    Oh wow! It worked! Press hard on all buttons, the one's that move the twist lock are the combination.

    They appear to have updated the mechanism, this technique only works for buttons 1 and 6 on recent locks. Looking at the mechanism the part referred to as the 'checker plate' in the patents has been modified as have all the buttons apart from 1 and 6. Would be interesting to compare photographs of the checker plate in your safe and mine.

    Just had to open one yesterday, it was a struggle. 1, 2 and 7 was moving like in the video, 3 seemed to be moving but then it stopped, 5 however didn’t move the handle for the first few attempts but later it did, no movement for any other buttons, so I tried all 5 and 6 digit combinations with 1237 and 1257 and it opened with 125790… took me about an hour! As I’ve read in the comments they changed the design after 2015, so I must have been lucky to be dealing with an old model…

    Carers had one installed for my elderly mother just as the care package ended. I tried to open it to set the code but it's already set as it wouldn't open, but nobody knows what the code is. So I tried this technique and none of the buttons respond like the video. I pressed each one hard with a pen with the handle in the position shown. Nothing. It never responded to any of the attempts.
    Have they addressed this weakness maybe ? Frustrating considering how much they cost to buy. Paramedics have been called out on a false alarm and if my mother hadn't opened the door they would have kicked it in. I called the company who make it and they said it's up to the carers who had it installed and set the code. Grrrrrr.

    • @fabfisher

      They have addressed this weakness. Also it's extremely hard to get this method to work on the old models when the safe is in situ ie fixed to a wall.

    OMG! 7 years this hanging on my wall pervious owner died and nobody know the code but yes its work !!!!!!!! Is really hard on bottom numbers and best to use two peoples to look on movements. Take me four attempts but finally I can use this. Best to use pen on something hard to pushing and this need to be push really hard. Thanks for video like I said this killing me 7 years every time I enter to home.

    If this is considered to be the safest, police-approved keysafe (as secure as a front door) but is so easy to open, then is there any way to safely store your keys?

    • @MikkoRantalainen
      @MikkoRantalainen 8 років тому

      In mechanical locks, the lock design is the most important thing. If you need something that does not require physical key and does not need batteries, the most secure lock is *dial* combination lock. For example "Kidde Keysafe Dial". All push-button style locks and locks with multiple user accessible wheels are easy to pick because different parts can be picked separately (called "manipulation").

    • @MikkoRantalainen
      @MikkoRantalainen 8 років тому

      For example, the method you see in this video is manupulating each button separately and watching for "feedback" in the opening handle. If the button belongs to combination you'll get feedback. And because this style mechanical lock does not require correct ordering for the numbers, picking this open by manipulation is really easy. Note that to receive good feedback you must press the buttons pretty hard.

    So I went out today to check my lock works and the key is in it but i could not get it to open. the wife an i tried and entered the code (same as our alarm code) several times to no avail. did some googling and found several vids including this one. Following the guide i found my code! turns out it's mine and the wife shared birth year - oooops.
    I thought someone had cracked it and changed our codebefire I realised that the numbers i manipulated where our birth year in a different order. (such a dumnbass)
    anyway, thanks for this and good to know how unsafe these are. I will not be getting another one. nor will I be using this anymore!

    i'm trying to open one of these that has been left attached to my house by previous occupants. this method doesn't seem to be working for me, I think my unit might be broken. I can turn the lever both directions, without it opening. the front doesn't seem very tightly closed either. is this normal?

    • @davidcollett9436
      @davidcollett9436 7 років тому +1

    • @TRS-Tech
      @TRS-Tech 7 років тому

      David Collett If it turns in both directions then someone has tried to force it and broken the clutch. BTW I have maybe one of the few doors that is allmost imposible to break into but if I told you how it was done that would spoil the secret. It cant be opened even by the police or fire brigade aside from a thermic lance or destroying the external wall. Its one of a kind as I designed it myself.

      @andyowens5494 4 роки тому +1

      Mine is perfectly good, and the lever turns in both directions. Also, yes, there is some play in the door. There is nothing wrong with yours; the clutch is working as designed.

    • @andyowens5494
      @andyowens5494 4 роки тому

      avaheli If yours is newer than 2015, this technique doesnt work. The only way is a brute force attack; it’ll probably take several hours, but if its yours, that shouldnt be a problem. If its not yours, good luck fiddling with someone elses lock for that long without getting caught.

      I don't think this knowledge being public completely invalidates the product. it took me about 15 minutes to do this. put it somewhere that would be ergonomically difficult to work on, or where someone doing so would be exposed to view from the street.

      Agreed, I've dismantled what I assume to be a recent one as the mechanism and buttons are modified compared to that in the patent, this attack now appears to only work with buttons 1 and 6.

  • @sybaseguru

    It only took me 20 mins to work thru combinations - order of digits doesn't matter (1234 = 4321 = 1324 etc), no number used more than once, so there are only 497 combinations. If your method identifies even one of the digits then we are down to 167 possible values

    • @RaveyDavey
      @RaveyDavey Рік тому +1

      Depends on how many digits in your code. Don't use 4. Given there are 10 numbers + 2 letters = 12 digits, best to use a 6 digit code I believe

However there is a far easier and 100% reliable method of getting in shown in another video online that has a sensor block on most of it.. if you look carefully at the end just after the sensor block is removed then there is your clue as to how to do it....

      This is kind of controversial subject. As positive aspect, it shows how weak products are being sold to people, who will blindly trust them being secure. It also should force manufaturers into improving their technology. But, without doubt, dishonest people will take advantage of these too.
      I found this video, while planing to buy something like this, comparing products. There are also seems to be many much worse than this.
