of bearskin, collar badge is a leek, tunic buttons grouped in fives]

Hermosa nuestra querida marcha san lorenzo

How’s class going
Wow I was not born in that year I’m so surprised lo
Make them laugh, they'll pay 260 euros if they get caught by their superior officers.
what..no Rockette high kicking...just stomping of the feets?
The march's a wee bit lazy, considering it's Buckingham's. And the horse kicks doesn't help 🙈
Could've made the chin straps a bit longer eh?

Jessika Meeker Not fired, they're pay would be docked, or they would have to redo discipline training.
Donald John Trump Oh, I had been told they get fired. Sorry for the misinformation.

The British uniform is nice and all but what is with the goofy clown shoes? Throws it off for me
Has anyone seen the Germans do their change?
Basic training certainly dropped
Too boring...check the guard change at Ataturk Moseleum trust me you will see huge difference.
My school This is boaaaarding
Bull your boots.
The swedes does it better
Compared to Arlington change of guards this looks amatuer
