So you should sleep until 3AM, wake up, start queueing. At this point other players are tired but you are still fit --> +25

The problem about that is that your tired teammates will make more mistakes aswell and as showed in the Video, wont think about the consequences in running down mid and feeding calories to the enemy mid laner.

Awesome video and pretty accurate. The reason 1 is the main reason ive lost 500-600 mmr in one or two days, mmr that took me 3-4 weeks to gain. STOP PLAYING WHEN YOU ARE IN A LOSING STREAK. Thats the best advice you can give to people in order to grind mmr.

I live in Finland and from experience i've learned that queuing after 2am is the best time to do so because most of the russians are already sleeping and not ruining your games!

We have a similar problem, Finns and Swedes like to play on the Russian server because they have better ping on it than on Eu west/easy. So do not whine about "ruining russians". Also if you 5k+ doesnt matter german, french or russians teammates

You worry about all these outside factors and think others ruin your games, instead of focusing on ur own mistakes u make in those games. That would actually make you a better player over time, thus leading to you climbing regardless of shitty games like that

I have to say, for a long time I have been observing my progress and the progress of others, all the while taking many things into consideration, and the four out of five reasons you listed were also found in the cases I looked into, very well said, you just earned a subscriber.
I do hope that you also cover the small things that matter too, such as:
Is your gaming space comfortable? Can you move freely? Is the room temperature alright? Are the screen and keyboard at a desired level?
Will phone calls and other unplanned occurances bother you? Or can someone else take care of them?
Where is your PC located? Will guests affect your performance if your PC is nearby?
They seem like small things, but they affect you nonetheless.

I need an advice of how to deal with randomers in Ranked All Pick. I am constantly getting people that random in ranked, and they do not understand point and importance of picks. If you are being quiet about it, you just lose games cause of, for example, randoming 4th pick of your core for mid. If you talk about it, you are being marked as toxic, tryhard or just snowball more randoming just because of spite of what you are saying. It's vicious circle and it made me stop playing ranked for almost one year now.

Be calm. Do think about each and everything you do. Think ahead. Think about what your teammates are gonna do. It‘s more important that you know where everyone is than having perfect mechanics. I played at 3k for years because I was in tunnel vision without noticing and I was over ambitious. Now I play with 5ks, sometimes even 8ks. It‘s not as hard as you might think. Sure, mechanics get better, but the bigger part is decision making and awareness

I have won a lot lately, and climbed 400 mmr. I mostly play support, its was im best at, and I win more offen playing this role. In this lvl of mmr, if im not the support, nobody will play that, atleast not correctly :P

    About scheduling:
In college, my best friend and I used to do the afternoon/evening shift, so we stayed up late playing DotA 1 and slept all morning. We also played during the weekends, of course. To be fair, DotA was at its best, and at its most enjoyable, during midnight to 5 AM. No kids, and mostly smart players. But the weekends... Oh God. You couldn't play support on weekends. People would ignore your ward placement, would never gank, would farm when we needed to push - horrible stuff, even back then.
What I'm trying to say is: if you ignore the _normie_ hours, you'll likely find better team-mates _and_ better opponents. If you are good in that kind of scenario (with better players around and in front of you), and have the time, the schedule and/or the willingness to improve your MMR, I'd recommend playing at the late night hours, on non-summer weekdays.
And yes, the guy I played with is still my best friend. And yes, we both made it through college. We both had to repeat a few years though. Fucking DotA :D

  • @edictzero
    @edictzero 7 років тому

s4 has said that if you lose 1 solo q game you should just quit queuing for a while. This sounds tough but since I have done this it has raised my mmr. Take a break, play another game, play a hero you want to get good at in unranked. This allows time to "untilt" and you also think about what you did wrong in the game you just lost.
    I'd also add:
don't play while hungry, especially if you're waking up and playing
don't jungle cores and ask your team to please not jungle
casually flame your opponents, like if you notice they have a walking courier at 10 min say "nice support you have over there guys" or something. Bonus points if you find one guy who is really mad already and kind of take his side
don't ever play dota to blow off steam. Play a shooter or sport game or something when you get home from work/school or if you are feeling like you are having a bad day.

2nd point is very valid, especially living in east but quing for eu servers in the mornings is total nightmare, 90% lose chance, insane amount of toxicity, I notice if I play in the morning I usually lose 3-4 games in a row (my morning time is about 3-5 am in europe)

I would say that it's better to play a party matchmaking with 2,3 friends than play with random strangers, since you know already what at least 2, 3 teammates play like, you can communicate better. But your video was pointed towards solo matchmaking, fair points I would say. The most important, from personal experience, would be to relax and try to not get tilted very easily. I know it's easier said than done, but it goes a long way if you try to stay calm and focus on the game and what needs to be done. Remember that most of us are not pro players and never will be, so take it easy, if you see you're on a 3, 4 match losing streak, take a break, play other stuff or do something else. Heck, even s4 said that after 5, 6 matches, even if he won them all, he takes break.

Hey im a psychology student and just wanted to point out something. Partial sleep deprevation does inhibit our ability to perform simple tasks but research has found complex tasks are relatively unaffected by partial sleep deprevation. However saying that, it is hard to divide attention while deprived. So either way it does effect dota 2 performance.

Do not play at 3:00 it's the dark hour of Dota, the things I've seen there are unspeakable. The pick phase info it great I hope more people watch and learn.

    7:43, nope. Chances are decreasing, 2 in row is 1/2 * 1/2, 3 is 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2, so 11 in row is (1/2)^11 it is really low chance.

I always queue past midnight since people actually try their hardest to win. I mean why would they stay at past midnight only to troll games and play like it doesn't matter to them? Compared to my usual morning or 8 PM schedule where retards are just playing for "fun" , all the games I played where actually competitive and a fun experience win or lose since everybody actually played their best.

I usually play ability draft only in the late evening and at night
played at seven in the morning once ---> people picked the strangest skills
      eg: Thirst as 8th pick

When I queue past midnight I end up with a 4 man non-english speaking russian team, so I agree with Andrew on this one

Anyone struggling with the first point, look up videos about what arbitrary end points are. Once you've realized they're there, it's easier to work around them or from applying them to your habits. I made the rule that I quit for the day once I've lost two games in a row... it won't get any better after that, anyway.

most of em are true...I just went home from work for a full month and spamming solo queue 2 weeks ago ... the results are all red in 1 week... then I refreshed myself by playing 2-3 pub which all green, then party queue like 2times which all green, and then spam solo queue again and yeah only 1 red this week.
thou yeah even if my MMR a bit low, the point I try to make is to always keep stamina and health 1st and try to play other mode/queue or maybe another game to refresh the stress.
edit: oh waw i just went and checked the pvgna guide thingy, cool stuff there xD
