I once saw Harry at Snoqualmie Falls, Washington. It was 1994 and I was with my sister visiting, I saw him at a like 30 feet away and I took a double look. We got eye contact and I immediately thought of how he was on vacation and probably trying to get away so I just gave him a nod and a smile and he did the same. I loved night court and IT. Rip Harry

So many years later, I think it’s safe now to reveal that the gentleman on Harry’s left who lent him one of the fives is a wonderful magician and magic historian named Mike Caveney. They started together in the Long Beach Mystics and later in the Magic Castle Juniors as teens. I can tell you Mike has nothing to do with the trick. He’s just there so Harry can abuse him without risking getting a punch in the face. The jokes had to work - this was being taped for TV.

I love how he once mentioned (and made no secret of) that he had once been a street hustler. He almost sounded proud of it. But there was no malice, no sense of derision toward the people he scammed. He was a fun-loving goof-ball who just loved the absurdity of all things. Rest in Peace Harry...you earned it. ^_^

I just was reading these comments and realized that we have lost Harry I'm truly sadden he was a very funny and a great magician, He died back in 2018 of the flu, I'm just finding this out, I saw a comment that someone had left that said they saw him at Snoqualmie falls wa. He had move to Washington he lived in Issaquah WA. I ran into him a a professional magic shop in Seattle called Micky Hades he gave me the handcuffs he used in this clip and on Saturday Night Live I will always remember how nice he was to me I can't believe I'm just hearing about his death now. Harry I have been a fan of yours since the night I fist saw you on Carson. Then SNL , night court, and a occasional TV special. Not too long ago I watched a comedian joke about "it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on" as an obvious reference to sex that every kid knew growing up but didn't automatically think "this guy's talking about sex 😳". Harry might have just(30+ yrs ago) one upped that with "you ever have this much fun without having to take a shower after" 😂😂 I wish I had gone to see him live when I had the chance. Most of his jokes go over peoples heads because he doesn't give you much time to process them, but they are great for the internet. So many obvious jokes, but so many subtle jokes.

I was born and raised in the PNW. Going into Seattle we always went to the wharf and saw the flying fish. Dad and I always went in the magic shop around the corner and remember seeing Harrys picture of him and the owner hanging on the wall. I went and showed my girlfriend - wife now - the steps we always took down there and showed her the magic shop and specifically pointed at the pic of Harry and the owner... we were the only ones in the shop, as it was closing time... and we talked to the owner a bit and told him the story.. he smiled and yelled for Harry to come out, he did... he was in town and stopping by to see his old friend. Shook his hand introduced him to my girlfriend and thanked him for the laughs on the show.. he said what about the magic?? I said, you do magic?? the shop owner started to laugh and said see never thought you were good at it... Harry laughed and said I like you kid.. we wished him a good night... Harry was an amazing guy... and amazing at magic.

I saw this on Showtime in 86. Shortly thereafter me and a few buddies went to NYC to see the city. We came across a guy and his accomplices scamming the crowd with the 3-card Monte game. He played a hand that was winnable for all to see, and let a lady win, undoubtedly his girlfriend. I remembered what Harry said at the end of this show with his oversized card trick, so I was just observing and taking it all in.
But when the local hustler played the next hand, I was shocked to see two of my buddies stumpeing down $20 each which of course they lost. They learned the hard way.
