Sup JAY-D. Just leaving a nugget I wasn't sure if you caught but I didn't hear you mention it so I didn't want you to miss it. In the song Moonlight. The hook "We're stuck in La La Land. Even when we win, we gon lose." In 2017, Moonlight won Best Picture at the Oscars. I highly suggest you watch that movie if you haven't. It's incredible. Still, when the winner was announced... You guessed it, they announced La La Land as the winner somehow. The cast of Land came up on the stage and everything. Got into the thank you's. The whole nine. It wasn't until the heads start turning on stage that we notice production crew with headsets running around that something's up. Then someone in the middle of their speech ends up saying "doesn't matter anyway, we lost, so..." Then they formally announced Moonlight as the winner of Best Picture. Watch it here on UA-cam. Still, puts a deeper meaning to Shawn's words. "Even when we win..."

But the line about his auntie who was molested ‘that charge of energy set all the Carter’s back’ made me think about how if our great grandparents were depressed, that energy could still be affecting us today, as they lived in a depressed state and passed that onto our grandparents and then our parents and so on. If they didn’t get the help they needed which tbh a lot of our elders didn’t. Mental health is only just becoming a normal thing to talk about. That line most definitely made me want to break that cycle.

100% I was thinking about genetic memory recently too. Obviously there would be the face value side of it eg if someone is depressed then they'll pass certain behaviours down to their kids and so on but I think there's definitely a deeper subconscious side of it as well which can only be changed slowly

This album is underrated as hell. That "I don't even know what you woulda done, in the FUTURE other n****s playin' football with your son" bar in Kill Jay Z is legendary.

Anyone who says Eminem is better than Jay-Z is an absolute clown.
They’re both at the same stage in their career, both around the age of 50. One of them is still putting out incredible, critically-acclaimed music.. the other is releasing unlistenable garbage and spitting lines like “I’m the butt police, and I’m looking at your REAR REAR REAR”.
    Smh 🤦🏻‍♂️
