According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in the years from 2013 to 2019, Texas averaged 3,614 fatal crashes on its highways. In the years since the pandemic began, that number has jumped considerably: rising to 4,397 for the span from 2021 to 2023. The increase is especially pronounced in urban areas.

I always drive through I30 and I am amazed on how everyone tailgates. I'm not talking bout a car here and there, I am talking about car after car speeding up only to end up 5 feet behind the car in front of them. I will have a distance between me and the car and front of me and I see a grouping of cars feet away form each other driving together the rest of the way. Its just mind boggling how 95 percent of the drivers on the road do that and for some reason they think its normal. It's even worse when I see them 5 feet behind a semi truck and its obvious they can't even see in front of the semi so they can react if anything was too happen, but you look at the driver and they are sitting in their care like its normal.
They somehow believe that going 80 MPH 5 feet behind the car in front of them is faster than 80 MPH with 100 feet in front of them. The stupidity is just unexplainable. The long stretch on the I30 from Caddo Mills to Rockwall is just a straight line yet there are accidently nearly every day for the same reason that I mentioned. All you have to do is drive straight and stay in your lane and you will make it, but for some reason that's difficult to do.
