Do you have a preference on brushes for watercolor? The one you are using looks wonderful. I love how it creates nice leaf and feather shapes with a single stroke. I'm not thrilled with a lot of the watercolor brushes i've been using.
I know what you mean brushes are so important! I love, love, love the brush that I was using in the video and I have a name and a link to it in the video description. It's a synthetic squirrel brush but the quality (and the price) are even better that the real stuff :) it holds lots of water and comes to a very good point. Here are the links again: DaVinci Casaneo Round Quill - in the video I use size 0 (they are quite large) Canada - amzn.to/3oZDJT1 UK - amzn.to/3qYex0N USA - amzn.to/2JYOLcl
@@LeilaAtaya I bought the da Vinci brushes you recommended. I can’t wait to try! Thank you Leila! They look like they have a nice shape and barrel to hold plenty of water!
Wonderful video. I personally like the first parrot because I like the looser type of painting style but I am going to challenge myself to do both for the practice and invariable learning that will occur. Thank you your voice is always a pleasure to listen to.👩🏻🎨
Thank you :) You can combine the two techniques as well. First go with the looser washes and after it dries go for the tighter painting style with more control & details. Watercolour is so versatile !! 💗
Very nice paintings. I'd have to say the second one is my favorite of the two. It is so sharp for a watercolor, that it almost looks like a photograph. Great work.
Thank you for taking the time to show two techniques with painting using watercolour. I love both paintings. For me the first would be more challenging because it would force me to let go of control.
Thank you for watching! :) I know what you mean, the best way to ease into the free/loose painting is to just do some mindless exercises. Don't set any subject matter just take some paper and let the colours run into each other, play with them. It's usually the expectation of the finished painting that tightens everything up. You will have so much fun in the process as well 😆💗
That's the wonderful quality of watercolour. It can be really free flowing and create beautiful organic shapes but you can create a very high level of detail with it as well. There is even a more controlled /detailed style - glazing. I might do a video on that at some stage too.
I have missed you and your videos! I am trying Holbein watercolors lately. Very interesting how different all of the brands can be. I like them so far. Anyway, I hope all is well. Sending love and positive vibes from Pennsylvania, USA. ❤️
Yes they sure are different and I also find that some colours that may have the same name and even the same pigments actually look and perform differently in different brands. All the best for your practice! 💗😀
Colour theory is a huge subject and to add to that each artist has their own preference for what effects they are trying to achieve. If you are interested I have a number of videos on colour theory and colour combinations on Patreon . They range from beginner to intermediate level. It’s just to deep to go into on UA-cam.
Hey there Leila. Hope your well. Got one for you to check out. Put in Wow Art. Silhouette. Then now and forever. You should give that one a shot. I was rea impressed with the way it was done. I reckon you could nail it. I was thinking you might like to do that one . It looks easy but it requires alot of different techniques that you possess. I would love to see you paint that one. Just an idea. Definitely check it out. Tell us what you think. Thanks Leonard.
Leila. Give that picture 2 me then. I want it. I know iam not on patreon. I'll put up wind of change. You tube. If that's what it takes. Please can I have that picture. I love u. Tell me to get lost. Pleeese

Glad you liked it! Thank you !
Hello! Beautiful video, good work! Keep it up!
Thank you
The second one is amazing. It's rare to see such fine detail with watercolour. It reminds me of an Audubon painting.
