I love your minimalist setups even though I am not a glamper or into decorating. Your ideas are the simple solutions I need for fast and efficient, even a comfortable camping experience. Just turn off the interior lights switch not to drain the battery when rear hatch is open for extended periods of time. If the switch doesn't work or some such ... the carabiner is a fantastic idea.
turning off the light switch doesn't work, the vehicles computers and dash will still eat up that battery, granted a bit more slower, but you're still gonna have a dead car by the end of it
@@Nzzertral Guess my vehicle different. After 2 mins with one door, multiple doors, hatch, whatever open ... the lights go off and stay off. That's with the switch on. With switch off, the lights never come on no matter that I open anything.
@@jeepfvr probably just depends on the year. I have a 2012 subaru outback and it will and has absolutely died when having the back open. Even when I turned the lights off I thought it would be safe because that is a logical conclusion. you're not exactly wrong for assuming so but not every model will adheres to the same rules and designs

Fantastic tips thank you, i have been looking at a way round my interior lights staying on, I can turn off all except the safety door lights on the 2 front doors, so I will most definitely be trying the carabiner in the boot latch :)

Some great tips, but I am Somewhat confused about the trunk comment. If you turn off the car, that should be enough in regards to not draining the battery. Unless you need the lights of the car. Am I missing something here? Handy tip though, will do this hack.

A vehicle's battery does drain down if the key is off or out & the rear door or even the window is up in the back. I fool mine with a small carabiner in the latch. ***Also, for anyone living in a vehicle or doing a lot of car camping, I'd highly suggest investing in a deep cycle battery for your rig; not just a standard starting battery.
