My favorite Keter is the horror movie shape shifter that can only be contained because it thinks 50s black and white horror movie monsters are what scare humans, and if it were to find what ACTUALLY scares the foundation it would be impossible to contain
@@fedorpavlovic the classes are based on difficulty of containment. Safe is easy to contain, Euclid is difficult, Keter is VERY hard to contain. Scp-096 is a very good example because it's a Euclid scp but if it were to escape it has the potential to destroy the world if its picture spreads
Here's my theory. Poi-3663-1 is a type green, who while playing with his friend, got a little too into it and subconsciously made him scp-3663. This also explains scp-3663's behavior when poi-3663-1 died, poi-3663-1 made him the monster and when he died the hope of unmaking him was lost.
Yep and the interaction that they had was like this "I don't want to be the tunnel monster anymore you be the tunnel monster" and the type green being a child that can reality bend and always gets it's way said something like "No I'm not the tunnel monster *shoves friend* YOU are the tunnel monster".
I honestly feel bad for this one. Who knew that an actual reality bender from years ago turned his friend into a monster made out of cardboard boxes and tape. And all that he wants to do is to stop playing and go home.
No matter what our theories are, one thing remains constant: Sometimes, s**t just happens whether we want it to or not. What started as innocent fun turned into a nightmare "The Tunnel Monster" can never recover from. These kids were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and they paid for it with one made a cardboard creature, and the other one that no longer remembers his friend. Which adds to another thing: Innocents will get hurt in such situations, as they do all the time. This is effectively a sobering reminder of "Wrong place, Wrong Time" and "Innocence doesn't guarantee a harmless life"
The friend themselves might have been an Ontokineticist and actually made this happen while simultaneously wiping their own memory of it (because it was probably pretty traumatic for both), or simply didn't tell anyone because they believed they'd get into trouble. Given that the Tunnel Monster goes nuts only on a single occasion, it might be that its reality bending friend died or was otherwise permanently incapacitated, and now it can't ever escape this condition (though another reality bender might be able to help honestly).

Fun update on 3663: he got to make some new friends when Technician Phil Deering and SCP 5056, the Mirror Monster, were visiting Site 54 during the One-Time Password stings. Once 5056 established that it was not there to infringe on 3663's turf, 3663 was happy to help protect Deering from insurgents attacking Site 54, and 'persuaded' one into returning the copy of the Password he had forced Deering to surrender earlier. All in all, a good day to be The Tunnel Monster.
Initially when reading this I always imagined the Tunnel Monster as having a child's voice, which made it more painfully obvious this was clearly a child transformed into a slave to an imaginative character for a seemingly innocent game.
I’m glad the title is now “the tunnel monster”, this scp used to be called “the adventures of a cardboard box” as some reference but that was a corny and stupid title for an scp this good and eerie.
I could tell Tunnel Monster was a kid when hearing the interview. His role was decided by someone else as part of a game. And all these years later, Tunnel Monster is mentally still a child, not knowing anything else in their life beyond that playtime. It's an incredibly sad story. The saddest part is that they are still suffering, and they aren't allowed to die.
This and the Girl and the Camera are one of my favorite SCPs ever. I'm even planning on one day finishing writing an SCP that ties in a little with this little SCP. It's such a great god damn article and piece of literature.
@@legoincplx4x5 I'm gonna guess kid number one was a phase 0 or 1 type reality bender or something of that nature? He tripped, got hurt (and probably embarrassed). His friend, who had been pretending to be the tunnel monster, breaks character to see if he's okay. The first child lashes out, and says something - maybe insists that the kid be the tunnel monster, or that he needs to play the part or else he's ruining the game. Unfortunately, as that first child doesn't understand his own nature, in doing so he rewrites reality. His friend is removed from reality (hence no one knowing who he was and the first child thinking he had been playing alone, despite security footage showing otherwise) and replaced with the tunnel monster, which is now all the second child can ever be. Once the first child eventually died of old age, the tunnel monster lashed out, becoming destructive and violent and killing his victims for the first time. Whereas before he had been harmless (perhaps because he still had hope his friend would come back and end the game), once the one who changed him was gone, he hit a breaking point and was ultimately reclassified Keter.

If POI-3663-1 died at age 79 but he was somewhere between 8 and 12 years old in 1979. Then then POI-3663-1 would've died somewhere between 2046 and 2050. So who knows how omniscient our look into the database of the foundation is or when the current documentation is actually from. Or possibly the entire timeline of the foundation gets changed regularly by some higher anomalous entity? As new entities get added to the database all the time which then turn out to have been discovered in all ranges of years. This is incredibly sad, yet fascinating. I love and hate the implication that the SCP has something scaring it into not revealing any thing about the nature of its existence nor origin. With how much of a hell it’s going through, being forced to be The Tunnel Monster, it’s extremely troubling to imagine what is forcing it to keep its own secrets, and what would happen if it were to speak about what it’s not allowed to speak about.
I don't think it's like that. I think he was the child that was pushed by the other who was probably a reality bender and unknowingly turned the kid into the this tunnel monster. I don't think anything is forcing it into anything. It's all the affects of what occurred to turn him into the tunnel monster. He was essentially put into this role and can't seem to escape it but is aware of his situation.

Safe to say POI-2 is the Tunnel Monster and it's like POI-1&2 were playing a tag like game and it was POI-2's turn to become the Tunnel Monster and I guess he's trying to "tag" someone else and it's not working. He must remain the Tunnel Monster until he can find a viable human that will "tag" to be the next tunnel monster. Unless that's what's been going on all along and his victims' spirits inhabit the Tunnel Monster once they shed their human husks. At least that's what it seems like to me
Okay, so full confession. I had this open on my phone in my back pocket, and just by some random chance when Dr Miller was about to describe what happens to someone grabbed by SCP-3663, I accidentally skipped perfectly and cleanly to the outro while my phone was in my pocket. I was stunned for a second, thinking that it was an SCP that doesn’t like or cuts off itself being decribed, hard cutting Dr.Millers speech of it to the end of a lesson without anyone being the wiser. Now actually looking at my phone I see that’s not true, but I was awe struck for a moment thinking it was.

Initially when reading this I always imagined the Tunnel Monster as having a child's voice, which made it more painfully obvious this was clearly a child transformed into a slave to an imaginative character for a seemingly innocent game.
excited to listen to this one! production value wonderful as always
I’m glad the title is now “the tunnel monster”, this scp used to be called “the adventures of a cardboard box” as some reference but that was a corny and stupid title for an scp this good and eerie.
Yeah, I remember that. Recalling, I’m pretty sure it was a Sherlock Holmes reference?
That chuckle while reading "Ohh Crap Guy", he was imagining something good and i wanna know what XD
Love your work as always, thank you based volgun
This and the Girl and the Camera are one of my favorite SCPs ever. I'm even planning on one day finishing writing an SCP that ties in a little with this little SCP. It's such a great god damn article and piece of literature.
Honestly didn't expect nothing crazy from this one, ended up shedding a manly tear😥😂
It's like a little kid's hand-made imaginary friend came to life.
I was wondering if you'd ever cover this. This one is so, so sad. It's difficult to get through.
Oh, I know this one. I feel sad already.
Tf happened to the kid?
@@legoincplx4x5 Who knows, and that just makes it all the more sad
Great work as always. Were you tempted to have a younger guest voice for the monster?

It reminds me of an adult version of that little animated character made of Amazon boxes, cardboard boi 😃
Why does it need to be kept from that other SCP?

@@afd1040 SCP-015 is a dangerous pipe network that grows. It would be difficult to separate this entity because the pipes defend themselves aggressively.
@@Mr12Relic I see
My theory is that inside of the box is a little boy named Eric from Colorado, who's also good at making movie ideas
He genuinely looks kinda adorable and endearing I can’t imagine why he’d be a keter!
Oh boy are you in for a treat… this one gets sad
Keter just means they cannot easily be contained, it has nothing to do with their level of danger.
@@portalfan15 oh god I forgot about this one…now I remember… damn man yeah this one hits hard
@@missichor3786 No. that’s Euclid. Keter is designated for anomalous objects with world/universe ending properties
he's hard to contain, the possibly of a breach is extremely high with this SCP.
This sounds like a good one BRING IT.
Respect and keep up the epic work.
Haven't listened to one of your readings in a bit, bit you are still great at them. Love the tunnel monster.
"I'm the Tunnel Monster, look at me"
Yet another amazing video dude. Vol fun has consistently made such amazing content for so long it’s criminal that people don’t take more notes from your shear level of craftsmanship with your vids and voice acting
"Ohh Crap Guy" always makes me smile.
Those midjourney images are haunting as heck. I'm calling it now. AI image creation will be the source of the first IRL Fatal Optical Cognitohazard.
Hello to everybody from the future who came to leave a reply on this comment after the first few articles reporting "Killer AI jpegs" start being published. 🤖🎨💀
That would be terrifying. Some psycho could plop it in a reply as a source, and face no consequence because of online anonymity.
I like how you struggled to say "oh crap guy" and left it in. Bravo good sir
The Tubbycustard machine come to life? Okay, let's see how this thing goes Keter.
Now thats it implied that the scp was made from a type green, how many others are? Shy guy? Old man? Could all be rogue type greens
There are several proposals reflecting this
So good I had to listen to it twice! Especially after reading some of the theories in the comments
Dr. Miller, you continue to terrify with the creepiest banality. Super good in October. When are we going to be able to buy that mug as merch? Maybe even a custom name plate?
If POI-3663-1 died at age 79 but he was somewhere between 8 and 12 years old in 1979. Then then POI-3663-1 would've died somewhere between 2046 and 2050. So who knows how omniscient our look into the database of the foundation is or when the current documentation is actually from. Or possibly the entire timeline of the foundation gets changed regularly by some higher anomalous entity? As new entities get added to the database all the time which then turn out to have been discovered in all ranges of years.
Food for thought :)

this really shows how AI generated images can be used to create cool future SCPs, or at least a visual for some
GJ Volgun, you make great SCP walkthroughs
@@razinghavoc7419 Yeah I got that, but couldn’t you hear about its pained reluctance to say what it is and where it came from? I don’t remember exactly cuz I listened to this seven months ago, but I seem to remember that when it was asked about the nature of its existence and origin, it says something like “No, please stop. I’m.. I’m the Tunnel Monster.” As if, if it were to answer the question something bad would happen. At least that’s the feeling I got. What do you think?
the giggle at "Ohh Crap Guy" made me miss oddlongdoucheboy or whatever his name was

It's a very sad one.

Little kids with latent superpowers are dangerous. The Foundation needs a Cerebro.
“Please! I don’t wanna play anymore.”- The Tunnel Monster
Fucking got me in the feels. Please let him go home already. 😢
I doubt -1 was a reality bender if they never made any other changes in their life. Instead, I propose we just witnessed children coming up with an idea, and the idea itself manifested an anomaly.
Saved this all day just so I could enjoy it before bed lol. Great video. Thank you for posting.
I like how the comments are a combination of liking older scp, a deeper understanding of scp universe mentioning reality benders and how dark this one actually is. Which I also forgot.
This was brilliantly done--really appreciated how you contrasted the words with their delivery to make distress clear.
I've been waffling over asking about this, but if it strikes your interest I'd love to see your spin on SCP-451/Mister Lonely sometime. It's not one of the trippy world-altering sorts, but felt for the SCP and IIRC it had some really creative inter-SCP interactions trying to impact the situation in journals and such. No obligation of course though, and it's always a joy seeing what you've picked. Thanks a ton for sharing your work! :D
I listened to this during a storm. Good experience.
What would happen if the tunnel monster was introduced to the toaster?
I think I would have the same effect as my other tests.

This is so underrated it hurts

I really appreciate the less explained entities. it's the mystery that makes them interesting.
In case you missed it this file would have to have been written somewhere around 2048.
This SCP needs a hug.
The updated colour level system works in this SCP because of where the document goes.
Very few do
SCP-015 doesn't like intruders, but I wonder if it would sense SCP-3663's nature (as a monster that lives in tunnels) and leave it alone or if it would hit it with steam.
hes the tunnel monster :(
