  • www.ted.com Like your uncle at a family party, the rumpled Swedish doctor Lennart Green says, "Pick a card, any card." But what he does with those cards is pure magic -- flabbergasting, lightning-fast, how-does-he-do-it? magic.

      The false illusion of sloppiness and the slow lumbering style he presents add an element of surprise for the viewer when the payoff of a trick comes that somebody using a standard slick polished approach doesn't get. At the same time though his style also creates a certain level of awkwardness and leaves a lot of the audience unaware he's even done a trick some of the time.

    • @kingairA100
      @kingairA100 4 роки тому +19

      Very well put. And, for all of you magicians out there, you realize that Lennart is a genius - a veritable god among conjurers. He is really the complete package as to what a magician should aspire to be: a hard worker, a great routine creator, technically excellent, very humorous in a subtle way, great interactions with the audience, flexible in the heat of battle. Long ago, he asked himself, “How can I make people want to see/care about what I do with a deck of cards?” He then set about to create precisely that and, obviously, succeeded. In short, a great entertainer. In my opinion, this is the most entertaining magical clip on UA-cam.

    I had the pleasure of seeing Lennart in person in the company of other top magicians, and he was definitely who everyone else was talking about. He's the rare magician that developed all his own original techniques. Other magicians are now performing the trick where he deals cards and they vanish when they hit the table, but when I first saw it, I just about lost it. That really felt like magic. I can understand sort of how it is done, but what a mind to have thought of doing that in the first place.

      "Why are so many magicians social misfits who HAVE to react to any girl on a magic video?" You dug this one comment about the girl from reply to another comment among hundreds of comments where one mentions she looks nice, and you take that to mean **many** magicians are social misfits. For someone that seemingly tries to preach message of treating everyone as person regardless of their characteristics, you seem to have ironically just stereotyped a huge bunch of people in your search for social justice.
      "No wonder so few of us are into magic!" As someone that is somewhat interested in gender gaps, some fields being hugely male-oriented is a puzzle, but I really can't see you making shallow judgemental comments like this helping in figuring that puzzle out or improving the world otherwise :p
