You can't utilize the point of sale federal tax credit in 2024 on any Tesla model purchased in January 2024 currently, even though there are 3 x Tesla car models that do qualify for the credit (out of 10 total car models). Tesla was late to implement the point of sale process, so nobody has been able to prove that works for a Tesla vehicle as of yet (for a vehicle purchased in 2024 at a delivery center on delivery pickup day, as they don't have the process in place there). You can't get the credit on your 2025 taxes if you purchase a Tesla in 2024 without doing the point of sale method, hence this is a weird situation right now (for the first week of January 2024 delivery dates).
How does the dealer transfer of credit work? What is the Tesla dealer? I've never heard an explanation that makes sense regarding this. Can one still get $7,500 off the price if they don't have that amount of federal tax liability?
I’m thinking of getting an M3 used after my wife got a new ‘23 RWD. I’m trying to get a ‘22 RWD with the LFP battery for under 25k to qualify for the $4k credit. I found some that are around 50k miles coming off rental fleet but it’s gonna be tough finding them in nice condition with a scrupulous dealer. LFP degrades slower and is affected more by age than driving miles. So hopefully fingers crossed I can find something I can use for commuting and occasional rideshare driving.

The app is asking me, "Do you want Tesla to submit this order to the IRS so tou may claim it on next year tax return? Yes or No?" I am not sure if I say yes I will get the credit at point of sale or next year when I file. I cannot get anyone from Tesla to respond to my inquiries. Do you have a contact with Tesla. I will be happy to send you screenshots of the app so you can make a video.
You are not actually getting that deduction off the purchase price. You will only get that credit when you file your tax return (assuming your income does not exceed the IRS threshold).
I ordered a MYP today, and nothing shows up having anything to do with the 7500 credit on the order confirmation or checkout page, or in the order page in my tesla account. There is a section in the pre-delivery checklist called "apply for incentives", and it asks if I want to enroll in the federal 30d clean vehicle credit "Do you want Tesla to submit this order to the IRS so that you may claim it on next year's tax return?". To me this does not sound like the POS credit, so I will contact the tesla advisor tomorrow to try to determine if they will actually be setup properly by delivery date (later this week). If they are dragging feet on the POS format I will probably reject the delivery (which will be sad because the inventory discount I got was nice). I'll try to remember to update you later this week, if it is not publically made clear by then.

By dropping the prices as he has the previous buyers that took out a loan has been shafted because they’re upside down on the vehicle now and the vehicle isn’t worth the loan amount which is why you can buy one used on someone’s lot for a steal now. Also Chris stopping telling the ELON lie of 330 miles on a single charge because you know that’s not true. You’re lucky to get 250-270 on a single charge and thats without the heat or air conditioning on and driving 45-55 miles and hour on the highway.

Guess where the incentives come from - it’s taxpayer money. You have already paid many times over that money to Uncle Sam. The Model Y for 42k$ is still overpriced (including incentives), especially considering someone single who has income $150k or less to qualify for those incentives.

Transfer it to your llc for 2025 and you have 3 years where you can deduct the rest.
