Nowadays I always go first to your reviews 'cause you mostly play with a pick like me and you have a real groove in your playing. You also dug deep into these pedals.
I'd love to see Darkglass do a modulation pedal that encompasses phase, chorus and flange and something that does reverb and delay like the Collider from Source Audio
@4:54 THANK YOU FOR THIS. I hoped this can do the clean compression as well! I obviously love distortion, but my band mates look at me funny when I crank up my fuzz for a sweet ballad. ;)
Yesterday played with my death metal band on music Man stingray 5 HH with ny Alfa Omega ultra. So I don't think this pedal can be better than alfa omega for me. But it is very interesting preamp. Love the aux in feature.
Nope, the Alpha Omega is much fuller and pleasing to my ears. But since I don't play metal a lot Ill stick to my Vintage Microtubes which overs so many nice sounds 😊
@Felipe Giraldo it's superb. It sounds great in every setting. If dial in a scoopy sound on your amp you can even get some modern tones out of it. You will be pleased with it.
Question. Does the clean (blue) mode give you multi band compression or only full range compression? I keep finding conflicting information about this.
Hello, great video! :) I have a question, sir: you showed us the knob positions on the pedal, which is great and very useful, but what about the knobs on the bass? Do you leave them all flat? Thanks in advance?
I used the mxr preamp and darkglass distortion but distortion turned really low like to get a distorted Amp sound. But I just got this pedal and it is cool I haven't got to mess with it yet but I will a practice tomorrow. Hope I get the sound I want before my next show and I think I will cause messing with it for a few minutes I almost got the sound I want. It cool how you can have distortion and still cut through the band and have clear notes while distorted. I play punk metal type shit. Austin tx
"Give me the sun" by strange bones. One of my favourite bass riffs/sound. But I cannot figure it out for myself. Maybe a Rad Riffs? Keep these videos coming tho x
@@pCeLobster Ya? you think so? I'm skeptical lol. Most every pedal has some sort of EQ on it. Or you could add an EQ pedal(like a 6 or 10 band Graphic) to any pedal chain, so does that mean pretty much every dist/OD pedal could be called/used as a preamp? I think I'm looking to take this question a little deeper. I'm actually curious what makes a company call a pedal a Preamp pedal vs not. I guess what I mean is how much of it is a buzz word in some cases.
@@underpressureman A preamp is anything that boosts the signal before the power amp, hence why it's called a "pre amp". So yes, an active EQ pedal is a preamp. It's not a very exclusive term.
pCeLobster the EQ isn’t the issue. the main thing is having XLR outputs in addition to headphone or normal 1/4” out. XLR often have their own transformer to boost the signal level for FoH but it’s not just about boosting the signal, it’s the whole thing. having cab sims also makes it more of a preamp also.
i want one but probably never use the distorsion on it, am i dumb? low pass filter + plus 7 band eq + compressor + di out + headphone out i am in anyway. i'll just need an ultra +++ model with tuner built in.
Your amp can do EQ and DI out most likely, so you'd be paying $430 for a pedal compressor and a headphone jack. The Darkglass brand is indeed powerful if anyone is considering such a thing.
Bought this and returned it after 10 minutes of playing. It’s like someone put a wet blanket over the X7. Top end was muddy in comparison and the compressor punch was underwhelming. I’ll be sticking with the X7.
To Pimp a Butterfly is one of the best modern albums of all time, and it’s full of jazz and funk, amazing bass work courtesy of Thundercat, a VERY relevant commentary on being a black man in America, etc. There’s shitty rap out there, yeah, but it’s such an important genre.
X GON GIVE IT TO YA ua-cam.com/video/fGx6K90TmCI/v-deo.html
ive been waiting for this to come out!!! I absolutely love the x7 and the ultra appears to be even better
Badass Ripper bass
I'm challenging you for the title of Patrick Hunter. I've successfully tracked and caught several Patricks. How many have you bagged?
After seeing this demo. I really need this pedal!!!
The best darkglass pedal. Killer sound!
Great video! thanks for explaining it also in simpler terms for people such as myself to understand it a bit better!
yup, sounds like a darkglass pedal.
Great demo, you really push it!
Great sound and explanation! Nice playing too, dude
Thank you so much man!

There he is!!! Yes mate.

Rippin’ demo, bro!!

@Felipe Giraldo try to get the smallest Pedal used. If you got a decent amp it delivers all those tones on a budget.

Man dude I'm playing this in the weight room tomorrow for our back ground music, Heavy leg day
I like the way you used the pedal. The other videos on the X are way too shrill and clanky and almost hurt my teeth to listen to
Question. Does the clean (blue) mode give you multi band compression or only full range compression? I keep finding conflicting information about this.
Auxiliary in and headphone out? Dude why they didn’t do that for my AOU!? Dark glass keeps on breaking my heart, but I keep coming back to them.
Sounds kick ass
Oh darkglass, i love you soooooo much... OMG A NEW BASS?!!?

Patrick you need to review the Tech 21 dUg Pinnick DP-3X
Even if you don't review it you need to try it.
"Give me the sun" by strange bones. One of my favourite bass riffs/sound. But I cannot figure it out for myself. Maybe a Rad Riffs? Keep these videos coming tho x
I'll check it out dude!
So in your opinion, what constitutes a Preamp Pedal and what makes it a Preamp pedal just vs a let's say Bass Dist/EQ pedal.
Typically if it's got EQ you can call it a preamp.

Now I want a Ripper bass plus this pedal. Unfortunately the pedal alone is $430.
Would this be a good unit for the Mel S. GFR sound?
I can t choose between this and alpha omega ultra. Maybe x7 it is ok for more kind of music, I see alpha omega more dedicated to metal music, isn'it?
Will this pedal also sound similar to the b7k?
i want one but probably never use the distorsion on it, am i dumb? low pass filter + plus 7 band eq + compressor + di out + headphone out i am in anyway. i'll just need an ultra +++ model with tuner built in.
LPF/HPF don't work with distortion disengaged.

Mrfrenchfriesmonster Not crazy at all. The EQ is QUALITY, the low end comp is super handy and even CabSim so you an go ampless
Sir this one or B7K V2?
Is the blue and the red lighting due to different pedals or can i change it as i please?
Same pedal.
Blue is turning the compressor on.
You have to enable the option on Darkglass suit.
Thanks for info
How is that Caparison though?
Darkglass and Dingwall.
Name me a note iconic duo, I'll wait.
Fender Precission and Ampeg B15. Defining bass tone before most of us were born.
Peanut butter and jelly.
shut up.
Next microtubes X 900
Dat Caparison BASS !!! 🔥🔥🔥
What kind of bass is that blue 5 string? And which do you prefer, the AO or the X?
Awesome playing, Patrick!
What thickness does you picks have?
With the compression enabled thru the Darkglass Suite, does this mean I could get rid of my separate bass compressor pedal?
Sick! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🇵🇭
When you turn off the distortion does the high pass sound still remain? I'd like to have a clean that isn't just compressed low
They don't
@@douglascastro320 that's awesome! I like the idea of the clean being like that. great stuff !

Oh look who got rid of their Jimmy neutron hair style. Lol luv you patty
no matter what u are using u always sound the same man
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
He's showing how it can be used in his style, it's generally a good idea to watch a few demos to see how it can be used for different sounds
Sludgy Stonerrock Sounds? With a Darkglass pedal? Prove!
Hey Patrick! What about #IWANTDATXULTRA? 😁(just joking)
Nice. But I'll keep my alpha
The Sterling sounds like shit TBH but this fucking Ripper drives me high LOL!
Rap is like the American cheese of music. It's ok to make a cheeseburger but it's not real cheese.
