  • Hey GlamFam!
In this video I will be showing you how to use a curling wand, as well as explaining the different components of the wands, and how to correctly use them! This video is beginner friendly! I will even share a few tips with you on how to keep from burning yourself (Like I did in the video... #ThugLife lol)
Here are the tools I used:
    *Curling wand: amzn.to/2KxYZff
    *Rusk hairspray: amzn.to/2Ky9sY0
*Mannequin (this is an alternative to the one I'm using, mine is more expensive and harder to find.) :amzn.to/2I8wG8L
*AND, BECAUSE I KNOW SOMEONE WILL ASK, here is the link to my shirt ;) amzn.to/2Ifaytl
*AND!!! The efoliating gloves so you don't burn yourself... you can thank me later: amzn.to/2FGIlpX
I hope you learn something valuable from this video GlamFam!! If you did, let me know what you learned in the comment section! As always, you know I love you boo! Stay tuned for the next video, and Stay Glam!! Take care and God bless!

You may want to opt for more heat free methods of styling like dampening the hair and setting it on a flexi-rod. Direct heat can often strip certain fashion colors

I’ve been a tomboy my whole life and am starting to get in touch with my “feminine” side. I‘ve been learning how to doll myself up with makeup and hair, but curling/straightening hair has totally scared me the most. This video was so helpful, I’ll definitely be getting those gloves after this! Thank you!

Same. I have been natural for 15 years with NO heat at all. Back in high school I had a relaxer and went to salon each week. Am so scared of these heat tools, but want to start doing straight hair for winter. I need all the info I can get to prevent damage. Linwood is a good teacher thoughtful. I am gonna watch some Glam Twins vids too.

I got a Remington rod today. I found it at a thrift store for cheap lol and even though I have burned my fingers a few times it ACTUALLY curled my hair. Which is great because my hair don't want to ever hold them. Its like one side I'll get a few curls the rest just roll out. And I don't mess with it either. It comes out straight too. And I've used many different curling irons like with the clamp. So I'm happy that this rod actually does something.

Can you suggest a curling iron or wand for thick hair?
My hair are super straight and so far nothing can really curl them. I end up with pin curl them or use rugs - old traditional style.
Which isn't bad, but it's certainly time consuming

This might sound a bit odd, but I'm very new to using a curling wand, and I'm having a lot of trouble sectioning my hair. So I curl one piece, and it get's lost in all the other uncurled pieces, and It ends up being a big mess. Any tips on how to just section my hair so that it is easier to manage? I tried just keeping one side tied back, doing a half up half down, just going in blind, but it always ends up messy and I loose my curls I've already done. Also, I have long hair (which isn't extremely thick). Sorry this is such a weird question, I know it might seem simple but I really am a mess!

I would say to put it in as many sections as necessary. For some clients I use 5-6 clips and I section small rows with a small duckbill clip as well. It helps keep everything organized so it’s not all tangled up.

Linwood I learned so much. I am truly addicted to your channel. I watch all your videos and learn and laugh and feel like family!! I looked all over but - I can’t find the second video to this one. Did you post it yet? My hair is naturally wavy and I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to do those old Hollywood waves. It is probably the only thing my mixed head of hair is good at. Can you posy the link?? Love you and your gorgeous family!! 😘

It hasn’t posted yet, that will be the next video on this channel. Look for it on Tuesday or Wednesday I’d say.
I do have a tutorial you may like then on retro Glam waves, those are more like old Hollywood. The ones I’ll be showing on the next video are like present Hollywood beach waves.

Great info Linwood!! But what temperature do you recomend for synthetic wigs. I've used a steamer before, but th it s is totally different. My Raque Welsh needs a few curls! Thank you Sir 🙋‍♀️

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  5 років тому

Synthetic hair usually responds well to about 250F
