They are gears whose teeth are straight and not in a curved shape like A Normal gear. This gives the gearbox to handle heavy Stress and Long term usage (on like 24h race)

I’ve actually driven on that road. It gets worse, most rental companies don’t allow you to drive on that part of the road because it’s so dangerous and the bad road can damage the car if you aren’t careful

I believe that road in the end is the “road to Hana” or something similar. We went there and took a Hyundai Accent on that road. At some points it was really bad but the accent pulled through! Good little car! We even bottomed the thing out once or teice
