I love these "that's weird" scps, where they not actively trying to end the world or universe, there just really really odd and have no know origins or reasons for existing.
Same! I feel like newer SCPs are too often doom and gloom and not enough strange mystery.
The only doom and gloom SCP’s I really like are 610 and any lovecraftian or Sarkic type of shit. A lot of the other ones are just kinda boring after a while

I mean internal parasites would have a bit of trouble making contact before their hosts
I feel like the older SCP's better achieved the uncanny state of "thats weird and unsettling and I can see why its locked away".
Rather than now, where it seems like most of them are all world ending huge scale things. It really makes it hard to suspend my disbelief that the foundation could possibly remain secret.
It's just that people can't come up with any more unique monsters and it's very trendy to put XK everywhere, so that's what people write. It's a lot easier to be creative and original about a world ending scenario itself than just a specific sentient entity.
@@XSpamDragonX this is why I wish the wiki accepted me, I love making weird "mundane" items like this, but everytime I've applied they rejected me. I'll grant some of my ideas are a little too mundane, like the unmodified nerf gun that can fire real ammunition without any perceived reason it could do so, but this is the kind of stuff I love to make.
But oh well, I'll just keep them for the SCP roleplays I'm in.

Back then it required you to write a paragraph of why you want to join (it has to be serious and not in character) and what you think you can offer the site

Kinda reminds me of "The Flesh That Hates", but in an obviously more benevolent form (in the object's mind, of course). Like it wants to sort of take over our bodies, but only to help us, in it's own alien way. Like the excerpt at the end said, it's hard to describe what exactly the object wants for us, given the different definitions of "paradise".
I think it only did that just so it can properly analyze the people trapped inside, get a complete understanding first, create a paradise later.
Now imagine the nightmare of a paradise for flies. Mark Twain once wrote that the earth was clearly made for flies and not humans as it was, but now just picture all of us converted to one uniform festering wound covering the earth, all for the fly's benefit.

I love things like this well-meaning but so alien that benevolence can be horrifying.
I feel like this SCP might be a good out to a few of the insane end of the world scenarios. since it will apparently initiate a CK class reality restructuring event, and according to what we know it isn't hostile but might want to help in its own wierd totally alien way. it's probably a better alternative to whatever fresh hell any other K class scenario is bringing about at the time.
all I'm saying is if day breaks I'm going for this thing in the hope it might help.
I’m fan of pretty much every SCP series, but Series One hits different.
Series One feels so different because basically all the entries back then were just their own self-contained stories, and those self-contained stories generally didn't have a lot of "lore" or "backstory" if you could call it that (from my experience at least). Now most SCP entries that you see tend to have a bunch of overlapping connections, and dear God let's not talk about the Ouroboros Cycle

@@lestath2345 It's been a while so I don't remember exactly but if you go the Ouroboros Cycle Hub it should give you a selection of a few SCPs to pre-read. I'd recommend only reading the cycle for an hour or two a day because it's a ridiculously long story and it'll be easier to digest that way.
It's true. If only just because I remember fondly reading them in school as a kid, the foundation website was rarely blocked even if everything like UA-cam and games always was

I always kinda felt like this was the first physical evidence of Mekhane guarding Yaldaboth with her body. It says that the scp-3-2 the stone slab is a computer of early design and a part of mekhane meanwhile Scp-3-1 is an organic computer or taking the flesh and growing and so on. I know there’s another Scp that’s more direct with it’s Mekhane Yaldaboth connection with the site (I think it’s Scp-5001) but this one seems to have the same idea just not quite as in your face with the whole Mekhane Yaldaboth thing which might just be because it was such an early Scp before those concepts really came into play but all the same this Scp is possibly one of my favorites and with no real explanation it is quite mysterious
This is surprisingly interesting. Looks like 3-2 is containing 3-1, and contacted the Foundation via some psionic remote viewing when 3-2's power source began to fail. Bottom line, someone or something had contact with 3-1 and tried to stop it, partially succeeding. 3-1 seems to be some sort of biomechanical AI with no hostile intent, just a radically different "psychology" from humanity. Its apparent good intentions are very interesting.
Its similarities to other 'swarming growth' SCPs imply it's not malicious but certainly harmful to the biosphere.
My guess is it's Bigfoot biotech, and 3-2 is post-Bigfoot biblical-radiation-people tech. There's a lot of beryllium-bronze and alpha radiation imagery connected to stone-age humanity.
Personally, I'm convinced this is some kind of organic, alien made G.E.C.K.

Being that it seems to have good intentions, I honestly imagine that if it were given a chance to fully analyze humans and learn to communicate, it might end up being reclassified as thaumiel. If it knows and understands what we would call paradise, it could be beneficial.

Hope you read some more of the older ones! Those are less nuanced than the modern ones, but are also feel much more grounded in reality because the lack of overuse in lingo, beeps, and references to other readings. The newer ones are cool, but you can really feel the difference in goal of the writers (making an interesting SCP vs garnering attention from SCP fans)
The older ones have a nasty habit of going way overboard on the redacted. Like half the page is [redacted] found at [redacted] and proceeded to [redacted]
Yeah, but that was back when we were reading "leaked" documents based on 173. Added to the mystery :)

Other materials, unlike the redacted materials that was written in the previous entry. Which probably means they know what the material 003 exudes. A small rewrite that legitimately updates the item. Great work on the reading, as usual
I am over the moon with the rate of uploads for these, easily the best quality SCP readings and the 3D models do a lot for the watchability.
Its a small thing, but I appreciate that the borders on your video thumbnails don't have a bottom to them so people can tell when they have or haven't watched the video already.

As much as I don't like to, things like this make me side with the GOC on most occasions.
Yeah but think of the Rocking Chair.
They could destroy 003 and end up making Super Microchips by accident that proceed to go around infecting everything in sight.
I mean the Rocking chair turned into Teleporting Woodchips that suffocate People.
And Don’t Forget The Infected Site. They Used Incinerators to dispose of Anomalies and the Ashes gained Semi-Sentience and proceed to try and destroy the Facility.
Except attempting destruction often makes things far worse. Case in point: the chair that transported you anywhere. In the alternate timelines the chair is often mentioned as an Easter egg, as one of the most useful SCPs. In the main cannon, the GOC tried to destroy it, and now it materializes massive splinters inside of those wishing it harm. Not because it’s evil, but because it doesn’t want to be hurt.
If someone didn’t understand why you existed, and tried to kill you, how hard would you fight back?
It should definitely be on a case-by-case basis. Dangerous items and lifeforms should be destroyed/killed, benign items and lifeforms should be left alone or perhaps kept secure from the public. And there are the things that don't mean to be dangerous but are anyway.
See: the patch of wooden mulch that must constantly be complimented, if you think the GOC got it right.
@@matthewwilkinson9704 Pretty sure even the SCP Foundation will terminate SCP's that are too dangerous or expensive to contain. I remember a few articles that have termination requests, some have even been approved. Obviously the GOC is right in some circumstances.

In retrospect, as many have pointed out, this works as a prototype for the concepts that would later become Sarkicism and The Church of The Broken God, and, specifically, this is almost like a micro version of SCP-5001 "Sacrosanct". These ideas were clearly realized independently of each other, so it's interesting that it happened twice, in the SCP authorship circle, that someone thought of a the idea of representing nature in a feminine form.

Completely organic yet strangely mechanical in nature. A juxtaposition between the two extremes and yet “lives” in a way that we don’t understand. In the same way we are so simple it has a hard time understanding us. Maybe this stone was to keep it dormant until we got to a point to understand the function. It wants to understand (and help?) but we are as foreign to it as it is to us
No going to lie, I both want to see what this thing would do but also fear the end result
Your models are so gorgeous, I'd even suggest contacting some of the writers of articles you've covered that lack images, and ask if you could use yours. They look almost photorealistic, and most of them are very on-point with the descriptions, too. Would really add to the immersion when reading on the wiki, imo.
Holy crap, I think I've got it.
_Mother_ board. She cares for the complex organisms like a mother. But, just like any parent, she has her limits and faults.
I think that she takes the form of a core element of a society - a woman and a motherboard. Both are key elements to our current way of life. (or life as it was designed by whichever entity left this "guardian" of sorts behind?)
But perhaps she missed the mark, and so they (her original makers) had to contain her with the stone tablet. Almost like a sacrificial altar. This SCP provides so many avenues of thinking, and that's what really sets it apart for me.

Yeah literally no one in the comments is talking about this. Most are just stuck with the parasite thing or circlejerking how older SCPs were better.
I don't know if I'm understanding this correctly, but it seems like the "Lay on Hands" portion of the breach procedures are actually in place to mitigate the nature of the LK event as it happens, not prevent the LK event. They also seem to be written such that personnel that enact it may misunderstand their role in containment.
If that is the case, assuming the 05 councelor who sent an agent had suspected/discovered this SCP's nature, the agent he sent may have been his nominee for the god of a new world, in the event that recontainment failed. It would also explain why that 05 was resigned afterwards.

So, idk how people here watch microcetopants(or however you spell his name) but he had a kerbal space program series. In it he would address a man named Kevin, and it got me thinking right. TheVolgun presents his videos like a lecture of sorts, and I think it would be neat if he found a way to address patron members. Ik he already does but I mean while in character. Maybe at the end he could throw in a "if you still, talking to you Bj Novak" or where ever it may fit naturally. I feel like it could be a fun extra way to engage with the audience, and really add "immersion" lmao

It seems the SCP Foundation is one of the many iterations of various SCP-like foundations in the past with different containment protocols than the current foundation. This SCP-003-02 is probably the work of such a pre-Foundation foundation.

Very odd that they kicked a 05 council member _off the council_ for a SCP 03 booboo, but again, this is an early SCP.
I know but I was thinking what actually happened was the 05 initiated the containment breech to release the entity and take over with it or be the one to use its power.Just a theory though.
It is implied that he was compromised in some way and wanted to use the anomaly for his own agenda, which is a big no-no on the O5 Council.
