In Germany this is known as 'Zwiebelkuchen'. I've made it many times and it's delicious! It's the predecessor to the Frech 'quiche'. I use a standard pie crust, bacon, and a custard of eggs and sour cream. Wunderbar!
Love the recipe but I gotta say I was wincing while you were mispronouncing Vidalia! Those onions are named after the town in Georgia where they come from and its pronounced "vy-dale-yuh"! Vidalia is about 45 minutes from me and they love their onions, they have a big festival for them every year!
