Sisters don't abandoned sisters. At least I didn't until it was time for me to leave home at 28 since I was tired and getting depressed on so much pressure not from her but from our mother that use our relationship to abuse our generosity to help her financially. Problem is she didn't push her husband to work which made our situation hard to deal with because we were not the parent but the children adults.

Honestly, the reality of this film got me crying all through. Knowing that so many people are locked up behind bars for a crime they didn't commit, knowing that so many families have been shattered because of one person.
My heart bleds to know that even at this moment, a thing like this is happening. I wish that this kind of a program could be organized in Africa prisons and in all prisons in general.

Yes unfortunately our justice system and courts are nothing more than a crap shoot in cases like this. If the police were so on to him they should have known she was not his supplier although her dating him could place around him enough to rise suspicion. Still in many cases what happens with the court and the jury/judge there are no guarantees which is stupid, because being guilty is a guarantee of time.

It also shows how dark and evil the war on drugs is. I have never understood how the claim of a drug dealer who stands to avoid doing time due to the claim has so much credibility that it is enough to ruin somebody else's life in a court of law. How does a desperate drug dealer's testimony have any credibility at all? It makes no sense. There is clearly reasonable doubt in such a situation.

      1. Not all foster parents are awful. I have no idea why you feel the need to prejudge them like this. So many are amazing.
      2. All foster parents are better for children then criminal parents.
      3. If the biological parents were good parents, they would not have chosen to deal drugs, or rob stores, or become prostitutes, and risk going to jail and losing their kids.
      4. Yeah, once in a blue moon, someone is locked up for something they didn't do. But it is extemely uncommon.
      5. Kids should not be in jails.
      6. If people don't want to lose their kids, they shouldn't commit crimes.
      7. I think children should be taken away from criminals. Send them to foster homes, where good people can provide for them, until they can be adopted.

@@Julia-nl3gq I never said that “ALL” foster parents are awful, there are many wonderful foster parents who do better than many biological parents out there. Cheryl Ladd always appears in excellent movies, and this is another one. This is really a heart breaking movies, which really shows that it is not just the prisoners who suffer when they are incarcerated, but also their children and families. I think we need to find a different way to help, rather than punish people who fall into situations, which, a lot of the time are not within their control.

I'd watch ANYTHING with Cheryl in it. I've been in awe of Cheryl's beauty since I was 8 in 1977 when she first appeared in Charlie's Angels. 8 is too young to have stiffy juice, but my very 1st wank was to Cheryl, in 1979. Since then, I've wanked to her close to 11000 times. She was lovely in an early 1980s TV movie where she was a coalminer fighting for equal rights for women. She was great as the wife of a pilot whose plane crashed and she relentlessly pursued the truth behind that crash, in a 1990 TV movie. And then this movie on this video. What a staggeringly cute little blonde she was. Unfortunately, she felt the need for plastic surgery to look younger and her eyes today are lizard-like eyes, nothing like those wide eyes of yesteryears. Why do beautiful women resort to defiling their faces when there is zero need to do so? If Kelly McGillis opted for surgery (either in youth or in old age), that would've been perfectly understandable. But lovely looking women should just age gracefully. Cheryl is now no longer fap material. I fap to Rebecca Ferguson these days.

There are many lessons to be learned from this movie:
    1) Never trust strangers.
    2) Be cautious even with relatives, buddies and acquaintances.
    3) Work hard to attain your objective and don’t give up.
    4) Children must NOT be castigated for the mistakes of their parents whether these mistakes were delibrate or accidental.
    5) Exert your power positively, instead of weeping, sobbing and feeling sorry for yourself, try to do something beneficial.

This has opened my eyes about how every one of us can contribute to raising awareness in our respective communities and help such women in any way we can - like supporting programs mentioned in the movie. One never knows what life brings, and Cheryl Ladd’s character was almost Mandela-esque in her fight for justice. Wonderful movie. I was also a good girl , one who trusted others and expected everyone to do the right. And there was this day in 1997 when my own brother molested me and when I raised my voice about it with my parents and sister and brother, they sent me out with the clothes I was wearing. I had no job, money in a bank account or jewels. I was all 25yrs just working a small Secretary job in a small office near by. I was not the smart type as my sister and brother. Everybody said I looked beautiful though I had been suffering from tbi( traumatic brain injury) from birth. I suffered epileptic seizures at least once in 3 weeks.
My family pushed me into the streets and threatened me never to return and that I would not get any share in my family assets.
It was complicated. But I still am fighting for justice. After 22 years, I got the police to file an FIR in 2019 against my brother and chargesheet filed a year later. I have not seen justice done to me yet .
I learnt to move forward in life. I live for everyday. I have lived in hostels for more than 15 years after my family made me a destitute.
My mother wished me dead. My mother abandoned me. She had a rental income of 100,000 Rupees, yet would not support me. They tried to dictate me after my fathers death , when the WILL was written in my brothers name and they asked me to sign out quietly.
I took the opportunity to contest the WILL.
The civil case is pending in court for the last 9 years. I have no money to pay lawyers.
People who know me see me as a woman who is stripped of all dignity and integrity. No body even wanted to marry me. They knew I as a sick woman and with no family , job or money. But they still look at me with jealousy coz I live a healthy lifestyle in my poverty. I never dress like a poor street woman. I always dress like a professional or manager.
I have only 5 sets of clothes, yet i manage by God's grace. I walk 'coz I can't afford travel by bus sometimes.
And I never allow others to dictate me. I learnt a valuable lesson- Put not your trust in man, yes, not even your own family.
Please pray I should get justice soon.
I am from INDIA , Chennai city.

This was a great movie, all the actors were really great! I like, watching true stories, l did tear up a few times, this is reality, and it's sad to see anyone in this situation....the fact that this was a true story made it even more real, to me....most of these women were in prison for non violent crimes...lm glad to see that the prison system treats these women with some kind of respect when it came to their children....and giving them hope...

This movie reminded me of what a joke the justice system has become. It's all about money.

When you think of the innocent people that are incarcerated, and then you think of the corrupt politicians who are committing crimes daily and getting away with it.

Think of all the guilty criminals that get off on a technicality, or who are never caught in the first place. Think of all the guilty criminals who refuse to take responsibility and blame everything on 'my terrible childhood'.

Never hold onto anything that someone you don’t know asks you to hold. As soon as he asked her that I was like …. “ no girl , don’t do it “.

Good movie. To be accused falsely and convicted is the very worst.
Good story and acting all round.

I feel sorry for Yoyo whose Baby died from the Car accident in Foster care while she was in Jail. That's is so sad. I'm glad the program was created so that she at least got to spend some time with her little girl.

Of course I feel bad for Cheryl Ladd's character but her sister was really put into a terrible predicament. So hard to change your entire life to help a family member. The fact that she took three children into her home without any motherly skills and lost her marriage and home is very sad. And no one suffered more than those children. This situation put the whole family in turmoil. And one more thing Angela Bassett is always superb love her ❤

...and the husband who acted so man-likely!... I would have never received him back after he had left her in the hardest moment of her life!
