    All Rubin did was create a show to invite people whose views are continuously misrepresented by progressives. He lets the guests speak and doesn't attempt to distort their views. Its simplicity is brilliant and I hope it yields great results.

      James B sounds like you are a fundamentalist Christian. Sure, gay guys can force themselves into a straight lifestyle behind guilt, usually religious guilt. But that doesn't make them straight. Eventually they go back to homosexuality or kill themselves.

    • @hal900x
      @hal900x 6 років тому

      James, either you are making up all these ex-gay friends ("I have tons of black friends, I swear!") or you are part of some really creepy subculture; if not religion that maybe something even darker. Gay men have specific physical characteristics of the brain that differ from straight men and have more in common with women in certain areas, such as how blood flows to the Amygdala in response to stimuli. You cannot simply rewrite your brain structure overnight. Every study that has been done on "conversion" has shown it to be a lie. I don't know why you would hang on to your anecdotal subjective personal experiences so tightly when the science, and the overwhelming majority of gay men's experiences show the opposite.

Republicans, far more than Democrats, have a nasty habit lately of only catering to their most extreme members...it's destroyed the party's philosophy, and left Democrats to pick up the pieces (while still pretending to be liberal...lol). Too bad they suck at politics, so obsessed with big donors, they've lost almost 3/4th of the state legislatures chasing after federal power.

These are the people that are independent thinkers and vote on who shared their principles rather than sticking with their party. These are the people that voted in Obama, but had the sense to vote trump over Clinton.

    I've always been pretty far right of center. What I know of the right is that they've always been tolerant of the left and defended everyone's right to free speech. I have never felt that way of the left. The lefties I have known are always arguing and down right militant about their beliefs. In the last couple years, the left is no longer for free speech and down right violent. This has resulted in me not even wanting to associate with quite a few of my former leftist friends. They are no longer my friends and I don't miss them. Frankly, most of them are so ignorant that it would be impossible to talk with them even if they DID let me speak. I see this "throw-my-hands-up" mentality more and more as we have become what many consider irreconcilably divided. I think our country is beyond saving and I see bloody civil war in the not so distant future. I hope I'm wrong.

    • @bassman_0074
      @bassman_0074 6 років тому

      George Mallory same. I don’t see any reason why this growing political divide will stop. Trump wasn’t a fluke. He’s part of a nationalistic streak that’s hitting the whole world especially the west. I don’t see any sign of this stopping. There’s a total rejection of leftist values and the response over seas and here has been to push further to the left. The divide is so bad that secession is now touted as a viable alternative to federal law in California, Catalonia, northern Italy, and Scotland. All it takes is for one state to set the ball rolling and you’ll have a war.

      Seun Osewa, precisely. The last time I checked, nobody has been jailed for their actions, correct? Their right to do it has been protected. They have been allowed to do it repeatedly and still play the game and receive their paychecks without receiving fines, correct? Having a right to do something is not the same as the right to receive unfettered approval. I have a right to bear arms, despite lots of liberal disapproval. My right to carry a weapon doesn't imply I have the right for everybody to like it. Many stopped going to games or watching them, which is THEIR right. The beauty of our system is that we haven't gone to war over expressing our opinions. It's when our rights are actually denied that the trouble starts. "Tolerant" doesn't mean approval.

      Social conservatives were trying to censor every form of media in the 80's and 90's. I think they just gave up when the Internet came along because that blew the floodgates open and people no longer got all their media through brick-and-mortar marketplaces that could be pressured into censorship, so they lost all their power.

      And if conservatives change their viewpoint overtime to fascism, does that mean they are liberal? What is liberal is liberal what is socialism is socialism, facts don't change overtime.

    • @joonhwanhuh
      @joonhwanhuh 6 років тому

      C.C. Neal So we can both agree that the political spectrum does not change, and that thr society is moving more to the left of the spectrum am I right? Now I believe there are some common grounds where liberals and conservatives can meet at an agreement. This is an area between liberalism and conservatism, the sweet spot for freedom. And the founders of the US tried to make sure we don't diverge from this sweet spot through the constitiution. You just cant keep moving your viewpoints to the left and still expect to be liberal. The fact is the democrats are moving towards socialism while the republicans are becoming more liberal.

    • @joonhwanhuh
      @joonhwanhuh 6 років тому

      C.C. Neal I believe it is very dangerous to suggest that the sweet spot can be moved around. When people are given lots of freedom, some become fearful because freedom is unpredictable while having order makes life easier with fewer tough choices to make. People in general want to get rid of the unpredictable because it can turn into chaos. Socialism puts more order into the soceity, but that is a shift to the left and the society becomes much more vulnerable to communism.

    • @joonhwanhuh
      @joonhwanhuh 6 років тому

      I understand that the way I worded may have implied communism as that of Soviet Union. However, my view is that there no place for freedom in any kind of communism. The US is built on the belief of freedom and I believe freedom is one of the reason that made this county so successful. And now you just brought in another point with the slavery issue. The left (republicans back then), fought for social injustice and required a bigger government to do so. Which was good. So I think we can both agree that, in case of social injustice, government intervention is needed. And I do agree there is still social injustice against the blacks (but not all blacks) here in America. However, I hope that you also understand the importance of freedom that made this country successful and there is great vulnerability of bigger governments becoming corrupt, regardless of which party holds power.

    I was wondering how, in my youth, I considered myself an Independent Liberal, but somehow found myself on the Moderate Right now that i'm Older. Live and let live has always been one of my words to live by. Now understanding how the Left has gone Waaay Left, they lost the Moderates, and even the former Liberals that now find themselves aligned with the Conservative Right. Most American's want to be left alone, Small Govt. and the right to do what they want for themselves and their businesses. Makes perfect sense to me. Keep up the good work Democrats, keep going Left into oblivion. You are now so far left, the only company you have are the Communists and Socialists. The true Liberals, the Moderates, and the Conservatives are now sitting on the sunny side of the lawn shaking their heads at your Idiocracy.

    David Rubin is what the late NYC Mayor Ed Koch called " a liberal with sense." That is he's a classic liberal. He believes in freedom. As he pointed out he has more in common with a libertarian than he does with most contemporary "progressives." Will I agree with him one hundred percent of the time? probably not. But I could agree with him seventy to eighty percent of the time. And that is a good thing. It gives people a basis to work together.

      Aha, we have discovered the Holy Grail of what should be obvious. Some people, unlike you my friend, act as if it wasn't a founding principle of our constitution that we have freedom of belief in this country (both religious and political) and therefore that the majority (mostly urban) must hang/burn/oppress/re-educate/talk down to people who disagree with them. Live and let live. What an American concept. We come together over the pragmatic issues like economics and security, but otherwise are kind enough to let each other be human and do our own thing.

      Would you be in favour of a gas station 100 miles from the nearest alternative run by a Muslim refusing to serve a Christian customer?

    • @clearday9525
      @clearday9525 5 років тому

      Well, Richard, I think if a Christian asked a Muslim baker to bake a cake with "Jesus died on the cross for our sins", a lot of people would suddenly adopt the opposite view and say the Muslim should be allowed to refuse. They'd probably point out that the Muslim shouldn't be forced to go against his belief that it was Judas who died on the cross, notJesus. They might even say the Christian was trying to provoke or harass the Muslim by asking for such wording, knowing the Muslim's different beliefs. But one thing you can be sure of, they wouldn't be on the side of the Christian, because that's just not PC in this society.
      Personally, I think both bakers should be allowed to refuse to put wording on a cake that goes against their convictions, as long as they are not refusing to serve anything at all to the customer.
      Otherwise, to be fair, we would have to allow a m to f transgender to take a lesbian feminist baker to court for not baking a cake in support of their cause. (For those who may not know, there is an ongoing row between transgenders and lesbian feminist activists, with transgender activists calling lesbian feminists Terfs (Trans exclusionary radical feminists).

    • @rickelmonoggin
      @rickelmonoggin 5 років тому

      But they weren't asking for that. They were asking for a normal cake. If you went into a bakery and asked for a standard cake and were refused on the basis of who you were, I think you'd be pissed.

      @trentwaybourn2166 5 років тому

      Richard if you are referring to the Colorado baker, you are misinformed. The couple was asking for a wedding cake, which goes against the baker's beliefs. The baker had no problem selling any other cake, which he offered, so he didn't refuse service. He refused a customized or specialty cake that went against his faith.

And personally, I don't see Conservatism as a four letter word the way the Left does. I'm quite content with being Conservative. I'm still for gay rights, I'm pro choice (but anti abortion), and not religious at all (although I still appreciate mythology and religious literature). But I also want to preserve the traditional family structure and don't want fatherhood to become extinct. And most importantly, I'm for free speech and the basic principle of "Live and Let Live".

I was blond with pale blue eyes. I knew it made them uncomfortable but felt that if we got to accept you, you got to accept us. In 2003, I became a target of SJW after voicing support for immigration control. After 10 years of persistent surveillance and malicious harassment, I know the feeling of no escape and the longing for psychological refuge. I still love Brent's but wound't go there everyday and would probably order take out. If there were certain days of the week that were Jewish only, I'd be cool with that.
