    7100 here and I've learned more here than in the frikkin' manual. Pile of (useless to me) Win software here (RT and Icom). Also not D-staring, just want to put MY freq list into the radio (to match the 64 I had put into my Motorola). Chirp no help. Looking into this file approach you've shown and hope maybe that's the trick. Also want rig control software that i can run on LINUX. Any pointers appreciated, Thanks.

    Instead of connecting to the rig with the cable, all you needed to do was to save the settings to the SD card, then remove the SD card and put it in the PC, then the ID-4100 cloning software can open the ICF file, then you import the repeater list to the ICF file.. save the file. then put the card back into the rig and load the file.. no need to use the serial cable at all..

    Hello prepper, how do you use this rig on the Amateur Satellites, where the Uplink is a 70cm Freq, and the Downlink is a VHF freq? I wan tto be able to use both frequencies in the same memory channel,
    where the RX is a VHF freq, and the TX is a 70CM freq,
    can this be done? and if so, how? THANKS

    • @9Z4Y
      @9Z4Y 3 роки тому +1

      @@alternative3d87 hi again prepper, the sad news is, no the 4100 can't be set up effectively for satellite work with maybe the exception of the Dstar sat which I'm not sure if it's operational, the radio itself can't store a memory channel that contains two different band frequencies,
      but, the only inconvenience of a work around, would be to put the radio in VFO MODE, and select the two satellite frequencies with the tone on the uplink and manually switch back and forth for TX and RX , not the most ideal situation especially when you need to compensate for Doppler shift....... BUT, it can be done painstakingly,.. but I did try this action once using the ICOM app since I do have the Bluetooth module installed , . in all my emails to ICOM, the 5100 was most recommended for satellite work 73 good luck

    For All Those Interested In This Radio for terminal and access point mode These modes do not work like a hot spot. They only work with call sign routing which means you can't just connect to a repeater or a reflector and have a general QSO. So there are two reviews on this radio on UA-cam and neither make this clear. The advertising literature also does not make this clear. Buyer beware. Also, if this information has changed please reply so I know so I can make it work as I had intended it to and that is like a hotspot. But, as of the information I have this morning, this only works with callsign routing, which sucks. If you already have the ID-880h, there is no strong reason to "upgrade" to the 4100 (unless you really need the DR mode) the Access Point and Terminal modes are useless in the US. It feels like Icom just stole 460 bucks from me. I'm probably done with ICOM after they pulled this crap.

      For RF-dense areas, digital radio can be far superior in many ways. Excluding yourself is like someone refusing to use fuel injection because they understand carburetors better.
