Thanks Wallace. Such a pain when gear gets damaged, but that tent has been put through years and years of trips in hard conditions so it is doing well all considered.
Phenomenal video! I can't believe the late and heavy spring snow you've had in the pass. Thoroughly enjoyed this trip and ty for sharing (from the homesick kiwi)
Thank you so much! Definitely a freak little snowstorm for this time of the year. You will remember how changeable the weather is here in spring time, I am sure.
Wow, you are making me excited for my first winter camp. That is quiet a spring storm. So pretty. Im planning on a one nighter not too far out, a mile or so, as a test first. Already have my spot picked. I will ski or snow shoe in as I live at 7200 feet and it will be snow all the way.
That sounds like a great adventure. I love that you have picked out your spot and know it before you go. That is what I did with this one, went somewhere I was very familiar with so that there weren't unwanted surprises. The snow was enough to contend with. Have fun, and thanks.
Hi Steve. Yes you are so right. The glow from the tarp made it look like I had some warm lighting going on. Very cosy look. Camp was chilly, but actually not super cold. That is the lovely thing about a freak spring snow storm. It is usually warm before hand, and then boom, sun comes out later and snow is gone in 2 days.
What a lovely place. I love snow. You did a fantastic job keeping up with everything. Thanks for the experience. And thanks for leaving your camera on some so we could see the views on your way out.
Great video! Congrats on 10,000 subscribers! So glad the road opened for you. I do have to say though, I’m glad it’s you and not me dealing with all the wet gear when you get home. But, hey, the experience was worth it!! Give Indi a hug for me!
Thanks Chris. The wind came through the next day and the sun shone so gear was dry in a jiffy, but what I mission none the less. It's my least favourite part of a trip. Cleaning and sorting the gear out afterwards. I just feel like crashing when I get home.
Another great video. What a beautiful country you live in. Glad you made it safe and sound. Looking forward to your next video. Give lots of hugs and kisses to Indi.
Thanks Lisa. Yes definitely want to be safe. I had all the gear and knew my spot well. It was the 'just right challenge'. Not too scary and new, and not too dull and predictable. Perfect. Indi say thanks for the hugs and kisses.
Way to go Cathy and Indy 10k Congrats👏👍you so deserve it and more .Wow what huge amount of snow looked absolutely Stunning ,and you and Indy are there amongst it ,dosent get much better than this .I loved watching Indy bounding all over on the walk out ,she really enjoys it 😁🤗After watching your video its hard to believe its spring a month away from summer Thankyou for sharing this Beautiful wonderland Cathy. I was so relieved for you both you got out to get home 🥰sending lots love and Blessings from Me V Aussie dwon Under💞🙏
Hi Vanetta. Thanks so much. 10k, it's crazy really. Just me doing my little thing and hoping others will find some joy in it. I'm humbled by the support. Crazy weather here, but really quite typically spring. We had a day of 26 degrees, then a few days later a snowstorm. So so changeable. I love it!!
Wonderful adventure again. So much to enjoy in your video. Indi’s playing in the snow, your obvious enjoyment, the birds singing despite the snow, Snow on the trees and a The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe moment as you pushed into the trees
Hi Bronwyn. So glad you enjoyed it. It was a hard video to edit as there was just more and more and more content. Lots of lovely scenery and lots of things happening, like you said. I showed one of those 'wardrobe' moments, but there were so so many more. I was so exhausted and covered in snow by the time I got to the car. It was crazy.
What a camp. Late spring snow and lots of it. You did a great job of making it work Cathy. Your a champion. Watching that is so calming with the snow and rain. Thank you. See you on the next one. ❤ ⛺️
Good Evening Cathy .. 👍👍👍 .. as usual, another good one .. and 10 000 on the Odometer.. well done, Girl! 😊. Spring??? .. it looks more like going into Winter. Here in Switzerland up against the Rhine, we were 4°C this morning with a damp early morning mist. Temperatures. Good that you managed to get through the Pass safely and until next time, Take Care .. Tommy.
Thanks Tommy. I did not know that about hypothermia. Interesting. Yes, definitely more uncomfortable in the slushing snow conditions. The dry snow has quite a different feel to it. Hunkering down nosh, yum. Chocolate went first. Always must be chocolate in these emergency supplies. It is a must for raising spirits.
@@adventureot 👍 .. chocolate .. Absolutely! I'm also partial to 'Geräucherter Schweinebauchfett' (Smoked Pork Belly Fat .. I'm a peasant 😁). Reasonably priced just across the river in Germany, keeps well and a couple of slices does wonders to get the body metabolism / internal heater going.
Indi is the sweetest camping and snuggle buddy. The snow was beautiful but it sure was heavy. Thanks for all the safety tips you give. So important. That apricot drink sounded so good. And congratulations on the 10.000 subscribers. Well deserved.
10k subscribers, it should be 100k subscribers because your content is so good everyone should be watching you. Great video as always and love snow and heavy rain videos. Coming from the uk the rain makes me feel at home 😂
Thanks so much Liz. It is a real bonus if you can find joy in this sort of weather if you live in somewhere like NZ or the UK. It gives you more opportunities to head out and have fun outdoors. No more waiting for a sunny weather window. Yay,

@@adventureot I especially like any tent where you pitch the inner & outer simultaneously. Mine is a Hilleberg Enan. Becuase I'm at 8,000'-9,000' & strong gusty winds are normal in the high Sierra mountains when overnighting I always gather up 8 big heavy rocks to place atop each tent stake after I've pounded it in the ground. I've NEVER had to get up in the middle of the night to re-stake a tent peg because it pulled out. I'm thinking it's time you learn to tie the Tautline hitch to secure your guyout lines. Hi Scott. I mentioned this in the video as people often wonder this same thing. The forest in this area contains a lot of dead and rotten wood. All through the morning I listened to branches cracking and falling under the weight of the snow. It was a lot safer for me not to be under the trees. I did deliberately camp in the lee of the trees to avoid wind, but actually there was very little wind anyway so wind was not an issue for me.
It's not ideal, but unfortunately it is a complex situation based on making it work as best I can in extremely challenging audio conditions with the gear I have available to me. I hope to upgrade the set up when funds allow, but till then I soldier on.
Good for you. I respect that. The algorithm can be really irritating when it suggests things you are not interested in. Watch what you enjoy. Cheers, Cathy

I would have loved to have Nina but silly me left it at home. Luckily it wasn't very cold and I had a towel, then a fire the next day.

Please, tell us where you are. What country, what forest etc. Tell us when you start the show during the opening remarks. Phew!!!
New Zealand, South island, Canterbury
Hi John. I will definitely keep that in mind now that my audience is growing and not everyone knows where I tend to camp. Thanks.
When you going to go camping with lucky husband 😊
Haha, we have camped a bit together in the years gone by, but it is not his favourite thing.
Question please why not go in the woods for more shelter, less wind and less snow on your things along with less wind.
What country you in May I ask.
I am in the south island of New Zealand.
Do u hot tent at all.?
Hi Scott. Yes, occasionally. I took it out 3 times this winter. Those videos are on my channel page if you are interested in hot tenting. Thanks.
Are you single because you are just amazing I’m from the uk and follow u a lot
Hey Andrew. Ha ha, thanks for the complement. I'm happily married to a great guy. Hopefully I can still be amazing though, lol.
It went from t-shirt weather to wtf!
Love it 😂 you summed that up perfectly!
YOUR MIC IS TO FAR AWAY TO HEAR YOU ON MOST OF YOUR CAMPING TRIPS. PULL IT CLOSER! YOU SOUND LIKE YOUR FAR FAR AWAY.
It's not ideal, but unfortunately it is a complex situation based on making it work as best I can in extremely challenging audio conditions with the gear I have available to me. I hope to upgrade the set up when funds allow, but till then I soldier on.
Another silly SNOWSTORM video not watching any more of this Crap
Good for you. I respect that. The algorithm can be really irritating when it suggests things you are not interested in. Watch what you enjoy. Cheers, Cathy
Hello ❤❤❤
Hello 😊
