The Sheikah's Role in Tears of the Kingdom (Zelda Speculation)

- The sheikah played a huge role in Breath of the Wild, they created the divine beasts and the shrines that were used as trials for the hero and were one of the main reasons why the hero of the wilds actually won the battle against the calamity after failing 100 years ago. It can't be understated HOW much of a part to play the sheikah had in Breath of the Wild's story. But us not seeing anything in Tears of the Kingdom that shows us that the sheikah might be playing as large a role is interesting. We've not seen Purah, Robbie, Paya or Impa... Or any sheikah technology up until this point barring some smaller bits. So today I wanted to look at what kinda part the sheikah could play in Breath of the Wild's Sequels (Tears of the Kingdom's TOTK's), story and the gameplay itself. Hope you enjoy!

I'm guessing the Hyruleans just destroyed all of the guardians and divine beasts after the defeat of Ganon, to prevent such a devastating event like the great calamity from happening again
I really hope the Sheikah have some sort of cool storyline in TOTK. I don't want it being a MASSIVE part of the main story as BOTW did that. But I really hope there is something cool in store in this game, gonna be hype regardless!

I think it's a little messed up the sheikah had 100+ "shrines" but when the hero fell they didnt use his sheikah slate to activate the towers and shrines to use the shrines as bunkers when most shrines are the size of small towns
Physically, it doesn't make sense to have the wire coil unwind while going down. The wire would clump up on the platform when going down.

The building materials are confirmed to be from Bolson construction at the gameplay demo
I don’t see why Bolson and co couldn’t have helped out the sheikah with their testing, especially since those new giant towers are sheikah-built too, I can imagine them building those towers with the sheikah :))

I’m a bit worried for impa and Robbie since there seems to be a time skip since Tulin and riju look older but I bet they’re both still kicking! As for where all the sheikah tech went, I have no idea honestly. I think it probably just served it’s purpose and was torn down.
I'm hoping the Sheikah will be more central in that they have more of a war with the Yiga. I'm also hoping to see more of their past with other games, like maybe there could be an echo of Impa with all this time stuff (or maybe Sheik might make a reappearance if Zelda gets inspired by one of her predecessors).
Also since you mentioned the shrines have the underground in the last game to have room for these trials, I'm really starting to wonder if Link will be taken to another realm (similar to his Trial of the Master Sword from BotW DLC) so they can justify the space for Link to do trials in. Ever since I heard those arches could be gateways I want to believe that's true.

I think the Zonai are just a name given by contemporary people to the ancient Shiekah, and so much time has passed that nobody remembers.
Both cultures specialized in high technology and, apparently, time travel. Prolly the same people, just 10,000+ years apart.

I’ve really enjoyed the speculation and and trailer analysis videos. This one is awesome too. Unfortunately, recently there’s been a lot of game play footage so I’ve had to unsubscribe from those big channels to not spoil any more gameplay.

That is a great idea, might even be the reason for the symbol seen on the back of links shield too
I think that the Sheikah could offer Link some additional weapons and armour kind of like how Robbie did in BOTW but the weapons and armour have been developed a lot more since that game so that Link will be able to use them when fighting Ganondorf

The shiekah are definitely gonna play a huge role in TotK, who know Paya could be a tear wielder
Regarding the "elevator + guardian arms" area, I think they take place in the new towers, and it wouldn't surprise me if those l they lead to an underground area - maybe with a shrine vibe - and maybe the guardian arms strip link of some (or all?) of his armor, or maybe strip him of everything but then give him limited equipment to complete the underground area with to add an element of difficulty.
I'm probably wrong, but then again, I didn't say I believe it to be that way, its just a speculative idea.
Yeh speculation always has the chance to be wrong but that’s what makes it fun…
