This just explains why he's a legend. There's many hot new players who play very well with unique swings but they wouldn't reach Tiger's status since Tiger's swing is just perfection.
What I find impressive is that during the downswing 0:14, his body is rotating back, and he trained himself to slow down his rotation so that his head would be behind the ball at impact, and then speed it up again. Idk why that sticks out to me, but it's amazing everything in his swing is complementing the other.
he is keeping his head back so he can clear his hips so he can hit the ball properly. if your head goes forward, you can't clear your hips and you wont hit the ball properly.
It is a good observation on your part, because if his head moves ahead of the ball it will reduce distance. Weight distribution is everything; especially in a drive. I think the hardest aspect to the game is chipping, second to that is driving the ball.
basically if you hit the brake on rotation and the hand, club's head would accelerate quicker due to centripetal force. once the club head is past the ball, it will start pulling arms forward, so if you've spent all your effort up to the braking point, and let the body just follow, it will naturally do a follow thru. you can see his leading side just kinda stops as if there's an invisible wall
@@dp1927 looks like its creating a sling shot effect from the ground forces into his torso, but released into his arm as he stops his torso rotating. the sequencing is amazing.
I wish I could translate what you are saying ,into my swing. Where does he hit the breaks, and with what ? Arms, shoulder, hands, hips ? Thank you for any help, I am losing tons of yards !
Agreed! I'm really tired of what I'm seeing too much of lately on UA-cam where guys are finishing with low arms and hands, the shaft is close to parallel to the ground, and they are artificially holding off (restricting) the wrist follow-through. It's a fad that I can't wait to see go away. Strangely it almost makes me angry when I see it. One thing I wish Tiger would do (maybe he does now, I haven't kept up) is allow more right leg straightening on the backswing. Not a locked hyper-extended right knee by any means but this whole "creating tension between the hips and shoulders" thing IMO is responsible for far too many injuries (including Tiger's) and it does not create power. Allow free flowing space for the shoulders to turn on a good plane and then swing away with confidence and freedom and a great slightly inside plane on the way down.
If anyone is serious about taking issue with them being different swing they need to chill. They don't claim they are the same. It isn't instructional, it isnt a tournament, it doesn't matter. It is a chance to see tiger's swing (which to the naked eye is always the same) in slow motion. Entertainment for entertainment's sake.
I know it's not a major criminal conspiracy, but I would at least call it sloppy and lazy and at the most call it unprofessional on Taylormade's part. If two different swings, then maybe two different types of swings? One a draw swing , the other a fade swing.
Everyone is talking about emphasizing the dill and its motions and I can see what other golfers want to change by looking at their swings by that. But I tigers swing is just purely clean. Wow
Funny how I find this "old" man version of his "old" swing still more aesthetically please than damn near everyone playing now yes even after 20 years. This includes his nearest carbon copy Scottie.
@@HenryTheBoilermaker3rdYear First of all, it would be spelled beauty. Second if your dad doesn't do anything, that's not genetics. That's laziness causing the muscles to atrophy. Which would mean his back problems come from his body not being able to support it's own weight. Tiger's swing is biomechanically flawed as proven by his blown out spine. Name 1 other great who hit really long for their day and blew out their back. Nicklaus hit a ton, no problems at Tiger's age. Palmer, same deal. Phil Mickelson. The only other swing I've seen that make me think blown out spine is Bryson. Keep in mind this was all before Tiger's leg injury in that car accident. @@poopjeans1135 nah, that's fallacious at best. First of all Jack Nicklaus had back problems for decades. Second of all it could definitely be attributed to genetics in general. Doing anything in a repetitive motion can very easily cause inflammation in the joints used.
