  • St Andrews, Scotland. In this video I'll show how the lobsters live, where to find them, and how it feels to freedive in the kelp forests and rocky reefs. We see how many lobsters I can spot in a 45min snorkelling session.
I didnt catch any in this video - just show them in their natural habitat and explained a few facts about these magnificent beasts.

Great video Tom. I work for the Lobster Hatchery down in North Berwick, if you want to come and visit and do a wee dive releasing juveniles let me know. I recently sent a message to you on instagram, probably in your requests folder, if you want to organise something feel free to message there, cheers!

Interested in names or where you’d recommend to look for the gear you’re wearing Tom, watching your vids I’m keen to try this.

I usually buy from Scubastore online. They have a good freedive range. The suit is an open cell apnea suit. Mares top and Salvimar trousers with pisette. I have carbon fibre fins from Leaderfins. Maybe I should make a video about it as I get asked a lot.

Really good video Tom! I don't see anywhere near that many lobsters where I dive! I know you didn't see any fish but have you see wolfish up there before? I know St.Abbs is a hot spot for them and thats not far away?

Cheers Ryan. Never seen a wolffish outside of St Abbs - that place is pretty special. The wrasse and lumpsuckers are very scarce this year - I hope it’s not because the salmon industry has caught them for use as cleaner fish. I fear that may be the case.

Thanks Sam. This was Saturday morning. Couple days ago. That wee bay has been in the lee of the wind lately so I’ve got a few dives in.

Any Sandy patches near the rocks. The caravan end of East sands is decent

Are they common? Had a dive and didnt see any might be me

I’m not sure. In my experience they come and go. Sometimes there are lots and other times not. It don’t usually go looking for them especially.
Generally there are very few fish around this year..

I had a dive with a friend there Friday he said he may have seen some bass

I saw bass once last year but that’s it. I usually have my head in the kelp looking for lobsters though!
