- How good is the GPX 6000 really? Today I’m comparing Minelab’s two best metal detectors for gold: the GPX 6000 and the GPZ 7000. I’m keen on doing further testings to compare the machines with a variety of gold nuggets in different sizes and variable depths.

Oh yeah....The flies in the Australian outback are extremely friendly. They love saying hello. Fly repellant does not work.
Hey krissy I got a 6000 about a month ago went back to a spot I pulled just shy of an ounce at with the 5000 , about the size of tennis court no more signals but with the 6000 another 5 very small bits & deep bird shot,as you know don’t matter how small they are they’re in the jar & add up nicely cheers & thanks for your effort in making your videos all the best
You should run the 14" double d in the highest manual setting you can manage in hot areas with the 6000, you can still pick up 0.040g specs with that coil it's power is insane.

Ive found smaller than that with the 5000 on an 11' commander mono. 0.016 at 2in.

Great vid krissy in my view the 6000 is a bit more noisier detector than than z, the 6 is more sensitive to the ground minerlisation but doesnt go as deep unless you throw on the bigger coil, on, if you are after the smaller stuff the 6 is the way to go ,its a good machine but i would be too fustrated trying to know whats ground noise and whats not,,lets be honest ground noise is a pain in the butt lol, but thats part of the game,,see you out there,,its only my opinion ,,,cheers enjoyyyyyy

Fantastic again Krissy, I took my 6000 out this morning and got a large bit of dozer blade a hot rock and huge thing that looked like it could be sweet potato even though they don't grow wild here, tomorrows another day, the 6000 doesn't miss anything, I can't believe there is still so much rubbish around in areas I know have had a 5000 and 7000 over them, have a good day.

Howdy from California, 23 pieces in a Spot hammered by 7000 last week. I have run 4000,4500, 5000, and SDC. I prospect in rugged country, the lighter machine is a dream to pack in and operate in brush with the Blue Tooth Headphones. It hears smaller bits at depth than any machine I have run. Did I mention dead simple set up and operation.
So 6000 is best?
@@ciaranbyrne62 - It depends on your philosophy of use, if you are looking for big gold in wide open spaces and you like a workout - the cumbersome 7000 is your ride. If you are looking for gold in tight space, like simple, the 6000 can not be beat. Happy Trails
Is the 6000 more sensitive than the SDC? Have you tried a 17" coil on the 6000?
Excellent video. I always like the comparison videos. After having my Link Technologies modified GPX 5000 it’s hard for me to pull the plug on the 6000. Mostly because of the lack of iron discrimination with the 6000 and I can find those two little nuggets you found quite easily with my 5000.

I have an older buddie who has been having trouble with his 5K & 2300 finding gold. Primarily due to his poor hearing, he's just not hearing the softer signals, although he picks up lots of rubbish because these are always invariably loud. He refuses to wear headphones & I couldn't convince him to try boost speakers. On our last trip he upgraded to the 6K & has had his most successful trip ever. My conclusion regarding the new purchase is that the 6K is louder on all targets & my colleague can now hear them. I can recommend this machine to any hard of hearing prospectors 😁😁

You know how to run the 7000 to get the best out of it, it would be fantastic if you ran the 6000 for a solid month to get your knowledge up then compare the two

Ive got a 6000 and its excellent for finding small nuggets even tiny little ones. Picking up my 7000 on Tuesday. Will compare.
Great video as usual Krissy and interesting comparing the two detectors in WA mineralisation.
I’ve moved over to the 6000 recently and also really impressed with the detector.
Lots have already mentioned the sensitivity to small gold but two other interesting things I have found with the 6000 is that it loves specimens as much as a VLF but gets them deeper.
Also, out of all the PI’s I’ve used, it actually has the most noticeable variable tones on different type targets. After a while you can predict pretty well whether you have gold, lead shot or ferrous.

Thanks for another great video. The timing on your video is great as I'm heading over to WA in August with a 6000 so I'm keen to see how it goes. Does seem to like hotrocks. Was it in normal or difficult mode? Would love to see how the 14" DD coil goes too. I wonder if it might reduce the hot rocks. Thanks again!!
A few recommendations here to try the DD coil, would be worthwhile to do a test run with it next time I borrow the 6000 👍🏻

I love the 6000 for the sensitivity on the edge of the coil. I’ve found gold just with that, that I know I wouldn’t have picked up with the 7000.
My favourite settings for the 6000 are:
Difficult (normal just makes hotrocks scream)
Manual sensitivity at about 2 or 3 notches from the top during warmer days and higher when they’re cool.
Threshold on
Volume set at about 2 bars.
I also use the earbuds with it. I like the headphones but I just find them to hot. I live on the quick track button for ground balance (especially in variable ground) and noise cancel when it becomes ratty. Go to coil is the 11 inch but I’m looking forward to when the NF coils are out.

@@OutbackGoldFever also for the flies, and JP uses it and sells it in his shop is the Nature’s Botanical insect repellant cream. Much better than aeroguard and it actually works.
Have you tried the 17" coil with the 6000? Wondering if it is advantageous for specific situations?
@@kenmorrill3774 yes. It’s great for ground coverage and it is almost as sensitive as the 11in coil. I haven’t used it enough to know if there is a depth adavantage or not but I’m guessing there would be being a larger coil.

The ground out here is that noisy that I can't run the 7000 in normal. It's difficult with a sensitivity of 18 or lower, smoothings off.
Not sure how you feel about chemicals but even I would have to apply some DEET type repellent in that situation. Try "Bushmans". I'm presently trying to save up for a 2nd hand GPX 5000 to have a bit more of a chance at finding a speck or two in Vic. Personally if i want gold I just go and buy it. Much cheaper than buying ever elusive and expensive detectors and 4wds and camping gear. Anything else is just the thrill of the chase.

Homemade fly repellent spray: A mixture of dish soap, water, baking soda, and vinegar can be filled into a spray bottle. The mixture should contain a few drops of dish soap and a tablespoon each of vinegar and baking soda per cup of water. A few sprays of this mixture can be an effective fly repellent. Flies can be easily repelled with white vinegar. I also like Murphy's Lemon Eucalyptus Repellant.
I think that the flies see you as the water source in the area!
I like the idea of the lighter unit, but I am so used to the sound of the 7000 that I just like it better...which is silly!

No harness, no battery pack, and no cables or straps connecting you to it coupled with the ability to swing it all day and easily poke it into cracks and crevices or above your head in gullies is a great selling point of the 6000.
However, I find it loves hot rocks a little too much.
Put the 14 inch double d on then hot rock problem solved
The flys are trying to carry you away or really have something to tell you! LOL. Use your fly net to save you the discomfort of those pest! You do well in your videos allowing us to see your face with the net down!
Use your net girl! Good grief...you don't want to eat flies for extra protein! Thank the gods they don't bite! In spring here in Newfoundland, the blackflies are just as thick and they cut off chunks!

Put a baking tray on the ground and pour a small amount of water on it and the flies will be attracted to that ..good video
Maybe you could place some gold at certain depths and rebury it just to see if there is a reasonable chance of improved performance between the two after all any improvement would be a bonus. I must admit though I would find it hard to stick gold back in the ground . I do hope you get on some good gold soon. I get excited just watching your enthusiasm .

Where I'm from we don't call those tiny things nuggets,we call them all sorts of names like mosquito, sugar grain etc etc. half of an ounce and up we call nuggets 😂,and rarely have our women working detectors. So big up to this lady and the wonderful video,on three occasions I found nuggets that were solid nine (9) ounces with an minelad goldsearch . I think they don't make them anymore, and they replaced them with the monster 1000 would love to put my hands on a gpx 6000 or gpz 7000 and take back to where I'm from 🇬🇾🇬🇾

Awesome you shared your effort on the 7000 and 6000.
The GPZ 7000 is definitely In it’s own league and it’s definitely the king 👑 of detectors in the world 🌎..
But unfortunately isn’t kind with people with bad back’s or shoulder issues..
Saying that.. the GPX 6000 is a SDC 2300 on steroids and is super light and even better to swing that the SDC2300..
If money 💴 isn’t a issue the two combinations of detectors are a awesome combination..
Unfortunately not one detector can possibly do everything..thats the same as golf clubs..
You didn’t say if you had it in difficult (wavy lines ) (Defult mode) or normal straight lines..
And if you had it in normal.straight lines which is the settings in the center of the screen.. you definitely will have picked up every hot rock out there..!!
Probably the 14 inch DD on manual 4 from default setting and then on default would be a good starting point on very hot rock ground..and believe me it will still pick up sub gram nuggets.. unfortunately having the 14 one the 6000 dose becomes more heavier to swing…!! If you where to stay with the 11 inch standers coil I would start on default manual and difficult (the wavy lines) and if quite when swinging the coil … work your way up on the manual settings In that area.
I doubt I would be using auto one or auto two with the threshold back on..I am providing a link to the GPX 6000 …. go to page 21 in the manual to see what and how to change the settings with the DD COIL especially with Electrical interference and if you won’t to detect on salty ground.. You definitely have to read it as most have probably never even read the manual as it doesn’t come with IT..!!

I’d like to see a review between the 6000 and the SDC 2300 with a NF or Coiltek 12 or 14 in coil on it. I’m wondering if the 6000 is just a sdc2300 with a larger coil and added adjustments.
To think that I complain when I just have a couple of fly's buzzing around my head, its a wonder you could see where you were walking. If you had both detectors in your kit full time, and you found a patch, would you grid off the area, clean up the larger nuggets with the 7000 then go over it again with the 6000, and are you thinking about getting one, maybe after your next gold rush, All the best, Cheers!

Personally I haven’t tried the XP and most people swing minelab detectors over here. The red dirt is very mineralised which some detectors can’t handle.

Es ist auch sehr leicht da es mit und ohne Kabel (Bluetooth) funktioniert . Das Display / Fernbedienung inkl. Akku ist abnehmbar und am Rucksack befestigbar, eigentlich perfekt zum Dauerdetekten.

Have not watch it yet. But I have own the 7 the 5,4 and now 2 x gpx6000. But the best one by far is the 5. Paid for itself 2 times so far. 700 mm deep targets. It is all about the setting on that machine. But the 6 fines more smaller shot and 2 grams.
The six and seven thousand detectors are very good! But I would love to see how the Gold Monster 1000 compares to the other two. It is much closer to my
price range.
Unfortunately I can't tell you much about the monster, haven't used it yet but when I get the chance to borrow one, I could do a comparison video 👍🏻
I use the monster but the depth is lacking if I had to do over I’d keep saving for the 6000 it’s definitely the best machine out there right now with continued use it beats the 7000 and you get more gold
How much in Zambian kwacha
I have a 7k, 6k and gold monster, unfortunately the gold monster has to be "dumbed down" in the WA mineralisation so much plus being a VLF its only getting an inch or maby two depth.
BUT
If you find a good gold producing area, where the old timers have worked and way too much junk for the big boys try the gold monster to discriminate out ferrous and you may have luck. Still run in all metal mode but learn to use the detectors discrimination.
I have found from 0.3g to 8g nuggets like this with the GM1000

Interesting video with both detectors so the 6000 is mainly for small stuff. Those bloody flies are insane , best you put that mesh on before you get out of your car before detecting. Maybe spray it with some repellant first both flies and mozzies are the worst . Small pieces are better than none at least you were not getting lots of junk but those hot rocks were also insane at least you could basically move them with your foot. already got 7 ounces with my 6000, absolute beast and have tested against 2300 and 7000, no comparison for small gold
No shit ? - I got 9 ounces with a bent clothes hanger - gonna go back in a week or two and go over same area with a 2 clothes hangers in parallel - twice the power
Does the 6000 find gold smaller than the SDC?
Great videos. Thoroughly enjoy them but you swing too high. Skid plates are there for a reason. Also with the 6000, switch between normal and difficult will separate the hot rocks.
Those minelab signals sound so nerve wrecking and old fashioned to me. Would love to see a test of Garrett-AT-Pro or XP-Deus-II in the Outback.

What are hot rocks when you mentioned in the beginning of the video
From what ive learned watching her . Hot rocks are heavy mineralised rocks . They dont bare gold but set of the detectors . . Minerals like iron tin cobolt . .

No sprays or creams seem to work, the net is still the best option but it gets hot underneath and restricts my vision. Can't have it all 😁
Have you tried the Rosemary and Cedar wood fly repellent, I found it really good when I was working in the desert. Just put it on your face and ears they won't land on you and it smells nice!!!
I'll stick to the 4500 with a coiltec elite 17"epaleptical,best all round combination on the market.

Well done again Krissy spending a bit more time with the 6000 and get yourself familiar with it. Then you may achieve a better comparison but you have done so far still very good use it more than your 7000.

Iv been researching detectors this week so this helps a lot...I'm going to get a mid grade one and nothing like the caliber you use..lol where I live in ohio is right where the end of the glaciers were 10 or 12 thousand years ago and one of the few places in this state where gold has been found...a $50k nugget and one $896 thousand nugget within the last 12 years...so I guess I found my new hobby..lol. thanks for all the info

@@ciaranbyrne62 ..no bears around here...but there is a few Bigfoot sightings around close....lol..Belleville, ohio ...there was a gold mill here back in the day that was right on the river at the north end of town...the article says they shut down because they couldn't make enough profit ...but the GPOA and a few others have active claims and use them for recreational mining

This kind of video is just what I'm needing because I'm trying to decide if to get a 6000. If I was a full time prospector like you in WA I would no doubt look at a 7000 how ever I'm just a hobbyist detectorist that does a once a year trip to WA from Victoria. Even though my last trip was a total stuff up a couple of months ago now but I'm still looking forward to my next trip over there. Maybe with a 6000 haha! I have to many hobby's and they all cost to much haha, shooting, fishing with a boat, prospecting and off roading! Maybe I should sell everything and get a cheap hobby like crochet. hahahaha!
I know it takes time and effort to do videos but I hope you do a few more tests with the 6000 and 7000. I think many of your follower will be interested in see how the two machines compare. The good thing about you is after watching you for some time now you are very trustworthy in what you do and say compared to a lot of other youtubers.
