- An easy how to short hair tutorial with different styles of curls using a flat iron versus using a curling wand. With curling wands, you can create more than one style of curl to sass things up using a flat wrap or a rope wrap. With hair straighteners, there are two styles of curls you can do on that short hair. Comment what your favorite curls are. Is it more with a straightener/flat iron or a curling wand?

I used my tools on 390 and I have medium fine hair, so adjust yours accordingly. Always start out with less heat to test out and go from there. I wouldn't use my curling wand higher than 410 to be safe.

I watched your tutorial. And I have not had much luck with the curling iron or the flat iron. I have all one length shoulder length hair. And I have never been able to get lift or volume with either. So, today I went out and bought the wand. It has 3 different sizes. I tried the small wand today and it made my hair super curly and I love it. It of course took awhile to do it because I had to get used to using it. But I never bought one before because i didn't think it would work on my hair since it is course and thick. But to my surprise it did. I am happy with the results. I'm glad i watched your tutorial. Thank you.

You described my exact aversion to the abomination that is dry hands plus fabrics! Microfiber cloths ARE the worst! I’ve always struggled to describe this sensation to people, telling them it’s the equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard. It bugs me so much I started wearing nitrile gloves to fold laundry. Glad I’m not the only weirdo with this affliction!! 😂

Nope, your hair is the perfect length, Jocelyn! Hold it closer to the root and upward and you'll be amazed. Just be certain your hair is really dry. I use both heat and curl products. The curl starts where the hair pulls in. My picture here is after a hairdresser appointment, so these curls are from a curling iron. You obviously won't curl the really short hair underneath. If you try it, you'll have to let us know what you think! 😘

Love both!! I think I like the wand the best. My hair is just recently cut similar to yours after years of having long hair. I just have a hard time with using a wand bc I use a curling iron. Most definitely gonna try it though. I wish you would do a video of how to section off hair to dry and style I think if I can master that it will be so much easier than just grabbing pieces of hair! You’re a beautiful girl!!
YAY! You can try using your curling iron without using the clamp to get a similar look to the wands and get used to the general way of doing it. I will keep that in mind for future videos! Maybe a before drying video? Products and explanations? xoxox

I just cut my hair into an bob style. This video is exactly what I wanted; so helpful. Thank you! Also, YES the back is so hard to not mess up. I always end up turning it to the side and not realizing what went wrong lol. You would think it would be obvious. :)

This was hands down the most helpful wave/curl tutorial I have seen and please believe me, I've watched them all. This time, I got it and do you know what did it fur ne? Love the way you teach this. I’ve tried it and it works great. But after I sleep on it my hair is a mess. So sadly I have to either start over or just wash my hair. How do you protect your curls when you sleep? I use a silk pillowcase but that doesn’t seem to help
Using a silk pillow case is also what works for me but I also don't move much when I sleep. I've had some cases where I woke up and my hair was messy but I tend to just touch up my curls if I feel they need it the next day!

How long do you hold the hair in the tools? How many seconds? Please don't say it's different every time, sure I know it, but how many seconds for the curls in this video.
It depends on how hot your tool is set to and your hair type. I usually keep my tools around 310-320 and move through quickly for a looser curl. You would want to leave in longer for a tighter curl. If your tool was set at a higher temp, you would want to move through the hair faster, too.

What is the difference between the curling "wand' and a traditional curling iron? Does the wand work better than the traditional curling iron because of the clamp that holds the hair on traditional iron?
A wand doesn't have the clasp on it and you can create a rope wrap. You could totally use a traditional curling like a wand - just keep the clasp down and wrap the hair (:
